Last day of school for most kids today exceptions being Vulnerable children, children whose parents are involved in Health and social care,Education and childcare, Key public services, Local and national government, provision/supply of Food and other necessary goods, Public safety and national security, Transport, Utilities, communication and financial services

There can surely only be one reason why children should be out of school and that is that somehow they will be better off in some way by remaining at home.

But we have two distinct groups here. Surely one is going to be disadvantaged over the other and the logical distinction should be that all children should be in school or all children should be at home.

One cannot have it both ways, children cannot be better off in school and at home so why can't schools run normally?

''schools'' are baby sitting services for inadequate parented

the children of the uneducated classes are better in school...
and very likely their parents/carers with them as well
the children of the middle and educated classes are better
out of schools, if the carers could be bothered to educate
them

of course the uneducated children could benefit from contact
with the children of the educated classes if the children
of the und educated were disciplined to civilised behaviour
but i can't see that happening

One problem at our local school is that too many of the staff are off
now. Our lad's teacher is very young, but she apparently has a
cardiovascular problem and is off because of that.

Parents need help in supermarkets.

Children can run faster than the elderly, and can knock them out of the way.
So why not have them sprinting around the aisles grabbing random stuff from
the shelves (which they are used to doing anyway) and being allowed to put
them in the multiple trolleys which the adult(s) have corralled by the
warehouse door just in case pallets of new stuff appear?

Never go shopping with children - the bill is always twice what it would
normally be :-)

Ideally, one of those would have been identified as better and would
have been opted for.

But there are other factors at work, including the issue of parents
being diverted from pressing and socially-necessary jobs to looking
after their children.

In the end, it's a statistical gamble.
