It was an AMERICAN jury that awarded the Palm 'dOr,
thank God there are some thinking people left in the world and they
appreciate cinema.

And as the release and timing will be PERFECT for the American Democratic
Party, its just even more satisfying,

It even made the Commander in Thief fall off of his tricycle when he heard.

No it doesn't, if you passed english in high school and diagramed the
sentence we did way back when, remove the words "Chirac" and "and" you still
have a sentence. If you correctly wrote your post it would have said "Chirac
and Chirac's buddy". Your post does not clearly imply that you meant
Chirac's buddy. Like I said, a child or someone who has very bad writing
skills or just doesn't understand the basics of writing a simple sentence
correctly. Which is it?

Snorky is an arch-conservative, but he's even got good conservatives

In the interest of truth in advertising, he should be compelled to

Who said it was a mortal sin? I hate it when you psychos think Michael Moore
can criticize the President and accuse him of a mass conspiracy to milk the
world of oil with the saudis, but when we disagree with Michael Moore we are
saying he is a mortal sinner?

What I do not get about Michael Moore is his irony. He says Bush is dumb ,
but his entire documentry basically states Bush set up this mass conspiracy
with his saudi friends in order to milk Iraqs oil fields and stroke the
petroleum companies. Which is it? He is dumb? or smart enough to conspire to

Here are the facts; Bush stumbles on a few words so lets call him stupid and
use this to further our socialist mission.

You need to go back and read the post that I responded to. It said that
both the French and Michael Moore will "rot in hell".

In order to "rot in hell" according to Christian Mythology, one must be
guilty of mortal sin.

According to Michael Moores statements this was a Bush conspiracy from day
one. Infact Moore said we have all been duped by Bush at the Caanes film
festival. Infact Moore accused Bush of "stealing the '00 election,
overlooking terrorism warnings before September 11 and fanning fears of more
attacks to secure Americans' support for the Iraq war."

Here is how Michael Moore takes advantage of a United States soldiers mom in
the film.... Absoloutely sick... shows the opportunist this guy really is.
"Moore talks with resident Lila Lipscomb during her daily routine, hanging
an American flag in front of her house. He returns later as Lipscomb
heart-wrenchingly reads the final letter from her son, Michael Pedersen,
killed in action in Iraq.

As her patriotism turns to bitterness against the federal government,
Lipscomb journeys to Washington, D.C. Near the end of Fahrenheit 9/11,
Lipscomb stares at the White House and says, "I finally have a place to put
all my pain and anger." "

Bush. While there may in fact be Socialists who oppose George W. Bush, in
reality the vast majority of people who oppose George W. Bush are not
Socialists, so either your lying, uninformed, or just stupid. I'm banking
on some combination of all three.

Stupid people dont go to Yale.
LOL. You'd better do your research on this one before a flood of folks

his way into Yale, had grades that would not have otherwise qualfied him for
entry, and finished near the bottom of his class.

when directly confronted to defend your idiotic claims, you go running like

What I do not get about Michael Moore is his irony. He says Bush is dumb ,

How would I know you're a Horns fan?

So since you're a true Horns fan, why have the Longhorns been so highly
rated, but yet, achieved so little over the last few years? I'm always
(never) surprised when Campbell's Football magazine comes out and I have to
shake the drool off of the pages that are fawning over the Longhorns
recruiting class, and, then, sure enough, when they have to play a team with
any talent whatsoever, they lose, and the "aww shucks" coach pulls out his
hanky and cries and takes all the blame. At least they used to have Daddy's
Boy, Chris Simms to blame. If that wasn't the most overrated quarterback in
the history college football, I don't know who was.

How do you think they'll do this year? I'll go out on a limb and say they'll
lose 4 games, but beat the hapless goat herders from up the road.

By the way, Bush's degrees weren't gifts. He had to go to classes, he had to
take tests, he got grades, he finished a degree program, he got a degree, he
was accepted into MBA school at Harvard (and bailed out of the national
guard), he went to classes, he took tests, wrote papers, got grades, and
finished with an MBA. I don't care who you are, you still have to do work to
get out of Yale and Harvard. And, if there was some huge gifting program for
Bush, it would be all over the news. It's not.

I'm not a Bush apologist, because he's managed to dig a big hole, that
continues to get deeper, but, you know, he's not that stupid and he has, and
has had, plenty of help being stupid by plenty of people that most people
consider to be pretty intelligent.

Another part of Bush's schtick is to talk like he's from the oil patch. He
uses it to great effectiveness, but, it sure makes him sound like an
illiterate moron, I'll agree. If you don't think he's affecting his manner
of speech for the WALMART MOMS and the NASCAR DADS, listen to his dad or his
brother and ask yourself why they both have accents that sound as if they
just stepped off the Yacht at Kennebunkport.

Anyway, good luck with that Horns thing.

You couldn't, and I wasn't trying to be insulting... I was just telling

Yeah, I'm SOOOO ashamed-- over the last couple-three years, the Horns
have competed for national championships in football, basketball AND
baseball... last I checked, they're number one in the nation in baseball
these days...

That's the problem with you Sooners, you think there's only one sport...

But to answer your question, IMO the reason the football Horns have
underachieved has been lousy coaching on the part of the position
coaches...
Post by Toby Drake
How do you think they'll do this year? I'll go out on a limb and say they'll
lose 4 games, but beat the hapless goat herders from up the road.
They'll compete for the conference championship again... a bowl bid is
quite likely, again...

This year should be the year that Cedric Benson makes a run for the
Heisman, because I look for the Horns to emphasize the run even more
than they did last year...
Post by Toby Drake

Of course they were, the man's a card-carrying idiot... he's fucked up
every business he's ever touched, this is hardly typical for an MBA from
an Ivy League school...

Then again, I have recently made the acquaintance of a troll who claims
he has a Yale background, name of Snorky... he's dumber than a box of

Is he saying the advertising he saw on TV promised him marching bands?

Did he pay for a ticket? Because the commercials on tv have nothing to
do with what was advertised to be shown at the stadium.

Conversely, if he didn't pay for pay per view or anything like that,
how can he have a case for false advertising. Doesn't false advertising
presume there was a purchase made?

I downloaded the whole thing but the story doesn't make it totally clear
but the guy sounds like a nut. I remember hearing of other similar

he has a Yale background, name of Snorky... he's dumber than a box of
rocks too, so perhaps I overestimate the intelligence required to get
yourself an education at those institutions...
I was a Yale DIVINITY major.
Mr. "That Wasn't Torture, That Was Teasing" was looking to serve God??
ROTFLMAO...
Post by SNORKY
Mind you, I took a senior seminar in Voo
Doo, and if you cross the line with me one more time I'll put an
all-time mojo on you.
Damn, that was ALMOST funny, Snork... be very careful, if you keep
showing signs of a sense of humor, eventually they're not gonna let you
be a good little right winger any more...
Sorry, dildo, NOBODY believes your claims of an Ivy League education...
you simply write too poorly to have had that experience... it's my
understanding that an ability to write is just about crucial for
somebody contemplating a career in the ministry... they have to write
these speeches every week, you know...
You and God should have a long talk about your contemptible views on the
use of torture... you need to worry about getting right with him before
you even waste a second worrying about trying to get over on your
friendly local Bear...
You would have civilians killed rather than tickle s prisoner, and yet
you call me "contemptamable".

Something I've been doing for six years now, to more trolls than you
could possibly imagine... most of 'em are long gone, some of those who
are still hangin' around make it a point to stay out of my line of
fire...

I am, in all immodesty, the Zen Master of troll baiting... I make 'em
nuts... my favorites are the ones who fancy themselves towering
intellects, because of course anybody who thinks trolling newsgroups is
amusing is by definition not the sharpest knife in the drawer...

The simple truth is, there isn't but one way to beat a true troll...
ignoring them doesn't work, they just keep on trolling away until they
provoke a reaction from somebody, anybody... nope, the only way to beat
a troll is to get in his face and stay in his face until he starts
seeing you in his sleep... I mean, just be as tiring and annoying and
tenacious as a pit bull with a fresh bone... eventually, you'll wear
even the most dedicated troll down... I had one that it took me the best
part of five years to wear out, and I had lots and lots of help in the
effort, but he's gone now, too...

Basically, trolls troll because it's fun for them... why it's fun for
them, I couldn't possibly tell you, it seems like an uncommonly stupid
way to amuse yourself, but that's why they do it... take the fun away,
and they seem to lose interest...

Aside from all that, there's a certain element of FUN in swapping
insults, particularly if you're pretty good at it... having grown up the
son of a golf pro, I'm fairly well versed in the art of pro shop
banter... there are folks in here who seem to get a kick out of it,
too... here being the Cowboys' newsgroup, since I don't have a clue
which of the myriad crossposted newsgroups you're reading this thread
in...

To sum up in as few words as possible, leave me be, son, I'm havin'
fun... if you don't like it, don't read it...

Yep. If there WAS any "hidden story" surrouning the Gore clan, I
assure you I'd know all about. That family can't go to the grocery
store without the precise route they took being common knowlege in
these parts...Carthage is still small town U.S.A. to say the least,

Hey, JFF ~

What are your thoughts on Bud Adams indicating Eddie won't be back w/ the
Titans this year? Negotiating ploy? Mexican Stand off? I know the Titans are
$17 mill or so over the cap, and Adams is saying that they can't sign their
own draft picks . . .

Do you think Eddie has any gas left?

My thoughts:

George has enough for one more season, though not as a starter - certainly
for playoffs (if the team makes them - not a given, seeing as how they've
lost Volek and McCants (sp?). I don't think losing Jervon was as big a
setback - in fact, I think the Beagles will find they overpaid the man.

As to whether the team owes Eddie one more season - I guess they might; he's
been a gladiator for them over his time with the team . . .

I don't live too far from you, BTW, in Lovely Jack'n Co . . .

Hey, JFF ~
What are your thoughts on Bud Adams
Bud is an idiot who got lucky because this town was starving for a pro
team and they got real good, real fast after moving here. Jeff Fisher
is a great guy and very engaging...he's also "forced" his players to
be fan "friendly". I give Jeff the credit for the fan support, not
toupee' man. ;-)
Post by S&C Gilbert
indicating Eddie won't be back w/ the
Titans this year? Negotiating ploy?
Nope. I doubt Fisher WANTS him back. Jeff is a VERY conservative
coach, much like Parcells. He was "forced" to let McNair air it out a
LOT more often than he'd like last year. While that worked out o.k.,
it's just not Fishers style. They REALLY got lucky all those young
receivers developed so quickly.
Post by S&C Gilbert
Mexican Stand off?
I think they'd bring Eddie back ONLY if Eddie wants to come
back...I.E. money isn't an issue, and he works cheap. Much like the
Emmitt situation of a year ago, I doubt that happens. Eddiie WILL end
up working cheap, but not in Nashville, and probably not as a starter.
Post by S&C Gilbert
I know the Titans are
$17 mill or so over the cap, and Adams is saying that they can't sign their
own draft picks . . .
I'd be shocked if they brought him back, regardless of the cap
situation. IMO he only made the team last year because he was a fan
favorite in these parts....the fans soured on him last season. If he
can't run AND he can't sell tickets, what good is he?
Post by S&C Gilbert
Do you think Eddie has any gas left?
Nope. He was done two years ago. He looked much more like Hambrick
than Eddie George last year...and with a much better OL than Troy had.
Post by S&C Gilbert
George has enough for one more season, though not as a starter - certainly
for playoffs (if the team makes them - not a given, seeing as how they've
lost Volek and McCants (sp?). I don't think losing Jervon was as big a
setback - in fact, I think the Beagles will find they overpaid the man.
Yeah. Kearse was pretty much told by the team last year that if he
didn't revert to his dominating self, and remain healthy, they weren't
gonna try to re-sign him. That guy is an enigma, IMO. When he's on,
he's Scary good...I've seen him swat TRIPLE teams like they were
nothing but fruit flies...the last few years, though, he's looked more
like Larry Allen. Great at times, not-so-great more often. Not that
he's gotten his big payday...who knows. I personally don't think the
guy has the desire and dedication to be the best, else he would
be...easily.
Post by S&C Gilbert
As to whether the team owes Eddie one more season - I guess they might
Nope. He got whatever he was "owed" last year. This town stuck by him
far longer than most would.
Post by S&C Gilbert
; he's
been a gladiator for them over his time with the team . . .
Yep...which is why he's been such a fan favorite. Lately, even
"Eddies", the overpriced bar and grill he owns near the coliseum has
gone from standing room only, to a ghost town. He's simply lost the
fans support.

With a Yale undergraduate degree and a Harvard MBA, he probably knows better

Obviously, those two degrees were a gift... nobody as stupid as Dubya
has repeatedly proven himself to be could possibly EARN an Ivy League
degree... you are aware of the number of businesses this "Ivy Leaguer"

He's at the forefront of "The liberal network"...at least he was until
it got put on the back burner after "Air America" crashed and burned
and his investors got nervous.

As an aside, Ole Al sold his portion of the family farm in Carthage
and bought an estate in an elite Nashville suburb...So much for his
small town, everyman image. ;-) I just wish he had done it while still
V.P...all the Secret Service, helicopters, and closed down interstates
and Highways were quite annoying in rural middle Tennessee...Oh well,
at least the hypocrite doesn't own a tobacco farm anymore...

It has. They've been kicked off the Air in Chicago and Los Angeles,
two of the largest markets in the country and two of the four makets
after just two weeks, because their lease checks bounced. (They've
since been put back on in Chicago but are desperately seeking a new
station in that market) Two of their top executives (and investors)
have left the sinking ship to avoid drowning, less than two months
after launch.

their financial status is (and if you do, please cite sources),
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2004/05/07/air_america_breaking_up.html
"The company also failed to make its scheduled payroll Wednesday,
leaving its staff of roughly 100 writers and producers unpaid until
Thursday."

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Air America Radio, the upstart liberal talk show
network that has been plagued by management troubles, is seeking to
raise new money in efforts to pay off debts and steer the business
toward profitability.

Air America has racked up unpaid debts, which include payroll to sales
forces it hired in Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, but was
forced to let go after backing out on plans to lease radio stations in
those markets.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20040414-050438-4801r.htm

CHICAGO, April 14 (UPI) -- Air America, the new liberal talk-radio
network that premiered in six cities two weeks ago, was off the air in
Chicago and Los Angeles Wednesday.

Air America programming featuring comedian Al Franken and Janeane
Garofalo was pulled by Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc., which
owns WNTD-950 AM in Chicago and KBLA-1580 AM in Los Angeles, after a
check bounced, the Chicago Tribune said.

they're on
the air as this is being written.
In some markets they are. I wouldn't reccomend investing in them,
though ;-)

HA! If I have any money left after morgage and bills, maybe I can invest in
an ice cream cone!

BTW, when I take the time to listen to AirAmerica, it's on-line while I
work, so I don't follow the soap opera of ther financing, though I had heard
about the Chicago & LA situations and had seen on Drudge that paychecks had
bounced. Considering the source, I wasn't sure how much of it was wishful

you'd be independantly wealthy, now. ;-)

There's plenty more...I just tried to give you the most credible
sources I could find quickly. I actually had heard it on CNN and MSNBC
so I was pretty sure it was accurate. I don't expect CNN would report
of financial problems surrounding a high profile liberal enterprise
without LOTS of evidence. ;-)

From everything I've read, they started with a healthy $60mil kitty
and quickly needed to raise another $8mil just to stay viable...sounds
a lot like John Deans campaign to me ;-)

As for Drudge, I agree with you. He's the online equivelant of the
national enquirer...he stumbles upon a true story just often enough to
retain *some* credibility, but anything he writes has to be taken with
a grain of salt until independantly verified.

So? They are both worthless, mindless. blatherers who care only about

There is???

If you stop payment on a check you give me, does it not bounce when I
try to cash it? If I stop service based on that, does it not amount to
me stopping service based on a bounced check?

BTW, I haven't heard the claim you are trying to make above. Why the
fuck would they stop payment on a check that would ensure they got
heard in two of the largest markets in the country? Money problems,
maybe?

As I understand (though I cannot, alas, cite the source - I believe it was
AP, some weeks ago), the owner of the stations in LA & Chicago was double
dipping - charging AA for ad time and then turning around and charging
buyers for the same air time.

Certainly, the network has had its share of start up woes; then again, if
the Washington Times hadn't been funded by Rev. Moon, they would not have
lasted their first years - their 1st editor in chief, Armand De Bourchand
(?) (dang senile moment - I'm not sure that's his right last name) stated
that in a number of interviews once they were ensconced firmly as the
'conservative' record of note.

AA was leasing air time, the stations had nothing to do with ad
revenue. The way I understand it, AA couldn't make back enough in ad
revenue so they pulled out after writing the check.

success of AA just yet...

That's usually a felony, in case anyone's interested. Of course, it
depends on what the definition of "interested" is.

Let's put it this way: The bank doesn't charge you $25 NSF fees for
one, and it does for the other; and you're not going to be able to
collect any kind of merchant fee for it either. There's a big
difference where intention is concerned.

Maybe a dispute that would lead them to seek out other outlets in the
same market? If you haven't heard this "claim" you haven't been paying
attention to the issue at all.

What I do not get about Michael Moore is his irony. He says Bush is dumb ,
but his entire documentry basically states Bush set up this mass conspiracy

he bears direct and personal responsibility for what it has done to the
deficit...
I think the clear point here is congress has to approve that spending.
Bush doesn't have a blank check.
While what you say is true, you and I know that Congress has been a
rubber stamp for spending on the war in Iraq... it would amount to
political suicide to vote against funding for the troops over there...
Then you are saying Kerry has committed political suicide?
Has he voted against funding for the troops since the invasion began??

Um, yeah.

May I remind the Senator that last November, at the President's
request, Congress passed an $87 billion supplemental appropriation.
This legislation was essential to our ongoing operations in Iraq and
Afghanistan - providing funding for body armor and other vital
equipment; hazard pay; health benefits; ammunition; fuel, and spare
parts for our military. The legislation passed overwhelmingly, with a
vote in the Senate of 87 to 12. Senator Kerry voted no. I note that
yesterday, attempting to clarify the matter, Senator Kerry said, quote,
"I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it."
(Laughter.) It's a true fact. (Laughter.)
From:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/03/20040317-3.html

I'm sure you don't like that source... how about this one:

In addition, he rebutted a new Bush ad criticizing him for voting last
fall against $87 billion in additional funding for US troops in Iraq --
a supplemental appropriation that included money for body armor -- by
saying he would have supported it if it had been financed by repealing
a portion of the tax cuts implemented during the Bush administration.
Kerry made that proposal in an amendment he cosponsored; the Senate
rejected the amendment before approving the $87 billion.
"I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it," he
said.
It's the height of petulance to vote against a bill you claim to
support just because your version of the language was voted down...

So did Kerry commit political suicide?

I know I don't want this kind of childish, churlish buffoonery in the
Oval Office. Kerry would take his toys home to Boston the first time he
had a veto overridden or didn't get some spending bill he wanted...

Problem was, we could never know that until AFTER the fact... the simple
truth is, at the time this was a very popular war with the electorate,
and an equally popular President... the voters WANTED their legislators
to back that effort enthusiastically...

That was the point of my original claim...

What I do not get about Michael Moore is his irony. He says Bush is dumb ,
but his entire documentry basically states Bush set up this mass conspiracy
with his saudi friends in order to milk Iraqs oil fields and stroke the
petroleum companies. Which is it? He is dumb? or smart enough to conspire to
take the worlds most valuable resource? LOL..
Or the willing dupe of smart men with their own, selfish agenda... as I
like to say "George Dubya Bush, a wholly owned subsidiary of Texaco"...
If we are accusing a man of investing in oil then shame shame. How dare
anyone invest in the number one resource this world has. In the mean time
the mass conspiracy of others. Let me get this straight... The oil companies
"stole the election" for Bush, then the Saudis used him to drill for oil in
Iraq? LOL...

The Democrats should change their slogan too. We will say anything because
were whores of the tax dollar.

Here are the facts; Bush stumbles on a few words so lets call him stupid and
use this to further our socialist mission.
Dubya's so fucking stupid he couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the
instructions were printed on the heel...
But he can win an election and raise 120 million dollars in two months. Oh
well I guess some things you just arent good at.

Tell you what, go read a biography of Bush, preferably one not written
by one of his right wing flunkies... pay particular attention to his
history as a businessman... you'll recognize a lot of the names of the
folks who got him where he is today...

I'm criticizing Dubya for being a tool of the oil bidness... it's the
same criticism I levelled at him the last election as well... he is in
the pocket of a number of the movers and shakers of the oil world...

No, he can't... by himself, he couldn't get himself nominated to be the
county dogcatcher... like I said, he's a front for the people who are
really running the country these days...

and raise 120 million dollars in two months.
Which just means that the people who own him are really rich, and
somewhat desperate to keep him in office, so that they can continue
getting richer off the Iraq war...

All of them will rot in hell.
Really? Why is that?
What mortal sin have either the French or Michael Moore committed?
Or is it now considered a mortal sin to publicly disagree with St. George W.
Bush?
