Yes, Norma. Unlike those stingy Saudis and other muslims.

What's wrong with this picture.
Something's very wrong with it. The U.S. is still getting trashed for the
$350 million we've offered so far, yet Saudi Arabia ranks among one of the
wealthiest countries in the world given its enormous oil income and small
population. Also, whenever the cult of Islam is criticized, Saudi and
other Muslims are so quick to point out how Islam is a religion of peace,
charity, etc., so where is Muslim charity in this case? Also, several of
the afflicted countries were predominantly Muslim, yet their "charitable"
Islamic brothers aren't rushing to their aid.

"Only one ambition is worthy of Islam, to save the world from the curse
of democracy: to teach men that they cannot rule themselves on the
basis of man-made laws. Mankind has strayed from the path of God, we
must return to that path or face certain annihilation."

The Saudis have been "shamed" into giving more. It is pitiful that it had
to be done in that way. They will be their in a year or two to build new
Mosques to potentially train more terrorists. For some reason the Muslims
in the Arab world can't get beyond their own religion beliefs and hatreds.

What most people do not know or would rather not acknowledge is that the
American people, aside from the aid given by the government, usually give of
their own resources, to the max, to independent agencies and charities. No
one seems to recognize that as American aid at all. I din't think that
persons from other countries give independently in this same way. Norma

Of course we do not give. We all want to horde our money for BMW's and
wide screen televisions.

The $26 million of public donations to the French Red Cross, the $5
million donated by the public to MSF, the $5 million donated by the
public to Secours Catholique and the $2.5 million donated to Médecins
du Monde.

It must all just make believe money. Only the $120 million donated by
the American public must be real.

The $146 million raised in England must also be monopoly money. What
about the $60 million raised by the Swedes? The $20 million raised by
the Italians? the $29 million raised by the Canadians? The $58 million
raised by the Australians? The $35 million raised by the Dutch? The
$130 million raised by the Germans?

These are all donations raised by the public and industry but of
course no-one else gives apart from America.

I was speaking of individual giving, Daniel, and I think you know it.
Almost everyone I know has given a whole lot of money as individuals,
families or groups. That is in addition to to what our govenment gives,
and it will reach a sum of much more than our govenment will give. If you
have watched TV today, you have see what is being done and by whom. We are
a country of people who give big sums of money and of our time, materials,
and talents whenever we can ,and always have been. I was turned down to go
with a group from "Doctors Without Borders just now", but I hope to go in
the future. There will be years worth of needs in the area.

Take offense if you must, but we are a nation of generous people and always
will be. In our country we don't think that all the donations come from the
Government and industry. We dig deep into our own bank accounts, resources
and talents as well, as individiuals in the world. Norma

The figures I gave are for individual donations raised by members of
the public, not money pledged by the governments. In the case of the
British government, they have not yet confirmed their donation because
they have decided to match whatever figure is raised by the public
(basically, the money raised by the public far outstripped the initial
sum pledged by the government).

I'm not offended. You are entitled to your opinion but in this case I
have to say that it is wide of the mark. The assumption that only the
American public is actively donating is plainly absurd.

Follow the link in my previous post and it shows the sum raised by
individuals and that pledged by governments. You will see that the
British public has at this point donated more than the American
public. No it is not a numbers game and I am not crowing about that.
It is just a statement of fact.

I'm not denying American generosity just confirming that other people
are equally generous, and are giving independently of their
governments.

Sooner or later that Malaysian pigf*cker Mahathir or that scumbag
Osama bin Laden will try and make some mileage out of this

I think Saudi Arabia will eventually send some of its citizens to the
afflicted areas, ostensibly to help and provide relief, but also to
indoctrinate the survivors with fanatical Wahhabism (just watch how
many Saudi clerics are sent to manage the relief distribution). And
to be fair, I'm positive that most if not all of the various Christian
aid groups all have the same agenda, to convert the disaster victims
while making it appear to be an act of charitable aid.

Already in Sumatra, there have been reports of clerics telling their followers
that they are being punished for not strictly following Islamic law
(particularly Sharia), and because of their increasing desire for western
culture.

That was not my assumption at all. I was remaking on the fact that the
figure given by Bush was far below what will be the eventual amount. We are
actually being aske to stop with the money for awhile, as the organizations
have plenty at this time.

and talents whenever we can ,and always have been. I was turned down to go
with a group from "Doctors Without Borders just now", but I hope to go in
the future. There will be years worth of needs in the area.
Post by Norma
Take offense if you must, but we are a nation of generous people and always
will be. In our country we don't think that all the donations come from the
Government and industry. We dig deep into our own bank accounts, resources
and talents as well, as individiuals in the world. Norma
I'm not offended. You are entitled to your opinion but in this case I
have to say that it is wide of the mark. The assumption that only the
American public is actively donating is plainly absurd.
That was not my assumption at all. I was remaking on the fact that the
figure given by Bush was far below what will be the eventual amount. We are
actually being aske to stop with the money for awhile, as the organizations
have plenty at this time.
Post by Daniel Bernard
Follow the link in my previous post and it shows the sum raised by
individuals and that pledged by governments. You will see that the
British public has at this point donated more than the American
public. No it is not a numbers game and I am not crowing about that.
It is just a statement of fact.
I'm not denying American generosity just confirming that other people
are equally generous, and are giving independently of their
governments.
I didn't say that they didn't. Norma
<quote>
I din't think that persons from other countries give independently in
this same way. Norma
<end quote>

Maybe I am misreading that line? Should that be "Didn't" or "Don't"?

Once again, Danny boy, you've missed the point entirely. No one here in the
states is accusing European nations of stinginess, despite the rhetoric from a
certain European UN official. No, our beef is with the obvious lack of
compassion Arab and Muslim states have shown to their own people with regard to
this disaster.

And to illustrate that,Norma, our local TV station in Sacramento,
California, had a telethon. In 18 hours, more than $1.1 million was
raised. That was just in Sacramento, which is not a big city, and that
was just the telethon. In the mean time, many people have donated what
they could afford ever since the catastrophy was announced. This is
going on all over the U.S.A., so I would not be surprised if within the
next few weeks a billion (called milliard in Europe) dollars will be
raised, by private individuals in the U.S. Ah....those stingy rotten
Americans who don't give a shit about what's going on in the world...

The people who are receiving this aid will long remember who it was that helped
them, and who didn't.
No they won't, I'm sure within a few years all the victims' lives will be
back to normal and they'll go back to bombing Westerners (reference to
that Indonesian nightclub bombing that killed all those Australians).
And since these are Muslim countries, Saudi Arabia is literally the center
of the whole fucking universe to them, as that country contains the holy
rock they worship plus all the shrines that Mohammed farted in 1400
years ago, plus Arab culture is the foundation of Islam, even the prayers
in Indonesia must be said in Arabic, that Arabs and their culture take on
almost some sort of mystical status to other Muslims. In other words,
the Saudis don't have to contribute one cent and their status in Eastasia
will remain the same no matter how many tens of billions of dollars the
U.S. and other Western countries give in aid. I'll finish with a nice
quote about charity from the koran or hadith:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Thereupon Mas'ud leapt upon Sunayna, one of the Jewish merchants
with whom his family had social and commercial relations and killed

The people who are receiving this aid will long remember who it was that
helped them, and who didn't.

Simple, it doesn't exist. Muslims are liars and thieves.
Don't trust their words. Watch their actions.

Tsunami: Schumi donates $10m
05/01/2005 09:06 - (SA)

Paris - Seven-time world Formula One champion Michael Schumacher led the
pack of sporting donors to victims of last week's Asian tsunamis, gifting a
massive $10m.

"The dawning of the New Year has not been as joyful for us this year because
of the catastrophe in Asia," Schumacher said.

"We sympathise with the victims in their grief," said Schumacher, whose own
government was set to become the biggest donor to the Indian Ocean nations
devastated by tsunamis by pledging ?500m in aid.

Fellow German, tennis star Nicolas Kiefer came up with a novel way of
fund-raising, saying he would donate $100 per ace he served in three
Australian tournaments.

"For every ace, starting now in Adelaide, then in Sydney, and finally in
Melbourne, I will donate $100.

"Against Sjeng Schalken, I served five aces, or $500," for the victims of
the tsunamis, Kiefer said on his website, www.nicolas-kiefer.de

"I'd love to improve on that figure against my next opponent, Frenchman
Cyril Saulnier - and of course progress in the tournament," he said.

The German football federation and league announced a donation of ?1.5m,
while Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich will stump up at least ?300 000 for a
school or orphanage project in Sri Lanka.

"The number of victims, the images of devastation and the suffering of the
people have deeply moved us," said Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"We want to try to extend a hand to children and people who have suffered
and whose future appears so uncertain."

In addition, a Germany XI will play a friendly match on January 25 against a
Bundesliga select side, with proceeds also going to victims of the
catastrophe.

Spanish and French Basque footballing rivals Real Sociedad and Bayonne
meanwhile will also play a friendly, with proceeds going to the Red Cross.

The French football federation also donated ?1m in what is seen as a
kick-start to efforts to mobilise a donation drive across all sports.

Football's world ruling body Fifa also pledged $2m, but specified that it
was destined to help rebuild the footballing infrastructure in Asian
countries hit by last week's tsunamis.

Fifa said that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had also pledged $1m,
meaning a "solidarity fund" of $3m.

"Fifa and the AFC decided to concentrate on reconstructing the footballing
infrastructure in the affected areas," it said.

The football associations that will qualify for the aid are those in
Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Maldives, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and
Thailand.

The funds will be used to "donate football equipment to these associations
or their members."

Joseph Yates, you are a low rent, cancer-riddled waste of space.

Why not ask your question to someone in alt.culture.saudi and stop
posting shit to s.c.f?

Now ESAD, hopefully before Easter 2005 so I can collect my winnings
from the bookmakers.

So what? I have bladder cancer, severe allergies, interstitial
cystitis, a hyatal hernia, tendonitis, epichondryl condritis, and

4/1, which is not too bad when you consider that georgie yates has

I am certainly not into such polls, but to answer you question of last night
(our time) Daniel, my type should have been "didn't". Actually my intent
when I started the response you took issue with, I was attacking the
selfishness of the Arab world and how they think so little of the Muslims of
Asia. This was proved over and over again when I lived in Saudi Arabia,
they treated the Asian ex-pats dreadfully!! Norma

meant don't ("I" being next to "O" on the keyboard) and it does change
the meaning of the sentence.

In my experience of that part of the world, it is more a wealth-based
thing than a religious thing. It comes from them dealing with migrant
workers mainly on a subservient basis. It seems to be not just
restricted to their dealing with Muslim from Asia but to all people
from that part of the world.

You might have noticed that they react differently to Western males.

LOL. As you were in a senior position then that also counts.

I found the best barometer was to watch their attitude towards the
migrant workers in public places where they will mingle, like
airports. It does actually run both ways, with the migrant workers
still showing a level of deference.

Yeah Georgie, it seams that Frank Zappa knew you. The quote fits
perfectly to you as does the following song from FZ:

What's the ugliest
Part of your body?
What's the ugliest
Part of your body?
Some say your nose
Some say your toes
(I think it's your mind)
But I think it's YOUR MIND
(Your mind)
I think it's your mind, woo woo

ALL YOUR CHILDREN ARE POOR
UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF
SYSTEMS BEYOND THEIR CONTROL
A PLAGUE UPON YOUR IGNORANCE & THE GRAY
DESPAIR OF YOUR UGLY LIFE

Where did Annie go
When she went to town?
Who are all those creeps
That she brings around?

ALL YOUR CHILDREN ARE POOR
UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF LIES YOU BELIEVE
A PLAGUE UPON YOUR IGNORANCE THAT KEEPS
THE YOUNG FROM THE TRUTH THEY DESERVE . . .

Germany takes lead in aid effort

Germany says it is increasing its aid pledge tsunami victims to more
than 500m euros (£352m or $661m).

This makes Germany the biggest European donor to the relief effort for
Asian countries hit by the disaster.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said his country was ready to
increase its pledge from £75m ($100m or 53m euros) to several hundred
million.

He said the UK would also join a conference to discuss the
cancellation of the affected countries' debts.

The German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who announced his country's
increase in aid on Wednesday, also backed calls for leading industrial
nations to examine debt relief.

"The cabinet has decided today to commit 500m euros, and for a period
over not less than three years and not more than five years," he said.

The BBC's Ray Furlong says Germany is already struggling to get its
budget deficit below limits set by the EU's Stability Pact for
countries using the euro.

But Mr Schroeder dismissed any doubts about the aid, saying the money
would be drawn from the government's existing budget for this year.
Senior representatives from 26 nations are expected to take part in
the donors' conference that opens in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta,
on Thursday. Participants will focus on co-ordinating the aid and
recovery efforts.

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and US Secretary of State Colin Powell
have already arrived in Indonesia.

Contributions

In the list of major donors, Germany is second only to Australia,
which announced that it was planning to provide A$1bn ($764m or £406m
or 577 m euros).

Germany is followed by Japan which has pledged $500m (£266m or 378m
euros), followed by the US with $350m (£186m or 264m euros) and Norway
with $181m (£96m or 136m euros).

The World Bank has pledged $250m (£133m or 189m euros).

Almost all EU members, including many eastern European governments,
have allocated millions of dollars to help countries in the disaster
zone.

Germany is also the leader in private donations, having collected more
than a third of the world's total.

It is followed by Britain where private donations exceed government
pledges by almost 50%.
