OT - I'm Back

In case anyone has noticed that, and/or wondered why, I haven't
posted here in over a month, there's a very good reason. On or about
February 9th or 10th I had a heart attack (So I'm told - I never felt
it.). On February 17th I had open-heart coronary artery triple-bypass
surgery. After six days of recovery and early-stage rehab in the
hospital, I was transferred to a rehab facility where I spent almost
three weeks. Now, and for at least the next 3 1/2 weeks, I'm staying
with my granddaughter and her family, putting the finishing touches on
my rehab, before I can return to my own home. Now that I've retrieved
one of my computers from home I should be back to posting here
occasionally.

Sorry to hear about your travails, but glad things are working out. My advice is to get back home asap, now that you have to worry about coronavirus in addition to your recovery. I'm limiting the visits from my family because of my high risk factors, even though I do some shopping at comparatively low traffic times (and plan to continue as long as it's permitted).

Yes. Sorry to hear that. And welcome back. Stay well.

That wouldn't work for me. I live alone, and for eight weeks
following the surgery I'm not allowed to drive, or even sit in the
front passenger seat of, a car. A healing breast bone and the
possibility of activating an airbag are not a healthy combination. So
for the next 3+ weeks my granddaugter is driving me wherever I need to
go, and I am just a back-seat driver. She works from home so she has
the flexibility to do that.

Understood. Some supermarkets in this area are opening an hour
or two early just for seniors, so they have a chance to shop at a
less-trafficed time.

If you never felt it how did you end up going to a doctor or hospital?

I had some discomfort in my chest (which was probably a result
of the attack) and when it didn't go away I called my doctor.

So you're talking a few days after the heart attack I guess.

It was a day or two. I was OK on Saturday February 8, I had the
discomfort on Sunday February 9, and when I still had it on Monday
February 10 I called my doctor. After I described my symptoms I was
told to get to the hospital. I don't actually know if the discomfort
was a result of the atteck, a precursor to it, or some combination
thereof, and the medical people couldn't pinpoint the date/time it
occurred either. That's why I used the phrase "on or about" in my
original post.

Welcome home Ken and good to see you back here!

I've had a bit of very good "heart" news myself yesterday when I was
advised that the results of my contrast eco-cardiogram that I had a
couple of weeks ago showed everything in the engine room in my chest
working a++ and all being in pretty good shape for my age :-)

And for my weight :-(
