As much as I loved downloading Crossover Games 7.1.0, I can't help but worry a
bit for the future of Codeweavers after this Lame Duck Challenge...

I might love 7.1.0 but I'd sure be happier to know there'll be a CX 8.0
somewhere in the future.

Anyway that was pretty cool of you all to keep your word in these er...
interesting times, and I wish the publicity will really spread the word !

And at this point, I don't think this is going to really harm us. In
fact, I'm feeling fairly confident that it will be a major boost. We
really felt that not enough people knew about us, and I think we took a
major step towards correcting that.

And, if it's encouraging, our daily sales revenue (sans Tuesday) has
held up strong, so I think my optimism, while early, may be justified.

Sigh. I have installed Office 2007 under Crossover Pro 7.1 and it has
overwritten all my file type preferences in Gnome and Firefox.
I have sorted the ones in Gnome but having some problems finding where
to fix the Firefox mime types since they aren't in the Firefox programme
Applications tab, but I suspect they are in a Gnome MIME type setting
somewhere.
Before I start the inevitable Googling, can anyone here point me to a
solution?

It's a shame that we who only want Office 2007 for the occasional file
can't install it without it taking over.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I expected the install to ask me whether to install
the bindings.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I expected the install to ask me whether to install
the bindings.

The CrossOver configuration utility has a panel where you can configure
associations, and enable/disable them to your hearts content. That should
help you out.

I do agree that Office 2007 sure is greedy about the mime types it wants.

But please note that almost all of our customers are surly when the effect
you crave happens - they expect Office 2007 to be installed as the mime
type handler.

It will export the corresponding MIME type, so that Gnome knows what
icon to show when it finds a file with that extension; but it will not
register the application as a handler for that MIME type, so the
application will not even appear in the 'Open With...' list.

that it is pretty badly worded. Oh well. Some more documentation fixing
for me today :-/

Actually you can.
In the last step of the 'Windows Application Installation Wizard' there
is a 'View installed associations' check box. It is unchecked by
default, but if you check it and then click on 'Next' you will get a
dialog that shows you all the associations that Office 2007 created on
the Windows side. For each of them you can then decide whether Office
2007 should be made the default, or just be present in the 'Open With'
list, or not be present at all.

Well that's quite a good news then. It's true a little (!) publicity never
hurts :)

I'm greatful for the chance to renew for free, but so far I've had very little luck with running games in either Crossover Games or Crossover Pro on my MacBook. Every game I've tried seems to work up until it goes full screen, and then all I get is a blank screen. Peggle Deluxe, for example. Also a couple SNES emus and some other things. I can install Steam, but then can't download any apps. Well, I did find that thread about how to use the web browser to go to the Steam store and download/install apps, but then I ran into the black screen problem when running the games I downloaded. It seems to me there were some other issues as well that I'm forgetting. Can you provide an example of game (free demo, or free full version), that actually works?

Also, I really am not sure what the point is of Crossover Games or, rather of having the separate. In the past I could easily install a game and then, when I found that I needed to install IE in the bottle to get some functionality to work, I could do that easily via the provided install option. Now I have to manually download IE (or whatever) and install it manually. Moreover, I can't use Crossover Pro for games as easily as the past versions, where this functionality was all in one app.

Hi, I'm running
Pro-7.1.0rc1 on Ubuntu 8.04.? I have MS Office XP installed in a Win98
bottle.? When I double click on an MS Office file (.doc, .ppt, etc)
under nautilus, the file opens right up.? I am running Lotus notes and
when I click on an imbedded file in a note, nothing happens.? After
doing some research, Lotus notes issues a Gnome-open under the covers.?
When I issue the following command I receive the following error:

Error showing url: There is no default action associated with this location.



So it seems that the action association from CrossOver is kicking in
from Nautilus, but not from the gnome-open perspective.? Is there a way
to get this to work?
