Well that is not especially wise. I can understand
the trepedations ... but long-term you will make more
money from stocks than most anything else. In their
way they are almost as anti-inflationary as gold and
a lot easier to deal with.

The trick is not to freak-out in the short term ... or
make the common error of trying for get-rich-quick
stocks.

The current market will decline some more, pause,
and then start to shoot up again. If Trump remains
POTUS it will go up faster and further. This virus
will be history by mid/late summer. After that the
sky is the limit. Everybody will be in a rush to make
up for lost time.

So, as they say, buy low, sell high .........

And do not invest in bullshit companies no matter
WHAT the loons on TV might say.

As for Mr. Deadbeat, well, I suspect he believes
in Bernies "free money" bullshit heart and soul :-)
Sorry, no golden goose, no gold to spread around.
Welcome to the food queue - whatever it is they
will be out of it by the time your turn comes around.

In June, 2009, when the market had hit bottom, I cashed out some
low-interest CDs and Series EE bonds and invested them in mutual funds. Four
years later I had doubled my money. It's now worth about three times what I
originally invested. 13% annual growth is OK by me...

Correct. It has a ways to go yet. Expect it to dribble down
for another month at least. There IS a big business hit at
the moment, not counting the Saudi/Russian oil war.
However when people see the world did not end biz will
come zooming back .... unless we elect more Obama
think-alikes. Trump is the right guy to get a quick reversal
going.

A lot of people are not re-investing, they are just in a panic
to liquidate stocks and get cash. The IRS will just *love*
them for that - it will pay for the virus programs :-)

In any case, like in 2009, panic makes you LOSE lots of
money. The Dems/media are doing their best to create
panic in hopes of hurting Trump - and to hell what it
does to Joe American in the process. If we want a quick
recovery, vote TRUMP.

Now that is going to get even more interesting. There is speculation
that the Sauds and the Russians are targeting the US oil business with
this supposed 'war' (ie, they can both produce cheaply as opposed to the
US with a high cost of production).

Trump is no help. In fact he's a hindrance given how poorly he reads.
He caused more confusion and panic with his speech on the coronavirus
when he said "These prohibitions will not only apply to the tremendous
amount of trade and cargo, but various other things as we get approval."
He added that "only" when it shouldn't have been there and the market
responded by dropping.

LOL. It does rather depend on what you mean by 'get' it. It seems to
already be confirmed that everyone will eventually come into contact
with it even if that is some time down the track and mutated enough to
be less problemmatical. So even the silly germaphobe Trump will 'get'
it at some time - hopefully before the dozy clot does more damage given
how slow off the mark the US has been to deal with this outbreak.

Sanders and Biden and Trump and Pence - and Chuck
and Nancy too - are relatively OLD people. They are all
in the higher-risk group.

So what happens if they ALL drop dead from C19 ???

Who is 3rd, 4th, 5th in line ?

Can another timely election be organized, or will it
just get put off forever ?

Still not ideal.

I looked it up on WikiPedia ...

The order is :
Pence
Pelosi
Chuck Grassley (senate pro-tem)
Pompeo
Mnuchin
Mark Esper
Bill Barr

The only good news is that, after Pelosi, they are ALL Republicans.

I am sure that is part of the plan.

HOWEVER that may backfire. The C19 virus will
cause a shift in the supply chain for awhile. Thanks
to Trump, the USA is now a net producer and can
easily accomodate its own needs. Locking out
travel/commerce due to the virus insulates us in
more ways than one. If any damage is done, it
will mostly be felt in europe.

Beat you to the story by about half an hour Byker ! :-)

Anyways, this step was already overdue. Better extend
it to ALL foreign travel - and most domestic travel as
well.

Some, even on FOX, are cautioning about getting
TOO free with restrictions because, like the Patriot
Act stuff, they tend not to go away. However I see
no sane alternatives in the short term.

Trump was smart by alluding to past trials like WW-2.
Everybody did their part back then because it was
NECESSARY. Well, to a somewhat more restricted
extent it is necessary again. This is not an enemy we
can bomb into oblivion, other tactics are required.
The damned thing will be gone before the end of
summer. The trick is to limit the damage in the
meanwhile.

And be ready for the NEXT virus. We supposedly
have the technology, but we have to be ready to
leverage it, quick, next time. No bullshitting around.
Hey, what if this was REAL biological warfare ?
Iran could definiitely do that, so could NK. We
cannot afford to be SO slow in getting vaccines
and good treatments out there.

Kind of expected.

Helped along further by leftist panic-mongering.

Should have suspended travel, both ways, a couple of
weeks ago, IMHO ...........................

Oh well, the market shall rise again. It will rise a LOT
faster with Trump at the helm. With Dems, well, we
would just get Obama all over again ; almost no growth.
