will still be celebrating when Alabama is playing Georgia in the sec title game?

This loss was meaningful for Bama in that now Bama *may* now have to win the sec title game against georgia to make the playoffs(can't say for sure because eventually a 2 loss team will get in). That was different in that before last night the Bama/Georgia loser was guaranteed a spot. Now if it's Bama they aren't.

But nothing changes in the big picture....Georgia and Alabama are still easily the best teams. But have to give Georgia the edge now in that game unless
Bama corrects some of their issues.

And Bama deserved to lose last night. They kept blitzing again and again and again and never got to him.....at some point you have to stop as he's not Joe Burrow. And we were terrible inside the ten yard line of A&M. And although Bryce young threw for a lot of yards, he also had a *lot* of misses and it seems on the biggest throws of the game he was off. He's got to play better.

But Saban with Bama has won 4 national titles after a loss. It's up to Bama to make the neccessary adjustments before the showdown with Georgia.

And yes I do think we will see that, because Bama still controls their own destiny and I don't see anyone else taking the west. Hell even if Bama were to lose another conference game before georgia(which I don't see happening) they may get to Atlanta, because it's not like A&M is a lock to finish with just 2 losses. But I think Bama makes the neccessary adjustments, cleans things up, and goes into Atlanta to play Georgia with an
outstanding 11-1 record.

Saban and Alabama have won 4* national titles during his tenure there when they have been 'losers' once during the season.

Not saying this will be #5 and not saying it won't be.....but anyone writing off Alabama because of this loss is misguided. The bottom line is we were likely going to have to beat georgia at least once, maybe twice to win a national title. And honestly, that is the exact same place we are in today. Georgia is still the team we are going to have to go through to get a natty. Now we just may not get a second chance if we don't get it done in atlanta.

*that represents the twice the number of creams your head coach was putting in saban's coffee during that time, if that helps the perspective :)

I bet the A&M fans are going to remember celebrating the win over Alabama longer than they’re going to remember who ends up winning the SEC West or what place A&M finishes in.

I was going to make this point. For games I attended, I remember all the wins over Michigan or Ohio State, no matter how the rest of the season went.

My first Miss State was a rare win over Alabama. They were on a really long unbeaten streak with back-to-back MNCs and were still being coached by Bear Bryant. I’ll never forget the score, 6-3, but I don’t remember which place either team finished in the standings. I know neither won the SEC, since that was the year Georgia and freshman Hershall Walker won it all.

Then why are we playing the season? Serious question.

If Bama rolls the rest of the group and it gets down to Bama and Cincy for the #4, you know who they will take -- they'll take a two-loss Bama over Cincy to keep the Go5 out.

More than the edge now. Saban actually was forecasting this several games now -- maybe just not THIS particular game.

Saban has said that for several weeks.

11-2 and "The Eye Test" will be enough. They get to 11-1, and they are in the CFP if the option at #4 is them and Cincinnati.

I think it depends on where the committee places Alabama right before the CCGs. Assuming it's #1 Georgia vs #4 Alabama, if Alabama loses, and whoever was #5 at the time wins (or doesn't play), the committee is going to have a hard time justifying keeping Alabama at 4. Then again, that assumes that 2 and 3 both win - otherwise, Alabama stays at 4 while the #5 team jumps over them to 3. (Then again again, in that case, maybe they come up with an excuse to move Alabama to 3 just to prevent an SEC CCG rematch in the semi-finals.)

considering that the two teams that beat aTm are on Alabama's schedule, I wouldn't count my monthly visits until the tide has rolled.

that was just a unique and rather fluky string of events that all came together unlikely last saturday night. The environment also played a factor.

That environment will not be duplicated again this year. It's really hard to find a spot on Bama's schedule that it could happen. @Auburn is actually the most likely.
