Yes. Her other children (remember them?) must be about adult now (last
time one of them was here, she took drugs - not that that makes her
adult, but not a _small_ child).

Apparently she is 42. Second daughter had grandson at 42.
he should have used a condom, even if she said she was on the pill,
which I doubt as she is too organic.

I suspect Jakob would agree with you[1].

I think this was pretty predictable[1], given how broody Kate has been,
ever since Xander was born. It wouldn't occur to her that the father
has any right to be consulted about this, once she's decided that it's
what she wants.

Well, he did say go home. He said he liked his own space. She was
outrageously ignoring the message. I think this was one of those
frequent moments in TA when we can't believe how outrageous a person
can be and nobody calls them on it. Susan did get called a little
while back. Forget by who. Lynda never seems to. Shula should have
been. Pip got fast action when she ignored Rex saying he didn't want
to discuss it.

Please, please, pretty please can Jakob have had a snip?

I'd forgotten (or I missed) Susan getting hers; it obviously didn't
stick, though. I think Lynda _did_ get hers, from whichever of Jill and
Peggy (you know I confuse those two) normally wouldn't have, and it was
all the more effective for being unexpected; L went quite quiet for a
while. (I don't mean she just disappeared like Ambridge folk do for SW
reasons - I mean she was present, but subdued. But then UMRAts will know
I think there's a nice person inside L, often hidden by lazy SWing.)

It's been suggested elsewhere (and perhaps here too but I can't find it
any more) that Kate is perimenopausal and has simply missed a period
because that happens sometimes, and that excessive broodiness is
exacerbating things. My ideal scenario would be that Jakob says he has
had snip, Kate doesn't believe him, hilarious consequences, Kate finally
goes to doctor, nothing there, has to face reality at last.

I hadn't considered the menopausal possibility - she seems too young but
I'm aware it sometimes happens early. The mothers of those I've met also
had early menopause so I guess there is a genetic factor involved - if this
is the case, Alice should bear it in mind.

Why would Jakob (who likes children) have had the snip? Not sure how old he
is but I've also heard of connections being re-established after vasectomy.

Well, that would be ok too. If she is actually pregnant and he's
snipped thenthere is always the chance it didn't work or something.
And she will insist it's his, or will she? She was very happy to tell
Pip and everyone she'd bounced with Toby. She bragged about it.

frequent moments in TA when we can't believe how outrageous a person
can be and nobody calls them on it. Susan did get called a little
while back. Forget by who. Lynda never seems to. Shula should have
been. Pip got fast action when she ignored Rex saying he didn't want
to discuss it.
The trouble was, neither could Jakob believe how outrageous Kate could
be and he clearly had no idea how to deal with it.

Please, please, pretty please can Jakob have had a snip?
That would be wonderful!  If that proved true, I wonder who the actual
father could be ;)
It's been suggested elsewhere (and perhaps here too but I can't find it
any more) that Kate is perimenopausal and has simply missed a period
because that happens sometimes, and that excessive broodiness is
exacerbating things.  My ideal scenario would be that Jakob says he has
had snip, Kate doesn't believe him, hilarious consequences, Kate finally
goes to doctor, nothing there, has to face reality at last.
Yes, that would be pretty good and entirely in keeping with both characters.

Manchego is probably my favourite cheese and I was eating some just now.
Whereas I've just had some very nice Gorgonzola to round off dinner in
my hotel in Cervinia.

We managed to make it out of Gatwick at 6.30 AM on Sunday despite Ciara,
- there was a very bumpy climb out but a very quick flight - only 75
minutes to Turin.

Unfortunately the weather has been bad with the resort closed for two
days and not at all inviting on the 3rd. Some of the party were chose to
go over to nearby Aosta/Pila for a day but as I'm meeting up with
NortyDorter and family for a few days on Sunday (and as I know it well
anyway) I gave that a miss.

High winds tomorrow as well - luckily I haven't bought a ski pass yet.

Never mind, got lots of books on the Kindle including an Ambrose Parry
which I'm enjoying. How could you not when the author(s) use phrases
like "as warm as an expiring penguin's dying fart". :)

Ciara has been very helpful to aircraft flying in the right direction,
provided they can survive the take-off and landing; the subsonic New
York to London record time has been broken. (Also the opposite effect on
ones going the other way, though I assume they can avoid the worst of
the jet stream by going above, below, or round it.)

The firm I worked for had a Cessna 421, which I flew in a few
times, the most memorably occasion was from Västerås to East
Midlands in headwinds were so strong that we had to stay below
about 10,000 ft in order to make significant progress, which
wasn't particularly comfortable.

The outgoing trip was able to cruise at its usual height, and
took just over 3 hours. The return was over 5 hours, but if we
had been higher, we wouldn't really have made much progress at
all.

Our diversion airport remained on the European mainland until we
were very close to the UK coast.

Yup, we used to buy Cambozola a few years back; we had a specialist cheese
counter in the Harris Arcade in Reading, purveyor of many wonderful
cheeses. The owner used to drive down to Somerset every week to purchase
some very tasty cheeses from one company and he introduced us to many
varieties of cheeses over the years. We couldn’t resist Gjetost when he
gave us a sample but one cheese I found to be just too much for me was
Rutland! Strangely though, a young Wunderkind liked it!

Is Gjetost the one like a cross between fudge and cheese? I don't like that one. But Gammelost (your spelling may differ) is quite nice.

My local cheesemonger had a very fine Spanish blue called Picos de Europa, which a friend with a Spanish wife identifies as Cabrales.

I blame my s-i-l for introducing me to that. It is just *too* tasty.
And just the right consistency to anchor a piece of salami on s Jacob's
Sour Cream & Chives Savour. (Made the mistake of buying Black Pepper

which I don't like.) Currently enjoying something a bit different
though = the last of the Sinful Flavours cheeses (Ole Smokey, this one)
I bought at the Llandudno Christmas Fayre (their spelling, not mine)

The LCF 1918 introduced me to Georgie Porgie puddings. I should regret

Over the past few days, Jakob's been sounded completely incapable of
standing up to her over anything. More like a rabbit in the headlights
than anything else.
Well, he did say go home. He said he liked his own space. She was
outrageously ignoring the message. I think this was one of those
frequent moments in TA when we can't believe how outrageous a person
can be and nobody calls them on it. Susan did get called a little
while back. Forget by who. Lynda never seems to. Shula should have
been. Pip got fast action when she ignored Rex saying he didn't want
to discuss it.
The trouble was, neither could Jakob believe how outrageous Kate could
be and he clearly had no idea how to deal with it.
Post by Vicky Ayech
Please, please, pretty please can Jakob have had a snip?
That would be wonderful! If that proved true, I wonder who the actual
father could be ;)
Menopause probably. Not unknown at that age. Or phantom pregnancy, not
unknown in the broody. Or something nasty in the woodshed she picked up
ages ago. We've never had an STI story in TA have we?
I don't think we've had an STI reference in a restaurant review
before, either. But we got one from Jay Rayner on Sunday in The
Observer.
"On the side is a shot of Izarra liqueur, the kind of caustic spirit
you drink too much of on a cheap summer holiday, before an ill-advised
assignation leading only to regret and a prescription for a
broad-spectrum antibiotic."
https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/feb/09/jay-rayner-restaurant-review-london-seabird-seafood-southwark-hoxton-hotel
is a delight to read. (Spoiler alert: he won't be going back)
I loved that review and his way with words, especially "service is a part
of the deal and if it’s administered with all the grace of an unlubricated
colonoscopy, it has to be mentioned".

Still laughing.

Yes, I had hopes of him then. I didn't like him when he arrived but if
he takes Kate's stuff over to Peggy's and changes the locks I will.

Yes, that was great but, despite that, he allowed himself to be
railroaded into making a stir fry for her - it wasn't made clear whether
his steak remained separate from the stir fry or whether she was offered
a steak stir fry. Given that we didn't hear any outraged shrieks from
Kate, I assume they remained separate though.

Last night Alistair was talking about Jakob. Alistair said that Jakob
was unflabble, that he couldn't imagine anything that would really
unsettle him.

I think we can all imagine something that will unsettle and flap him any

The question is, will it be Kate that tells Jakob about the baby, or
will Chris congratulate him on the forthcoming happy event?

Or was the comment about Jakob can cope with anything, except cake, a

I loved the suggestion that Kate may be pre-menopausal and there is no
baby. She will take the most dramatic line possible on her “pregnancy” then
try an intense moral blackmail when she “loses our baby”.

It will be interesting to see how Jakob reacts.

The RT blurb for next week is depressing.

Emma and Gavin continue to grow close :(

Kate returns from her course and naturally brings drama back home with
her. As she and Jakob make plans, Kate makes an admission that could
change everything.

The bit about Will Lynda come out on top in the resulting clash with
Lilian
is depressing too. I want Lilian to shut up and go away and leave The
Bull as the name.

I went to the local astronomy club last night. Arriving shortly before
the end of TA, I waited in the car to hear the end of the programme. As
I got out of my car I heard 'Barwick Green' from at least two more cars

Brilliant bit of storyline. Typical Krait, and just replete with ominous

#1 daughter had a baby while being vegan.Actually two. One 13 years

fewer commercial vegan foods available and fewer restaurants catered
