Mr H. R. Bhardwaj a political appointee of congress party at the center, who has been posted as governor of Karnataka has always been a controversial figure, remember his role in ottavio quatrochi case as union law minister, you can not expect such people to uphold constitutional norms, in the first place i fail to understand why such tainted political people are appointed to the gubernatorial posts? eminent educationists, constitutional experts, scientists, people of good morals and character should hold the office. it makes no sense to appoint people with political affiliations to the post of governor, also when a person is appointed as speaker of the house he should resign from the party from which he is elected. ever heard of a governor sending advisory to the speaker as to how he should conduct proceedings of the house? if congress party has any semblance of shame they should recall the governor as such people are disgrace in any civilized democracy.

Dear Mr Sangekar,

Let me guess. Do correct me if I am wrong. You are a partisan
supporter of the BJP.

Are you suggesting that the governors appoint by the BJP (during their
tenure) were NOT political appointees or that they were beyond
reproach?

Are you suggesting that the Governor's palace in Goa was not used as a
'paid-for-by the people' hotel for BJP bigwigs and cronies? (just as
it is used by the Congress chaps)

Are you suggesting that there was no political horse-trading, sleeping
with the enemy, corruption and coups which helped the BJP claim power
in Goa?

I personally believe that there is a facade of democracy in so called
democratic-countries. Sure, it is a best of the bad options for
governance (if one can use that word accurately), but the will of the
people at elections is subverted by the politicians immediately
post-election. Do you disagree?

The general trend it that those who hate the BJP will have the
following talking points: Babri destruction, LK Advani, Narendra Modi,
Goa VideoCD, Parrikar's coup to become CM, corruption, communalism,
attacks on Christians, attacks of women having a drink in a bar or
holding hands on Valentine's Day. I did not mention kissing ...because
'Indians do not have sex' .(;-)

Those who hate the Congress will have the following talking points:
Sonia, Catholic, She was just a waitress, Italian like the Vatican,
The Pope is a bad person, Rahul is only half Indian, Indira-emergency,
Corruption, Digu-kaka and vote bank (never mind that it existed from
the BJP days), More corruption, Foreign money supporting activities in
India, the author of VideoCD is a Katlick, Catholic church is Videshi
and must become Swadeshi, Indian girls must follow Indian customs or
deserve a beating.

Non-partisans just carry on with their life knowing fully well that
ALL politicians are "as honest as their profession allows them to be".

Dear Mr J Colaco

Let me guess. Do correct me if I am wrong. You are a partisan supporter
of the Congress or a so called non-partisan-but-vote-for-congress guy.

Are you suggesting that Congress can take shelter of all the mistakes BJP
committed and yet continue loot the people of India?

Just because BJP resorted to political horse-trading, sleeping
with the enemy, corruption and coups to claim power in Goa, Congress is
justified in its rape of Goa?

I do agree with you on:

The general trend it that those who hate the BJP will have the
following talking points: Babri destruction, LK Advani, Narendra Modi,
Goa VideoCD, Parrikar's coup to become CM, corruption, communalism,
attacks on Christians, attacks of women having a drink in a bar or
holding hands on Valentine's Day.

Those who hate the Congress will have the following talking points:

the BJP days), More corruption, Foreign money supporting activities in
India, the author of VideoCD is a Katlick, Catholic church is Videshi
and must become Swadeshi, Indian girls must follow Indian customs or
deserve a beating.

But, let me correct you a bit here:

Non-partisans (as perceived by most on Goanet) just carry on with
their life knowing fully well that ALL politicians are "as honest as their
profession allows them to be" and therefore VOTE FOR CONGRESS,
no matter what congress does. Everytime Congress commits crimes,
defend by pointing out similar crime BJP did at some stage etc.. etc...

I consider Non-partisans are those who call a spade a spade irrespective
of BJP or Congress or MGP or....

And finally my question: How many of each of these categories are
active on Goanet?

Dear Mr. Sait,

Allow me to answer the questions posed and to make a few brief comments.

re # 1: You are 100% wrong.

re # 2 & 3: The answer is NO. These two points also demonstrate the
farce of democracy aka India. The ordinary folks are caught between
the corrupt + pretend-secular and the corrupt + communal.

re # 4: You are right. I would add the exact same sentiment wrt the BJP

re # 5: You are 100% correct.

re # 6: I love statistics and I understand the sentiment expressed -
especially as I have heard it stated so many times in certain quarters
by a certain 'set' of individuals. Even so, I spend time on GoaNet to
express my views - usually in response to some event or another post;
NOT on trying to work out the existence of 'categories' on Goanet.? If
you have, please advise.

Bottom Line: Goa Politicians have behaved like the scum of the earth.
Do not see why ostensibly educated individuals should waste their
money on them - unless they are either fierce partisans or totally
fierce fools.

i fully endorse Mr Vijay Sait,s respoce to you, he has answered most of your questions put to me.let me clear some points, i am not even a ordinary member of any political party nor i am a partisan supporter of BJP OR CONGRESS. I am a votary of good governance which Mr Manohar Parrikar as CM GAVE US.

When i compare Mr P.Rane, w.d'souza,L.Faleiro,F.Sardinha' with s.kakodkar and M.Parrikar i find both of them are way above the cong. CMS.as far as governance goes.AS REGARDS Mr D.B.Bandodker he was the best CM We ever had.

I am not condoning any political appointees made by BJP.In a globalized world, mandir, masjid, swadeshi church, videshi church, pandits, mulhas, priests, are not of much relevance.i stand by my statement that political appointees of congress are disgrace, namely S.C. jAMIR, N. D. Dear Mr. Sangekar,

Let me agree with you that Mr P.Rane, w.d'souza,L.Faleiro,F.Sardinha
were all lousy CMs and disagree with you wrt Bandodkar (Deputations,
Merger with Maharashtra & Zuari), Kakodkar(10% bus) and Parrikar (IFFI
and VideoCD).

Besides that, You and I can intellectualize as much as we want - but
the fact is that the will of Goans is no longer 'controlling' in Goa.
Politicians will make whatever deals they have to - in order to get
into or keep themselves in power. They will sleep with the enemy, kiss
Monster Rats, hug Micky Mouse and pull coups. And yet, we will even
send them money.

BTW: Your endorsement of Sait's response is noted. As I have already
responded to him, I will leave that alone.

It is NOT my opinion that Congress will be in power in Goa at the next
elections UNLESS ....some more BJPs who previously were Congress and
previous to that, MGP.

Whatever happens, I sincerely hope that there is NO moral policing and
beating of women + wiping out Christianity ( a la Karnataka) by goons
who, I accept are Sadhu Sants, Sati Savitris and pure Christians like
the KKK (all in one).

I am done on this topic. I sincerely hope that ALL the politicians
lose their deposit in the next elections. It can happen IF no one
turns up to vote.

Dear Mr.

That's true. I too appreciated very much Fr Ivo's postings of Konkani
sayings, but feel that adding English translations would add value.

Here are some with English translations, from work done/collated by
Valmiki Faleiro:

Addveak tiddvem, addveak kaddvem
A crook encountered a crook-and-half

Adhar nasleli nari, bhonvta dara dari
A helpless woman goes from door to door

Adinch bail asli nachri, atam tichea paiank bandhleo ghagri
The woman was already a dancing nautch, now they have given her
anklets (tingling bells were tied at the ankles of professional
dancing girls)

Adinch xit xellem, tantunt bhorlem varem
The rice was already cold, now it's filled with air

Aforkim rai randdiecho, uzrim dhoni amcho
Behind his back the king is a son of a bitch, in his presence he is
our mighty king

Ag khaun, ingle agta (old: Agni khanu, inghalle hagota)
He who eats fire, shits coals

Looking forward to more contributions on this front... specially with
English translations. I recall the old-time Goanet posts which used to
be labelled as "Old Konkani Saying" (was that from Eddie Fernandes?)
and also the book of "Grams" (forget the full title) brought out by
some Goan network in Toronto. FN

Here are some with English translations, from work done/collated by
Valmiki Faleiro:

Addveak tiddvem, addveak kaddvem
A crook encountered a crook-and-half

Adhar nasleli nari, bhonvta dara dari
A helpless woman goes from door to door

Adinch bail asli nachri, atam tichea paiank bandhleo ghagri
The woman was already a dancing nautch, now they have given her
anklets (tingling bells were tied at the ankles of professional
dancing girls)

Adinch xit xellem, tantunt bhorlem varem
The rice was already cold, now it's filled with air

Aforkim rai randdiecho, uzrim dhoni amcho
Behind his back the king is a son of a bitch, in his presence he is
our mighty king

Ag khaun, ingle agta (old: Agni khanu, inghalle hagota)
He who eats fire, shits coals

Looking forward to more contributions on this front... specially with
English translations. I recall the old-time Goanet posts which used to
be labelled as "Old Konkani Saying" (was that from Eddie Fernandes?)
and also the book of "Grams" (forget the full title) brought out by
some Goan network in Toronto. FN

Will there be a chance to see English translations of these? Two English
versions of Tamil proverbs: "He who has killed a hundred men, is fit to be a
Doctor"; "The tall palm tree gives no shade".

Mr H.

The general trend it that those who hate the BJP will have the
following talking points: Babri destruction, LK Advani, Narendra Modi,
Goa VideoCD, Parrikar's coup to become CM, corruption, communalism,
attacks on Christians, attacks of women having a drink in a bar or

the BJP days), More corruption, Foreign money supporting activities in
India, the author of VideoCD is a Katlick, Catholic church is Videshi
and must become Swadeshi, Indian girls must follow Indian customs or
deserve a beating.

Dev Bore Koru

Dear Mr colaco,

i fully endorse Mr Vijay Sait,s respoce to you, he has answered most of your questions put to me.let me clear some points, i am not even a ordinary member of any political party nor i am a partisan supporter of BJP OR CONGRESS.

I am not condoning any political appointees made by BJP.In a globalized world, mandir, masjid, swadeshi church, videshi church, pandits, mulhas, priests, are not of much relevance.i stand by my statement that political appointees of congress are disgrace, namely S.C. jAMIR, N. D. Tiwari, and now Mr Bhardwaj.Coming back to Goa's political scene let me assure you one thing if congress party with the present set of legislators stays in power for another ten years Goa will be destroyed beyond repair.

with regards,
MOG ASCHO,

Ravi Sangekar.

Mr H.

The general trend it that those who hate the BJP will have the
following talking points: Babri destruction, LK Advani, Narendra Modi,
Goa VideoCD, Parrikar's coup to become CM, corruption, communalism,
attacks on Christians, attacks of women having a drink in a bar or

the BJP days), More corruption, Foreign money supporting activities in
India, the author of VideoCD is a Katlick, Catholic church is Videshi
and must become Swadeshi, Indian girls must follow Indian customs or
deserve a beating.

Sonia, Catholic, She was just a waitress, Italian like the Vatican,
The Pope is a bad person, Rahul is only half Indian, Indira-emergency,
Corruption, Digu-kaka and vote bank (never mind that it existed from
the BJP days), More corruption, Foreign money supporting activities in
India, the author of VideoCD is a Katlick, Catholic church is Videshi
and must become Swadeshi, Indian girls must follow Indian customs or
deserve a beating.

Dear Mr Sangekar,

Are you suggesting that the governors appoint by the BJP (during their

Are you suggesting that the Governor's palace in Goa was not used as a

it is used by the Congress chaps)

Are you suggesting that there was no political horse-trading, sleeping

in Goa?

I personally believe that there is a facade of democracy in so called

governance (if one can use that word accurately), but the will of the
people at elections is subverted by the politicians immediately
post-election. Do you disagree?
