What follows are the changes made to the ATR FAQ since the last posting.
The changes are presented as output of the "diff -c" Unix utility. Each
change is separated by a line with a dozen *'s. A certain amount of context
is provided for each change. Within that context, the lines removed from
the previous version are marked with '-'; those added to the new version
are marked '+'. Lines that are changed from one file to the other are
marked in both files with '!'.

No differences encountered

Louise, the daughter of TRH the Earl and Countess of Wessex, is entitled to
the HRH. It is merely by agreement that it is not being used. But whatever
the legality of the press release, Louise is entitled to the style.

At present, there are eighteen members of the Royal Family who are
Eighteen and a half. :-) It is by no means clear whether Louise,
daughter of Edward and Sophie, is an HRH or not.

Its not in doubt she is entitled to the HRH, but its been her parents CHOICE
to not allow it to be used. She is a grandchild of the Sovereign through
male issue. Much like Lady Patricia Ramsey. She was entitled to be an HRH to
her death, but she CHOOSE to not use it.

Actually you are correct that it is absolutely clear, but what is clear
is precisely the opposite of what you say. Her parents have no choice
in the matter and neither does she.

It is the Queen who decides what titles her family may use and she has
chosen that this grandchild should not be HRH or a princess.

Legally, the Queen has the right to make those decisions for her
family. How she chooses to communicate such a decision to the likes of
you and me isn't specified anywhere in law, either statute or common.
She can, if she likes, use her own government newspaper (the London
Gazette) to make her intentions known, but there is no legal principle
saying that she must. She may use press announcements to specify their
individual titles if she prefers, just as she frequently does when a
new bride marries into the family or a widowhood arises.
