Another set announced and delayed. We can wait and see if it really happens!

Don't forget the 21 disc "Heifetz-Piatigorsky Concerts Complete Album Collection" box.
It is completely devoured by the new box.
If the new 36 box is in original jacket format, that means there will be 15 discs without Heifetz.

There were some recordings that were 78 only and presumably they could be squeezed into a few discs. Even so, seems low for an original jackets concept. I guess wait and see.

The weird thing: nowhere in this listing will you find "Heifetz"!

Seems to be missing a cd included in the Rubinstein Album Collection (cd 45) containing the Schumann cello concerto with Barbirolli and Brahms first cello sonata with Rubinstein.

Those are not "missing." All are EMI recordings now owned by Warner.

They were only issued originally under license as Victor 78s. Then-EMI licensed their recordings to RCA when the original Rubinstein box was issued. But they were never truly RCA recordings.

Also missing then, by your definition, are the EMI Beethoven Sonatas with Solomon, issued originally on RCA in the U.S. The only place I know you will find those is on Testament, although most people think that collaboration was a failure.

Well the cd was in the latest Rubinstein box with a RCA cover, so if it is part of Rubinstein's RCA recordings is it not reasonable to expect it to be part of Piatigosky’s RCA recordings?

I have no idea if Piatigosky’s recordings with Solomon were issued on RCA.

The fact that they were released with an RCA cover doesn't automatically mean they were RCA recordings. As drh8h said, they were recorded by EMI and leased to RCA at the time the Rubinstein box was prepared. They are now owned by Warmer Classics.

RCA Victor LM-6120. Probably only in the catalogue a short time as the licensing agreement between EMI and RCA ended around 1957. It was about this time RCA started licensing from Decca. To complain that Piatigorsky's non-RCA recordings licensed to RCA at one time are missing makes as much sense as saying the RCA box of Monteux was incomplete because the Sibelius Symphony 2, now owned by Universal, was left out. The licensing for the EMI recordings in the Rubinstein box must have been a special deal, since most of them were mastered in the U.S. by Marston.

Not really a complaint, as I have the cd, it was actually just a bit of information for other buyers who might expect it to be included (which I understand some here think they shouldn’t but not knowing the contents of license agreements in the past and present between RCA, Sony, EMI and Warner or what company made the recording they still might. Unless I am the only person to make that mistake...).

One of the more interesting facts to be found in the recent Warner compilation of early Debussy recordings is that while Warner owns some Odeons of the 1920s, others are owned by Sony. Anyone know how that came about?
