Actually, doing this is on my bucket list. It must be London’s worst
“tourist experience” (unless, that is, anyone knows better).

I'd put it at the end of the list, just in case...

I've run through it; while I'd happily recommend doing it once, I
woudn't recomend doing it twice.

My recollection is that the footway through the Blackwall Tunnel was
narrower than Rotherhithe (and with sharper bends more fun with passing
buses and lorries). But that is from nigh on 60 years ago when one
mainly breathed good healthy petrol fumes with, err, lead.

I believe buses that ran through regularly had reinforced tyres that coped
better with hitting the kerbs.

Ta, I was fortunate in a way that although for I time I lived in West
London and went back frequently
one friend of the family opted for a new council flat near Surrey Docks
Station and one of her neighbours was a bus driver who mentioned it .
I liked that flat and so did she, top floor of a tower block with excellent
views all around being brand new non of the maintenance and social problems
that affected them in later years , green trains to the west red ones
formed of F stock to the East.
Though I waited in vain to ever see a train from a line that branched off
the East London in front of the flats and disappear through a wasteland of
scrapyards and industrial dereliction and not far away the murky waters of
the Surrey Canal which somehow we ended up exploring on walks and we did a
couple of bus journeys in the area including the tunnels. I’m glad. I saw a
glimpse of that part of London before it changed so radically.

And now 60 years later I can travel over the line that branched off as it
has been rebuilt as part of the overground route to Clapham.

Although perhaps if XR have a (somewhat unlikely) brainwave, there
might be a chance of a less asphixiant experience...
