This guy is not quite a 50s artist, but it's so funny that I had to post it. He was a doo wop singer but not until 1961. We had a sample copy of the CD this is from at Relic.

Actually think this one is fairly good, certainly compared to most of
the performers making fools of themselves that you posted.

won't let him.

It's hard to imagine there ever being a good version of such an awful
"song" (I use the word loosely)

What the fuck was Satch thinking?

That's what he gets for caring about lyrics I guess.

Yes, but what do they have to do with the original "There's A Kind of Hush?"

I did not even hear the Hermits version at the time. But the original version was on a huge hit album.

According to Wikipedia, the HH version was a rush-cover of the 1st 45 record of the song, which was by a kid group called Gary and the Hornets. That version had been a local hit in Cincinnati and was poised to break nationally. Apparently you don't follow the Gary and the Hornets oeuvre.

It may have been the first 45 version,. but it's not the original version.

Guess not, especially since was in Ethiopia for much of 1966 and had to
do a lot of catching up when I got back. :)

It's not a song, of course. It's just some kind of improvised chant.
But in its time, if you were opposed to the war, it seemed quite
effective.
