Aside from Rich's comment, David Starkey made the comment on Darren
Grimes' Reasoned on YouTube. Grimes had the nerve to say,
I reject in the strongest possible terms what Dr Starkey said in
that clip and so very wish I'd caught it at the time. I am still
learning the ropes, I will be much more alert to challenging
this kind of thing in future.
You were having a one-on-one conversation with Starkey. You didn't
catch what he said to you? You weren't alert to it? You're a loser.
Starkey said a whole bunch of seemingly obnoxious stuff, but the
BBC article provided zero context. The genocide comment appears to be
obnoxious, but if Grimes improperly used the word "genocide", he should
have been corrected. Both "slavery" and "genocide" have well-known
meanings. The words are not synonymous. His obnoxious comment sounded
like bitter sarcasm, which isn't what "racism" means either, but one
must never answer sarcastically.
I've used sarcasm, and I've objected repeatedly to the George Floyd
protestors claiming that they're potential victims because they could
have been in Floyd's situation, which ain't true if one is sober and not
committing a crime.
I suppose everyone on Usenet would cut ties with me.
