I was working on my computer when all of a sudden my SE started sounding
a loud beep-beep-beep. I think it was an Amber alert. How can that
function be shut off? I just about jumped right out of my chair.

Please help.

Many thanks,

Nancy

According to Apple, it can be turned off in Settings>Notifications right
at the bottom, but I don't see it on my device.

Found it.
Go to settings, go to notifications.
Then flick right until you see government alerts.
The first one past that is amber alerts.

Hi,
I believe you can turn off the amber alerts at the bottom of the
notifications settings area under settings but you can't disable government
or presidential alerts if you're in the US which I'm assuming you are.
So for instance if there was a major weather warning or some other
governmental issued safety alert you'd get it regardless.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
I believe you can turn off the amber alerts at the bottom of the
notifications settings area under settings but you can't disable government
or presidential alerts if you're in the US which I'm assuming you are.
So for instance if there was a major weather warning or some other
governmental issued safety alert you'd get it regardless.

I hope this helps.

According to Apple, it can be turned off in Settings>Notifications right
at the bottom, but I don't see it on my device.
Post by Shaf Patel
It cannot.

I was working on my computer when all of a sudden my SE started sounding
a loud beep-beep-beep. I think it was an Amber alert. How can that
function be shut off? I just about jumped right out of my chair.
Please help.
Many thanks,
Nancy

Hi, Yes, thanks so much for answering, however, I've only seen the answer, after sending off my message. Apologies for that.

I assume you read the simple answer that was posted. It is an alert
concerning missing children here in the US.

I was wondering, too, but I suppose we'll just have to google it.

One also wonders why someone takes the time to send such a pointless
message to the list instead of using the delete key.
Post by Marie
Tacky answer. How hard is it to give a simple answer?
