Perils of Cruising Part 1:
Do not fall overboard. Always walk 5 paces behind partner. Keep away
from railings.

Perils of Cruising Part 2:
Groundhog (Android) stops working. Anyone know of anything else I can
use please?

Perils of Cruising Part 3 will be a separate and far more painful post.

Don't throw Daddy's diamond cuff-links overboard and let them blame the
maid. Oops: have I just blurted out a family secret?

Under the circumstances I think umra might offer a special but very
temporary dispensation for you to use Google Groups and for us not to
moan about it.

Cor - you know how to work an audience, don't you?

Take care & have fun.

Of course. I have been trying to entertain around here for about 20
years I think!

No offence taken.

I have just finished listening to Three Men* in a Boat. Watch out for swans.

I wish I had kept my recording of Three Women in a Boat; they took a cat.

So that you are both forever going round in small circles.

I have found an app which appears to work. However it seems completely
different to Groundhog.

Do other umrats give up when on holiday?

Groundhog works fine on my Android phone and tablet. They are old
however and no longer update themselves to the latest version of Android.

I think the latest Android upgrade simply refuses to allow Groundhog to
work on my "newish" (ie last year's) model.

If it works it's completely different to Groundhog, IME.

I don't really do holidays, but usually have TB on my lapdog if I'm away
from home for more than a day or 2. Otherwise I give up temporarily and
catch up later.

Can you put TB on an android phone - no lapdog other than the four
legged kind in this house?

It's very rare that I leave home for more than a night without my

Yes. I have never found a satisfactory way of reading newsgroups when
away from my main computer. But I don't have as many holidays as you do
so it's not really a problem :)

I did a little reading on google groups when staying with d#2 recently. She
swaps ISP periodically, chasing deals. I take the ancient netbook when
staying with d#1 as she is with Plusnet and my Agent-on-a-stick works just
fine. I guess if I used a different newsfeed I could also use it on
anyone's free wifi on the netbook although the battery is useless so would
need to be plugged into power too.

Yes. Backlog now down from about 1100 to 350, falling slowly.

UMRA I read on my return, other groups I tend to be a bit more
ruthless.

Facebook is pretty much water under the bridge, though I do have
a feeling that I have missed something.

For emails I do an initial scan, then work through the rest in
time.

As I have said before, I only use data on my phone to synchronise
my Fitbit every few days when away from home.

Me too, also, as well - mostly.

I sometimes visit Google gropes to see what is going on, but I use that
as read only - I wouldn't post from there.
