She's not gonna make it after all...
Funny (but cruel) joke there, for sure.

But Harper--who I happened to run into in retail stores twice in different parts of L.A.'s Westside during the late '80s, so I'm betting she lived west of the 405 in those days--has a place that is secure in American television history, and at 71 she isn't being much foreshortened, Natalie Wood-style.

(She was gracious both times I chatted with her, if you're wondering.) Point is, this isn't one of these cases I'm gonna join in the boo-hoo-hooing about, even though my oft-herein-stated policy is that I don't want ANYone to die, even those who justly deserve it.

And an early-old-age cancer victim--which at 58, I may turn out to also be any day these days, if a sudden sinkhole doesn't get me and my MacBook first, even before I can finish these sentences!--certainly doesn't deserve it.

But as we've ALL herein figured out by now, life is, alas, in no small part death.

That was MARY who the song was about, not Rhoda.
Poor Valerie, having to suffer with brain cancer.
Valerie also starred in "The Hogan Family" (until replaced by Sandy
Duncan).

"Technically, you are correct" is Roy's way of admitting he was wrong.
When other people use it, it means, "Roy is wrong yet again."

Technically, you are incorrect in ascribing that line to me in the above

I never said it.
Read the thread again, David to figure out who said what.

My one post was this, and I quote for your convenience:

"That was MARY who the song was about, not Rhoda.
Poor Valerie, having to suffer with brain cancer.
Valerie also starred in "The Hogan Family" (until replaced by Sandy
Duncan)."

[The link proving it is here:

Therefore, YOU are the one wrong in bringing that non sequitur line up
here in the first place, for God knows what reason was running through your
skull.
Go back to sleep, or whatever you were doing with yourself before you
posted that wrong line saying I wrote it.
I didn't.

Not in this thread, but you've said it to ease your way into admitting
you were WRONG.

Hint: It wasn't called The Hogan Family when Harper was on the show.
Get it now?

Valerie also starred in "The Hogan Family" (until replaced by
Sandy Duncan).
Valerie Harper was in a series called "Valerie," wish premiered in
March 1986. Harper quit or was fired (accounts vary) in the fall of
1987, so they killed off Harper's character, replaced her with Sandy
Duncan, and renamed the series "Valerie's Family." In June 1988, the
series was again renamed "The Hogan Family." That was almost a year
after Harper's departure.

In other words, Valerie Harper was never in anything called "The Hogan
Family." I realize in advance that pointing all of this out will do no
good, but it's for the record.

In July of 2012 you started another one of your idiotic threads with
the subject line "(OT) Worst "Family Guy" scene ever? [warning: not
for kids to see--until they are 25 and can legally be a Congressman]".
The scene in question was not from "Family Guy". You were wrong to
say that it was. When J.D. Baldwin pointed this out to you, your
response on July 23 was "Technically, you are correct." Since this
involved you, additional dances around versions of "But I wasn't
really wrong" followed and, as a result, "Technically, you are
correct" has been--much like you--a running joke ever since.

When other people use it, it means, "Roy is wrong yet again."
So, every time you see "Technically, you are correct" on
alt.obituaries, it's a reference to you being an idiot.

Have a nice day.

Maybe Sandy Duncam will soon be taking her place. Eye!

If Sandy Duncam [sic] truly had one eye, that might have
been funny the first time.

Well, she only has one working eye (the other is in situ, but on unemployment).

But here's the $64 question, though: Did anybody have the foresight
to pick Valerie in this year's AODP? If not, then I'm sure that we're
all hoping that she'll make it... to January 1.

Very sad, though by my understanding of the term, deathwatch may be
premature. As I have seen the word used here before, it was usually an
indication that the person being referred to had only hours left.

I suppose the "Death in threes" people will note Bonnie Franklin and
Harper, and start circling the wagons around Linda Lavin.
Even if the "three's" come THREE months later?
Nobody mentions Mary Tyler Moore, who I thought was in worse health (and
almost 3 years older) than Valerie, until her stunning admission.
