Discussion:
Manually edit Database of Price Editor?

Hi there,

is it possible to import a CSV file with stock price data into the database that Price
Editor uses? Specifically, I am trying to build a historical price database of my
portfolio, and entering the individual datapoints by means of the Price Editor is
cumbersome.....

If so, which file would contain the database, and is it editable with a text editor or
spreadsheet programme?

thanks,
Rolf

I'm afraid that at this time there is no way to import pricedb entries
except by hand or the Get Quotes interface.

Well, the data file is all XML (albeit gzipped). So you could
TRY to format your quotes in the appropriate XML format and then
splice it into the file. But no, not a spreadsheet.

I don't know about a CSV file, but I do intend to develop a price importer
for QIF files at some point.

Is it worth looking at making the finance-quotehist stubs work?

Which file would that be, and where can I locate it? I'd be keen at having a go...

thanks,
Rolf

The XML file is your datafile so it's located wherever you saved it. You
will need to do gunzip it before you can open it in a text editor and read
the xml.
