Harrison Burns moonlighting

Perhaps this was already covered, I searched, but google-groups search isn't super-reliable, ironically.

I watched the Downton Abbey film today [1] and was alerted first by the voice, then verified on IMDB, that Harrison's alter ego has been out and about. Fixing boilers, no less.

[1] Not entirely recommended: slightly juvenile plot line, some quite uncharacteristic dialogue, and too neatly tied up all loose ends. However, Maggie Smith was her usual magnificent self (except that her accent broke for a single word) and she's worth the price of admission alone. I also quite liked the 20s hair styles on the younger characters.

Perhaps it might be appropriate to mention here that Lidl have ‘uprated’
their 81% Cacao chocolate to 85%.

I did "procure" a substantial bar of Scharffen-Berger chocolate from somebody in This Place, probably in about 2001. Perhaps some kind of charity auction or something. I remember vividly eating it in the house I lived in seven houses [1] ago

Not as much as poor Chankel (of blessed memory) late of this parish, who
lost everything he owned in one go, in the GRVR.

Hello again, Ben. Good to see anotherat retuning to the fold. That plus a

Wow to both!

Since leaving university, I've only moved once, or twice if you count
lodgings to first home (I stayed in lodgings after I started employment
longer than most do)! And that move - around 2007 - was purely because I
had to, to keep my job. (Though very much for the best, in terms of the
quality of the home.) I hate moving - or changing car!

Vauxhall Ventora (3.3!), Austin 1300, Fiat 131S, a series of Lada Rivas,
two Škoda Felicia (one petrol, one Diesel), now a Škoda Octavia.
Actually very nice, but anonymous: silver grey. And I think of it as
very new, but it's actually 56, so registered 13 years ago!

At least my mileage is now so low that it should last me a long time
(though there is always rust), unless the Diesel-haters make things
difficult.

I moved 5 times in 5 years in the '70s. Don't think I lost much but there
was slightly more to lose each time. In fact, after the 5th move I could
remember what stuff was in which box and could find things quickly (things
mostly stayed in the boxes). The husgod reckoned if he asked me for a
Perkins diesel engine I could find one in one of my 'fernal boxes ;)

Then there were children...

Only one.
I lost track of much of my stuff though and never seemed to manage the same
degree of organisation again.

I remember him, and I remember the GRVR. In fact, I've thought of it surprisingly often while being away from this place. It always provokes a memory of the Peter Cook thing about the Great Train Robbery.

"I would like to like to make one thing clear at the very outset and that is, when you speak of a train robbery, this involved no loss of train, merely what I like to call the contents of the train, which were pilfered. We haven't lost a train since 1946, I believe it was — the year of the great snows when we mislaid a small one."
