Stephen Fry on Project Fear:

'Viewers hail Stephen Fry's 'perfect' Brexit 'myth busting' video claiming
Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg are the real 'Project Fear'

'Viewers have hailed a video by Stephen Fry which aims to skewer
"myths" he claims were spread by the campaign to leave the EU.

'During the 11-minute animated video shared on YouTube and Twitter,
the actor and novelist shared "the story of how a mythical EU dragon
was conjured up".

'He begins by comparing anti-migrant media stories to Nazi propaganda,
picking out a Katie Hopkins column in which she wrote: "Show me
pictures of coffins, show me bodies floating in water, play violins and
show me skinny people looking sad. I still don’t care."

'He also highlights a leaflet distributed by the Vote Leave campaign
which suggested five countries in south-eastern Europe were "set to
join the EU".

'In fact, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey have all
applied to join - but, Mr Fry points out: "Turkey applied over 30 years
ago."

'It is thought unlikely any of the five will soon join. ...'

'... Finally he calls Brexiteers Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson
the "arch-instigators of electoral fear" who are themselves firmly
rooted in the establishment.'

Ninety percent emotional claptrap with five percent dodgy facts, the
other five percent interpretation, to suit his view.

Condemns the alleged demonisation of Europe, his invented Dragon is
farcical, then pursues throughout the film, to demonise all who don't
agree with him. Demonises the demonisers, very old trick and the clip,
where Nazi propaganda is compared with issues in the Brexit Campaign is
simply disgraceful! Brexiteers are not Nazis!

Then he pulls, "the Brexiters are not educated", sorry that has already
been done to death. Yep paint us all as uneducated louts and we then
become sub-human and no right to make decisions in our society, does he
not sound a Nazi himself?

I would say he has bigger issues with Boris and Rees-Mogg than the
Brexiters!

Nice try Fry but we're still leaving!

What a foul and arrogant fucked up man.

A really puerile effort.

What an embarrassment for the Remainers, poor sods.

If May's deal is passed by parliament, we are leaving. If not, the
future is far less certain. If the deal is rejected, it could trigger a
general election and, if Labour get in and want to try to negotiate a
different deal they would need to get the EU to agree to extend the
negotiation period and change the due date to leave.

Alternatively, there apparently is quite a lot of Commons support for
another referendum, which could result in no Brexit. The ECJ is
currently deciding whether the UK could unilaterally withdraw its
Article 50 notification. However, lawyers agree that the EU could not
refuse a request for a jointly negotiated cancellation of the
notification. That would amount to ejecting a member state from the EU,
which is not something the EU has the powers to do.

Tony Blair on Good Morning Britain today said there should be two
questions on the ballot:

Leave with no deal.

Remain in the EU.

I do quite like it. It kind of puts Brexiters on the spot.

Does it?

How?

That question would be a no-brainer. Only the first option is compatible
with the referendum result, meaning that there is no point in putting it
to the vote again.

The only question with any meaning would be:

(a) Leave with the agreed deal.

(b) Leave without a deal.

Of course there would. There is a lot more information available about
what leaving the EU really means and many people may well have changed
their opinions.

The Advocate General of the ECJ is of the opinion that we can change our
mind on that at any time up to the leaving date:

That isn't "Project Fear".

Project Fear was the campaign of scare stories fabricated by the Remain
side before and since the referendum. The emergency budget for 24th June
2016 was one part of it.

You know full well that it was the immediate actions of the Bank of
England that helped to minimise the effect of the 'shock horror'
referendum result on the economy.

The probable need for an emergency budget (and several other dire
warnings) were not lies as such, but instead only somewhat over-egged
pessimistic predictions. Nevertheless, some of these have already shown
signs of eventually becoming fact, and they (and maybe others that were
not predicted) are increasingly likely if we end up with a crap Brexit.

This is in stark contrast to a series of populist lies (not
'predictions') concocted by the campaigners for Leave, and that were
readily lapped up by those who preferred simply to hear what they wanted
to hear.

I know no such thing. The BoE has taken no "immediate actions" to
strengthen the pound or stabilise the exchange rate. On the contrary, it
continues to pour newly-created money into the bottomless pit of
inflation instead of taking the obvious step of raising interest rates.
