Excel importing problems

I just installed "pspp-20170909-daily-64bits-setup". It installed and then
I run it. I tried to import an excel file. After selecting the excel file
the prompt goes gray with no additional information on screen. At that time
the screen only shows "Select file to import" on the upper left, and the
cluster of "reset", "next", "back:, "finish", and "cancel" on the lower
right. I tried just clicking on next until "apply" option showed, clicked
it then clicked finish. The 1st line of my data contains the header titles
for the entries below them. But pspp reads them as entries rather than
title or variable name. The excel file I imported is in csv (ms-dos) and is
70.2 MB big.

Where did I go wrong? Did I miss something during the installation process
or do I need to fix something with my excel file?

Hi Xerox,

With no other info about your installation I can't see an error. Be sure
that your spreadsheet file has the variable names in the first row. When
importing you have to give the info via the menu that your data start in
the second row and have to tick the options that the variable names are
in the first row (last line on the entry page, below the date window).

Also look that the decimal sign goes with the language you use for PSPP.
An example: If you have a comma as decimal sign in the imported file and
use the PSPP English-language version you have to change it before
importation into a full stop.

Besides the menus you can you use the GET DATA command
<https://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/manual/html_node/GET-DATA.html> .

I don't see whether pspp imports files with the csv ending, but if you
change the name in *.txt there will be no difficulty when importing.
