Rev. Robert Akers?

Hi,
Anyone familiar with the Holiness preacher/singer Reverend Robert Akers?
He's got one track on the Rounder Cd "Children of the Heav'nly King" and
also appears in the Chase the Devil docmentary. In the film, they say
he's from Hillsville Virginia.
He sounds like Brother Claude Ely and other tent revival stuff. I think
the Rounder recordings were made by Blanton Owen.
Is he still alive? Has he made any other recordings?

I knew him well and was in services with him as a kid in the 60's and 70's and then later on in the 80's and 90's. He had a church in Hillsville Va but preached in my area of Lydia, Va and area for many years. He did move up this way when his wife passed away about a couple miles from me. I haven't see in maybe 5 years so not sure where he is now but last I knew he was still living. He probably is about 80 now. Was a great preacher and a great songwriter. I think he was in some meeting with Bro Claude Ely in his younger days.

Yes Bob is still alive and preaching. Still living in the Hillsville area. He has several recordings as well.

Just saw him in his Hillsville,VA church yesterday, April 29, 2018. Still preaching and singing. Probably in his mid-to-late 80's...Just as sweet and loving as he always was.

Just saw him yesterday, April 29, 2018--at his church in Hillsville, VA...still singing and preaching. Not sure of his age, but probably around mid-late 80's.

I ran across a recording as I viewed YouTube
an Reverend Robert Akers was singing an Church Worshiping to God’s Not Dead He’s Still Alive. I was hoping to find some recorded preaching or other songs an Church worship. Was a blessing to hear everyone praise our god. K.Leonard

That wasn't true and that's why he didn't get charge for it hes a good man I've known him for 14years and my kids love him he would do anything for anyone hes a real man of god
