Discussion:
Biblical and Ontological Question about Man.

The Bible says Man was created in God's 'image'.
Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that Man was
mad to be God's 'reflection'? Whether we are images
or reflections are very different constructs of reality.

Is man an image of God, or is he just a reflection?
What do you think? I think we are reflections, sort of
like God looking at himself in the mirror.

I think the bible was written by men and that the claims
found within are little more than the guesswork & wishful
thinking of those men.

I think the Bible is mostly a hodge podge of disharmony an confusion.
Anyone can use it to say whatever they want. It does have some
deep metaphysical questions it makes you think about. But answers
to those questions are not limited to the Bible. And I do believe it
possible secret messages are encoded. But mostly I think it's just a
crutch for people who don't want to take responsibility for their soul.
Many are wicked evil wretches who need to latch on to something
to justify their lack of self mastery or self control.

Isn't it nice that they have something to latch on to? Or would
you prefer that they not have that?

If a person were drowning in a lake, I wouldn't throw them
a Bible and say, here that's better than nothing.

Do you think the world would be a better place without
the Bible? Before you answer, keep in mind that the old
USSR rid the Bible from their society. Do you know how
many of its own citizens were murdered by that atheistic
government during its relatively brief history?

I think you've got it backwards.

The bible is a creation of the world, a reflection there of. The world
made the bible.

"The world made the Bible"
That's very nice succinct way of putting it.
I'll have to remember that one.

No, there's something far more powerful about the Bible
than that it's just another book. What other book has you
so fascinated that you've spent hours researching it so
you could discuss it on usenet?

Since he won't answer the question, I will give my answer for you.
I think the world would be a FAR BETTER PLACE without the Bible.
Is there any part of the above statement that you do not understand?

Inanimate objects do not have any power Steven.
But you can relinquished your power to them. Without
you giving the Bible it's 'power' it would have no intrinsic
value.
Post by Steven Douglas

so fascinated that you've spent hours researching it so

Needing to research a Book that long indicates that
it is probably bullshit. It doesn't take that much time
to understand a book. I can absorb all the truth in
a math or computer science book within a matter
of days. Why do you think the Bible needs all the
hoards of masses working on it's true meaning?
The short answer is probably because it has none.

Also, I think a wise man would invest as much time needed
to educate themselves on the workings of the people
who want to harm them. That is the best way to take
down an enemy, by knowing what they have learned.

Since he won't answer the question,
Yes, I don't know why he can't just give a straight answer like
you did. I wonder what it is about the Bible that prevents him
from just answering the question in a straightforward manner?

Thank you for your answer, but I added a comment to the
question that you didn't address. All you have to do is look
at what happens to a society where the Bible is banned. As
I noted, we have the example of the old USSR where that
government murdered many millions of their own people.

Yes, actually, there is. Maybe you can explain why you think
the world would be a better place without the Bible. Maybe
you can give me an example of a place in this world where
they banned the Bible, and tell me what kind of society they
have there.

I did answer it. I told you that you've got it backwards, that the dependency is not
on the bible but the world: The world created the bible.

Which means, if you must play dense, that the world changes the bible but the
bible can't change the world.

Why do you think someone should respond to a question
where the answer is obvious. Why even pose the question
when you have already decided on the answer.

Because I was hoping he (or you, or anyone) would show me

In the context of Biblical End Times? You just told me you
think the vaccine is the mark of the beast, but the real mark
of the beast is something else that will be from the Antichrist.
That's not a threat, that's a Biblical prophecy that even you

The Bible is not 'prophecy'. It comes across more
like an instruction manual. It's looks like prophecy
but actually it's billions of idiots being instructed or
lead off a steep cliff. You will see when the time
comes.

It's a correction. Your question was stupid. The bible didn't create
the word, the world created it. You have the tail wagging the dog,

It seems to me you have decided on a yes to the
question. That is the answer you are hoping for.
But your question has no meaning. For a proper
answer you should first define what you mean
by the word 'better' and for who will experience
it. Usually better for one means less for another.
Most things follow the general law of conservation.

Why can't you just tell me whether
Just because you are capable of asking something -- like maybe the
color of the invisible elephant up your nose -- doesn't mean that the
question is valid.

Your question is based on an erroneous assumption.
