Discussion:
Can a girl change her mind?

A man and woman love each other and the man plans to instigate sexual
intercourse real soon now (no, it's not about me).

Just before the moment of hiding the sausage the woman says,"Sorry,
Norman, I've changed my mind and no longer consent to this love event
proceeding." The man, of course, being a gentleman, stops immediately
and makes a cup of tea.

So if it's okay for the woman to have second thoughts, why not let the
voters express any second thoughts on leaving the EU or staying in?

That has to be the most pathetic attempt at an analogy I have read for years.

For a start, you would have to already be inside the woman, as we are in the
EU; and the decision would be to stay in forever or have the option to get
out with a mutually agreed exit strategy.

It's about an event that's about to happen with mutual consent of both
parties. Whether it's sexual intercourse or withdrawing from the EU,
consent for either event has to be given. But a woman can change her
mind, can't she? The man, too. So consent is given, but can also be
taken away.

You've got it the wrong way around.
If your sausage is already inside the EU sausage orifice, then you can't
pull out unless you agree to the EUs withdrawal conditions. If your
sausage just pulls out without obeying the EU, then they'll stop you
inserting your sausage in any of their mates.

Isn't the UK the woman in this analogy? I'm not entirely sure, but I
think the suggestion is that it is the UK that can change its mind. Or
something like that. Or are you suggesting that the analogy works
better if the EU is the woman?

No, the UK is the male. The UK is the one that inserted his sausage
into the EU after agreeing to insertion consent rules. Are you
suggesting that the UK raped the EU? :-)

pehaps need is a new group: uk.brexit, for example.

In its absolute basics it comes down to whether consent can be

This is becoming surreal!
lol
It is certainly conjuring up some strange mental images.

This is what happens when we try to discuss Brexit with a rabid
remainer like MM.
Best not to talk to him when he's hungry.
I've had my sausage quota for today. Ooh, that may have come out
wrong... I am, of course, referring to, and paying due homage to, the
two Aldi outdoor bred pork bangers I had for breakfast with an egg,
mushrooms (porcini) and toast.
MM
I hope you enjoyed them.

MM
You've got it the wrong way around.
If your sausage is already inside the EU sausage orifice, then you can't
pull out unless you agree to the EUs withdrawal conditions.
'Course you can! That would be a hard, no-deal Brexit. Although after
prolonging ejaculation for over 2 years it probably wouldn't be so
hard any longer.
Post by Bod
If your
sausage just pulls out without obeying the EU, then they'll stop you
inserting your sausage in any of their mates.
On the contrary, a hard Brexit would give Britain the opportunity to
ignore the EU entirely and strike trade deals unhindered with the rest
of the world.

But we will have to take the necessary precautions to ensure that this
doesn't result in the UK getting shafted instead.

I think it a good idea if he gets a hold of his sausage and stick it in
your ear, consent or not of course, and try fuck some sense into you!

Long overdue!

I told you, it's not about me. You should be more concerned about
fucking some sense into the minds of Brexiters.

Long overdue.

You don't like it because you can't argue against it. But it's drummed
into everyone nowadays that a girl *can* change her mind.

He's already tried comparing the referendum to an General Election. I
said that was fine, but where have the EU referendums been for the last
forty years if they're supposed to be every five?

In many EU countries they have referendums on a regular basis until the
electorate give the result the government wants.

Maybe that alternative scenario is what MM is trying to suggest?

No. We have a representative democracy. Referendums should play
absolutely no part in a representative democracy.

It's ironic that a representative democracy supports a vote to have a
referendum, perhaps the most democratic instrument of all.

Of course some are so selfish to dislike referendums when they are the
truest reflection of the will of the people but don't provide the right
answer.

Far from being "the most democratic instrument of all", Margaret
Thatcher in 1975 agreed with a previous Labour Prime Minister, Clement
Attlee, who said: "referendums are a device of dictators and
demagogues".

Which is why there have been so very few referendums throughout
British history. Check it out.

Well, people in future are not going to fall in love with referendums
after this current debacle. I would suggest that Parliament pass and
Act outlawing all future referendums asap. It would need another Act
to repeal it.

You sound a good Tory. Keep up the good work. I guess Kenneth Clarke is

You seem to be saying Kenneth Clarke is a Thatcherite but you probably need

It was the former Labour Prime Minister's view, with which Margaret

He has always been a hero of mine, being, like me, anti-Brexit to the
