to check out LIFE, and maybe MOONLIGHT. I've never watched SURVIVOR, but
just might give it a try this season, and intend to watch THE NEXT
GREAT AMERICAN BAND and definitely will be watching the new season of
DWTS.

Check schedules, as some of them start this week!

Which new ones are you interested in checking out, and what old ones are you most looking forward to watching again?>
SHARK (drama) 9-30 CBS
James Woods ROCKS!
DANCING WITH THE STARS (Reality) 9-24 ABC
TUESDAY
CAVEMEN (comedy) 10-2 ABC
I might tune in at first to see if it's any good. Then again, if it
interferes with my chorus rehearsal I won't see it cause I'll forget
to tape it. ;-p
WEDNESDAY
PUSHING DAISIES (drama) 10-3 ABC
DIRTY SEXY MONEY (drama) 9-26 ABC
I'm curious about these two
FRIDAY
THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND (Reality) 10-19 FOX
I usually check out music shows.

Most of the returning shows I've never watched. And I don't really
know much about the new shows and don't really care as of now. There's
a lot on tv that doesn't interest me. I often just use it for
background noise when I'm on the computer. Otherwise, I'm watching
some true crime thing or a movie.

I'm looking forward to AI, but more for the dissin' w/you guys part. I
mostly lurked last season and have been applying skin-toughening cream
all this year in anticipation ;-)

I don't care much for any of the other dancing/juggling talent shows
or the plethora of cop/forensic/whodunit dramas out there, but am
looking forward to Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, The Office,
Earl, and a few others.

I still love a good trainwreck reality show like Bad Girls Club or
MTV's Real World (which has gotten pretty stale the last few years).
Flipping Out on BRAVO with Jeff Lewis was s surprise fave this year;
I'd love to see him return

*That's* what is missing from the list: LOST!! Oh yeah, I'm watching

I'll take your word on that, and won't try to catch it next week, as
don't need to be adding a bunch of new shows on, or I'll never leave
the couch! :-( That is the show that John Walsh on American's Most
Wanted highly recommended and even showed clips of it on his last show.
LOST!! Oh yeah, I'm watching
that one.
That's right.....Entertainment Weekly didn't mention LOST in the new
fall line up....hmmmmm? I wonder if it's going to start later on...like
maybe a mid season replacement, or something? I tried to get into it the
1st season it was on, and I was the one that got "lost" :) but I have
friends that love it.

Let me know what you think of some of the new shows you're going to be
checking out. In your list, the only two I have watched are HEROES and
DWTS.

LOST is not a mid-season replacement. The gave the series three more years
and they are only having 16 episodes a season. Therefore, it will start in
FEBRUARY!!! Rumor has it that it might end up on Friday night.

No talk about that new show "Cane". Good...then perhaps the one guy who
never ages will return to LOST! (Sorry, I forgot his name!)

BTW...I am hinting to my husband to buy me the second season of Lost for my
birthday and season three for Christmas. I got roses today, three days
early. We aren't big on the actual date around here!

It looks like a very boring Fall Season to me. Can't tolerate the
inane comedies.
Any clever dialogue has been given up in the promos.
Thank goodness for Survivor China, promise of American Idol, 24,
Amazing Race, So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother, Weeds,
Californication and HBO/Showtime/Cinemax/IFC.

I heard that they lost too much of their audience by breaking the show
up into fall and spring episodes last season, so they decided to show
this season's episodes all in a row.

Maybe, but more likely the move from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. I hate the wait and
breaks in any show. I guess they have to wait until after the holidays to
avoid that. It will be worth it. I'm so happy that Terry O'Quinn won his
Emmy.

I watched Kid Nation and Kitchen Nightmares and was underwhelmed with
both of them. They both seem really phony and staged, especially
Kitchen Nightmares. I may give Kid Nation one more chance, but I doubt
it'll get any better. Thank goodness for Survivor: China!! It's gonna
be a good season. There are already two people I disliked almost
immediately. Judy, you should try Survivor. It's just as addictive as
Big Brother, maybe even moreso. Also, be sure to catch Amazing Race
when it comes back. It just won the Emmy (again) for Best Reality Show.

If you get BBC America, XAN, watch one of the British episodes of it.

What came on here, IMHO, was a gastly, over the top, version of the Brit
one...probably because the Brits figure that's what America wants.
Instead, we got a....well....I won't say the nickname...who was a poor
caracature of many Italian-Americans from the 60's.

I hope the next episode is closer to the Brit way because that is a very
decent, enjoyable program.

I don't get BBC, unfortunately, wish I did. You're so right, it was so
over-the-top. Nobody is as obnoxious as they made that guy, Peter, out
to be. I'm sorry, but that just did not ring true at all. If he really
was that bad, I'm sure his sister would've fired him long ago. And his
sudden change of heart was about as real as a three-dollar-bill. Also,
I didn't believe for one minute that all that spoiled food was there for
real. I think it was put there for drama. The whole show was phony,
IMO. I was so turned off, I don't think I'll watch again, Maybe I'll
give it one more shot, but it had better be great or that'll be it for me.

They are suppose to show the first episode of KID NATION again before

on the schedule? It does interest me, so will give it a try anyway.

When does AMAZING RACE start...do you know, Xan? I've never watched that
either, but DID watching SURVIVOR:CHINA last night (Hi Mike!) and
actually liked it quite well, so can see it has potential. I hadn't ever
watched it either, but a lot of my friends do, and kept telling me I
should check it out, but I don't want to get involved with too many
shows, so try to limit how much time I spend in front of the "boob

Good Afternoon Mike! :)
Yes, you sure were right on that show...actually I "took" to the
characters quicker than I did for BB8 the first time I watched that.
This is a interesting bunch, from all walks of life, so should be a
great season...looking forward to the next episode!

Do you also watch Amazing Race?

Our schedule doesn't have Kid Nation, but they may have decided to run
the pilot again, after the schedule was printed up, so will have to
check out the time on the TV Guide on here Saturday.

TTYL!

I'm not sure when AR will start. I generally just wait and check the
listings when I get the Sunday newspaper TV book. It may not start
again until later in the season, I really don't know for sure. Be sure
to watch it, though. It's simply *the* best reality show on TV, IMO.

When does AMAZING RACE start...
I'm not sure when AR will start.
According to MSNBC:

CBS has aired two seasons of the race almost every year since the race
debuted in 2001, and for the past five seasons, they've stuck to a
consistent pattern of debuting a new season ever fall and spring.

While that won't happen this year, the show has not been cancelled. In
fact, a 12th installment has reportedly already been filmed.

Instead, CBS is holding that race for mid-season, which means it could
appear in January or February. In recent years, the show's ratings have
slipped and wavered, averaging about 10 million viewers an episode for
the 11th season last spring. However, the Emmy-winning show has
consistently delivered high-quality television, excepting the boring
family season.

To refresh the series, there will be a few changes: The race will
feature younger contestants, and it will drop the non-elimination legs.
That means that, unless there's an extended, super-sized leg of the
race, someone will go home every week.

--------------

I was really happy to read that someone else hated the family season.
That was the only season since the beginning that I stopped watching
after two shows and didn't even tune in to see who won.

Zzzzzz. Why don't these reality shows realize that a good percentage
of their audience isn't there to look at young hardbodies, but that we
actually enjoy seeing a variety of types competing?

It really wasn't that good, I felt. I was
pretty well lost 10 minutes in.
In your list, the only two I have watched are HEROES and
DWTS.
Judy

Xan, which two? I think Ashley and the waitress from New York are
going to be complete whiners this season. The Christian Radio Host
won't last long. And I WISH that fourth grade teacher would put some
clothes back on. I don't want to see everything she has hanging all
over the place. I was a little surprised at who they chose to go home
last night. I thought it would be the bossy b*tch.

The waitress from NY was one of the ones I didn't care for. She was
just so flippant and superior acting, which is usually a sign of an
inferiority complex! The other was the Christian radio host, not
because of her religion, but because she was disrespectful of the
cultural welcome the contestants received in the temple. She said it
was because it "felt like" worship, but my gut feeling is that she was
threatened by being in the presence of the Buddhist culture. It
reminded me of a co-worker who was a staunch Catholic who got really
nervous when a group of us gals did a fun, non-religious naming ceremony
for our "Tepee Tribe." A few of us have Native American blood and
thought a ceremony giving each other Indian names would be a hoot (my
name was "Woman Who Walks With Wings). It was not in the least
religious, but it was in a sense a spiritual experience. One of my best
friends, who is about 1/8 Cherokee, thought of the ceremony, and I made
some little necklaces with arrowheads and printed some plaques with
Indian symbols of each gal's new name with little dream catchers made by
my daughter, and I also led a brief meditation. We did the ceremony
sitting around a fire pit and my friend's daughter made little
headpieces for each of us. It was very atmospheric and fun, but my
Catholic friend was so nervous and afraid that she almost went home
before we began the ceremony! She felt she was committing a terrible
sin by being part of it, even though we gave her the name, "Woman Who
Walks With God!" Anyway, that's the impression I got from the radio
host on Survivor, and I think it's sad when someone is so wrapped up in
their own religion that they aren't even curious about, or even worse,
respectful of other cultures and religions. Her attitude just turned me
off immediately.

I agree especially since it was stressed that it wasn't a religious
ceremony. Plus, she really showed her ignorance in thinking that Buddha
is a god. It's just like the Protestant sects who think Catholics
aren't Christians or that Jews worship a different god than they do.

I watched Survivor: China, too and, yes, I was quite satisfied that
Chicken went home. The wrestler woman (I missed the name, but I call
her Ms. Boobs), may end up being sucessful, but I highly doubt it.
She was sick, okay, but she was also quite lazy even after she was
feeling better. My favorite already is the young gravedigger. My
goodness, that is a good looking young man.

Was he out because he was homely or was he out because he was a PITA? I
think it was because he was annoying... the group didn't take to his
advice, so he went around making it known he 'knew better' but when
specifically asked over and over what was a better idea, he refused to
answer.. I so wanted him out and was glad he was booted.

He was totally creepy. If I saw him coming down the street, I'd cross

Yau-Man made it to the top 4. He was my favorite but I'm glad Earl
won. He was cool. For some reason, Sherea this season reminds me of

OK...I have a couple questions for you TV addicts/connoisseurs.

If I skipped most of Desperate Housewives last year....can I start up again?
I was bored to tears and Sunday Night Football was better. I tivoed about
3/4 of the season and then just deleted them all because of getting my new
DVR. I like Nathan Fillion and thought I might give it a try.

LOST....bummer.....FOUR more months! Yeah for Terry O'Quinn winning the
Emmy!

Does anyone watch Friday Night Lights? I wanted to watch it to start with,
but I figured a show about football would CERTAINLY be canceled. (I went
through that with a couple of other shows, so just skipped it.) Can I jump
right in? Same question on Heroes.

Oh...fans of "24"....guess who's coming back?????

There are several sites that give really good recaps of all the shows
including the official network sites for many of them. I'd check them
out for episodic shows like Heroes and Lost. You can also watch the
last episodes of many shows on the official sites. I did that last year
because I missed the final episode of Lost both times it was on.

I saw that Masi Oka guy on one of the talk shows in the last few months. He
was saying you can jump right in for the new season, but I think they all
say that...don't they? I guess you technically could do that and still enjoy
a show, but with anything that is complex, you definitely miss other layers
to the story.

K-Ville was disappointing. The plot was just another shoot-em-up with
car chases (and not a very good one at that). But I did like that
they got most of the details right. The accent (*NOT* a Southern
drawl like most people think - more like a Brooklyn accent than
anything). The "How's ur mom-n-em?" ('how is your mom and them' - not
'how is your family' as the rest of the country would say); and the
"Drive over the nutra-ground," ('neutral ground' - not 'median' as the
rest of the country calls it) - those were spot-on perfect. All they
left out was someone saying "I have to go make groceries" ('buy
groceries' to everyone else) or "Get me a cold drink" ('soda' to
everyone else). But those two moments stood out rather than blending
in nicely to a drama that couldn't be cookie-cuttered into any other
city.

But those two moments stood out rather than blending
in nicely to a drama that couldn't be cookie-cuttered into any other
city.

You got that right, Cat. It always cracks me up when movies and
television portray somebody from N.O. with a strong Southern accent.
It also cracks me up when, according to Hollyweird, everybody in the
South talks like Scarlett O'Hara. When are they going to realize that
most of us don't talk like that? And the ones who do are usually
puttin' on the dawg?

From my many visit's to/thru Georgia over the years, I would have to
disagree. You do talk like that, you probably just don't realize it.

That may be true in some parts of Georgia but not the metropolitan
areas. I've been to Georgia several times before as well as going to
Panama City, FL (where I was born) and haven't heard that accent from
anybody. As for me, I live in Northwest Louisiana and have since
1970 when my father was transferred here in the Air Force. I meet
people who can't believe I'm from the South because they don't think I
have a "typical" Southern accent based on what they've seen in
movies. There is a stereotype of a Southern mushmouth accent but most
of us don't have that. We do speak with a drawl but I know that I can
sound like I come from elsewhere because of my exposure to other
accents growing up on an AF base.

Here is a list of the old & new TV shows, which will be starting again
soon, for the fall season, according to the September 14th issue of EW.
Which new ones are you interested in checking out, and what old ones are
you most looking forward to watching again? Listed are the starting
dates and channels they are on.
My list is embarassingly short.> BROTHERS & SISTERS (drama) 9-30 ABC
Post by Judy Haffner
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (comedy) 9-30 ABC
HEROES (drama) 9-24 NBC
DANCING WITH THE STARS (Reality) 9-24 ABC
THE BIGGEST LOSER (Reality) 9-11 NBC
PUSHING DAISIES (drama) 10-3 ABC
AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL (Reality) 9-19 The CW
GREY'S ANATOMY (drama) 9-27 ABC
UGLY BETTY (comedy) 9-27 ABC
30 ROCK (comedy) 10-4 NBC
That's it.
Post by Judy Haffner
Darn! I missed the pilot for K-VILLE, as that sounded good.
It really wasn't that good, I felt. I was pretty well lost 10 minutes
in.
*That's* what is missing from the list: LOST!! Oh yeah, I'm watching
that one.
Moni
K-Ville was disappointing. The plot was just another shoot-em-up with
car chases (and not a very good one at that). But I did like that
they got most of the details right. The accent (*NOT* a Southern
drawl like most people think - more like a Brooklyn accent than
anything). The "How's ur mom-n-em?" ('how is your mom and them' - not
'how is your family' as the rest of the country would say);
I grew up (in the PNW) with a best friend who would use that expression
(what are you doing tomorrow? "We're going to my aunt'n'thems") But now
that you mention it, her dad was from Mississippi.

With no relatives from New Orleans? That's strange, because I've never
heard anyone outside of N.O. use that expressions (not even other
Louisianans).

I know that they announced the end date so as to secure syndication
deals but I don't think that show will ever come close to doing as well
as it did in syndication as it did in the most recent years (when the
ratings have gone down) much less its more successful early years.

Scrubs, OTOH, is a syndication Fort Knox.

I never watched Scrubs...ever! I actually found myself watching an episode

came close when Audrey appeared, but I over-looked it due to other quality
stuff.)

I think the only time I've watched "Scrubs" is when they did the

Ack, now I know why my wife wanted to watch it. She turned it off,
thankfully, after about 15 minutes with "drivel" as the key word.

Teri Hatcher has really aged none too well. If that's past "work",
yikes. If not, good for her for not getting "work" but if I didn't know
better, I would have put her in her 50's not 40's.

realized I had started doing paperwork just to have something to do

I started watching it earlier this year when they showed reruns of some
of the past seasons, and you're right, it's so much fun to watch! My
youngest daughter has always been a huge fan, and now I am as well.
There's just something about the show that is addicting. Tyra Banks is
a great hostess, and I love all the judges and enjoy watching the photo
shoots. It's so true that make up does wonders for those mostly
ordinary-looking young girls! I missed the first show this season
except for the final 10 minutes because I forgot to tape it, but I'll
definitely keep watching. I also got into Project Runway earlier this
year as well, and I'm hooked on that as well! I'm such a reality show
junkie, but I likes what I like and I don't apologize for it!

COLD CASE (drama) 9-23 CBS

I'm curious about some of the new shows for this fall season, that have
already aired, so if anyone caught the pilots, please tell us what you
thought of them? We weren't home last night, and I had planned to check
out the new comedy BACK TO YOU last night, with Kelsey Grammer and
Patricia Heaton, as that looked like it might actually be good and not
so "over the top" like most of the promos for new comedies this season,
so let me know if you think it's worth watching next week?

How was KID NATION? I missed that last night too, and I see I had the
wrong date in my post, as typed a 0 instead of a 9 (sorry if I goofed
you up)

Anyone watch GOSSIP GIRL, or 'TIL DEATH last night, which are both
comedies (seems to be an "overkill" on them this fall!) ? or how about
KITCHEN NIGHTMARES, which is another Reality show? Is it similar to
HELL'S KITCHEN?

Did anybody here watch NASHVILLE last week, when they had the pilot for
it?

So far the reviews on K-VILLE, that was on earlier this week, didn't
sound too promising...did any of you LIKE it? The promos looked pretty
good, and I like that type of show, but don't want to waste my time, if
it's a "snoozer"!

I AM going to check out SURVIVOR tonight...have never watched it, but
it's been highly recommended to me, sooooo will give it a shot and see
what I think?! Is there many SURVIVOR fans in the newsgroup?

Yes, that's very true for sure, and I read in another newsgroup said
there are counselors and doctors on set at all times too.

Entertainment weekly said that people have cried foul over everything
from the contracts the parents signed, to the children's living
conditions, to whether the production violated New Mexico state child
labor laws. They said that avalanche of bad press could prove too much
to overcome. CBS has responded that the series "was filmed responsibly
and within all applicable laws."

It should be noted that Utah changed it's child labor laws right after
the show finished filming. I doubt, if there is to be a "Kid's Nation
2" that they will find a location to legally film it in the U.S. I've
already heard that specific Canadian provinces are being examined.

CBS is in CYA mode all the way on this one, IMHO. Any parent,
especially of an 8 year old etc. who let their kid participate, I think,
should have their heads examined.

For all intents and purposes, it's Survivor with kids in a, somewhat,
safer setting. What have we become as a society if we really want to
view television like that?

The kid who volunteered to go home should have been given $20,000. for
he courage of his convictions. I bet a lot more would have left,
without the money, had that happened.

We've debated this in here about a month ago so I don't wish to rehash
the past. As I watched the show, the other night, I vacillated between
admiration for the courage of the kids and anger at the adults, at every
level, who put them into this setting.

I was really curious about this show, but, again, it did not ring true

was disappointed. I may try one more time, though, just to see if it
gets any better. I guess I'm stuck with my old faves instead of these

Well..there ARE people manning the
cameras at least...right??
Yes, that's very true for sure, and I read in another newsgroup said
there are counselors and doctors on set at all times too.
Entertainment weekly said that people have cried foul over everything
from the contracts the parents signed, to the children's living
conditions, to whether the production violated New Mexico state child
labor laws. They said that avalanche of bad press could prove too much
to overcome. CBS has responded that the series "was filmed responsibly
and within all applicable laws."
Judy
Heh. I think it was a case of "no such thing as bad publicity."
Would anyone have known about this show unless this "outrage" had been
publicized?

It was far better than I thought it would
be. It was actually quite interesting to
see how the kids tried to get along and
surprising kids who became leaders. I
will watch it again.
Thanks for the comeback on this show, Moni...wish I would have recorded
it when I was gone from home last night, but I did see on TV tonight,
that they will air the pilot again, but missed WHEN it will be, so will
have to check the schedule??! Surely there must be some adults close
by, in case of a serious injury, or if one should get real sick?! Surely
they have communication with them....cell phone, or other, don't ya'
think?
Judy
Kid Nation will have an encore performance Saturday night at 8 eastern
time (I think).

out the new comedy BACK TO YOU last night, with Kelsey Grammer and
Patricia Heaton, as that looked like it might actually be good
I thought Back to You was totally boring. It was always my opinion that
Kelsey was the least funny person on Frasier, and all the big laughs
came from the supporting characters. I won't be watching it again.

How was KID NATION? I missed that last night too, and I see I had the
wrong date in my post, as typed a 0 instead of a 9 (sorry if I goofed
you up)
I really liked Kid Nation. I was amazed at how mature some of the
little kids were. It will be on again Saturday at 8 pm here.

Anyone watch GOSSIP GIRL, or 'TIL DEATH last night
'Til Death was pretty funny. I watched most of last season's episodes.
It will be on against Dancing with the Stars next week, so that's
probably the last time I'll watch it in real time.

So far the reviews on K-VILLE, that was on earlier this week, didn't
sound too promising...did any of you LIKE it?
No!

What you saw was the pilot. It's been pretty widely acknowledged,
including by Grammer himself, that he was the weak link in the pilot.
They've done some writing upgrades and the show does have significant
potential from the other episodes, I've seen.

I can't believe it's on Fox, though. Given the weight of the two stars,
it should have made the Big Three.

FWIW, Kelsey Grammer is a very, very, nice guy in person. He's a give
you the shirt off his back kind of person. He's also the new Bob Hope
of Hollywood in that he owns so much real estate, like Hope, that if the
numbers were ever really added up, he might be in Spielberg's level of
net worth. His daughter, who is on "Greek" is a delightful young woman
who might battle Lohan (should she ever clean up her act) as the best
actress of that age group.

Pat Heaton, OTOH....the couple of times I've been around her....I
thought she was a lot closer to the woman on Raymond that she played.

Thanks for your input, Don. Actually the fellow that played Kelsey's
brother on Frasier was the funniest of the two..his character was Niles
(David Hyde-Pierce) and never see or hear of him anymore?! I think he
won several awards over the years too. I always like Patricia Heaton in
Everybody Loves Raymond.

The majority on here seem to think that Kid Nation is quite an
interesting show, so I will have to make a point of checking it out, at
least. I can't find it listed on our Saturday TV schedule.....hmmmmm???

Just won a Tony for lead actor in a musical. He's open to tv again but
is concerned that he's been both typecast and won't be able to get as
quality a show as Frazier was.

Thanks to you, and the others in the NG too, that told me that the pilot
of "Kid Nation" would be on last night, as I did tune in for it, and
really enjoyed it actually, and I think it has a lot of potential! Is a
very different concept for a Reality show, and quite unique. It was
great too, cause when they showed the pilot last night, there was NO
commercials...yippee!

Summing up a few comments I have on the show...I noticed that most of
the kids (maybe all) are extremely intelligent, and seem quite mature
for their ages..for instance Jared, who I think was only 11, and rather
"geeky" looking, but wise beyond his years. I really like the two girls
on the "town council", who are among the 4 leaders....10 year old Taylor
(she's a pretty little thing) and Laurel, who is 12. I also really like
14 year old Mike, who gave a good speech, at the very first
organizational meeting, when none of them wanted to listen, or get their
act together. He's much more likeable than 15 year old Greg, who is the
oldest of the group, and a bit of a bully perhaps!?

14 year old Sophie has a good head on her shoulders, when she danced in
the street to earn money for a bicycle from the "general store". She
works hard and deserved the gold star, worth $20,000.

I was VERY impressed with the biscuits the kids made....with NO recipe?
They looked better than mine!

I'm not sure about the store, where they can buy things, as looks like
mainly candy and pop??!! They'll all have BIG dental bills when they get
back home, and some will just spend the money they "earn" on junk too!

I was surprised they had a TV for a 2nd choice.....as wouldn't think in
that situation, that TV would even be allowed, since wasn't present in
the the good ol' days. I'm glad the kids had enough sense though, to
choose the 7 outhouses.

Was sorry to see little Jimmy go home, but 8 is pretty young to deal
with something like that...hard to be away from home at that age. What a
cutie he was, but was sad for him.

Anyway....am looking forward to the 2nd episode!

I'm so glad you found it, Judy! I agree about the maturity of the
kids. They certainly are more eloquent than a couple of my grandkids
who are the same age. :) Next week's episode about killing a chicken
brings up all sorts of issues. I know that seeing a documentary about
the treatment of beef cattle resulted in one of my daughters turning
into a vegetarian for a couple of years. After a while, however, she
discovered that she doesn't really like veggies, so she accepted
eating chicken, ham (no bacon, though) and fish. My daughter may not
be logical about this, but I have to love the fact that she tries.

I can pretty much guarantee that they were chosen for their intelligence
and maturity as much as for their personalities. If they had put a
bunch of just average kids out there, they'd all be starving and
fighting with each other before the first day was over.
Post by Judy Haffner

This is where you've got to figure they aren't telling you the whole
story. Either one of those kids had made biscuits more than once
before, they'd looked at the recipe book and remembered what it said, or
some adult off camera was coaching them. It's just too odd to think
they could go from not knowing how to boil pasta to making baked goods
without some help.

If you give kids money in real life, about 99% of the time they'll spend
it on junk food. They aren't getting that much money to spend, so a few
pieces of candy aren't going to kill them. Did you notice one kid bought
a book with his money?

It was a test to see if they'd make an intelligent decision I think.
Again, don't you think they were coached in some way? I'll bet some
adult explained the consequences of voting one way or the other.

Did you ever see a reality show where they show the crew? Take Home
Chef is one that shows them. There are producers, a director, camera
men, sound men, and others making around 8 to 12 people altogether, and
that's a show centered around one person. For a show like Kid Nation,
there must be several crews like that to catch all the action. You can
bet that before a kid sticks his hand in the fire some adult will ask if
they think that's a good idea.

To be perfectly honest, I've never seen one minute of that show and
hadn't even heard of it until this past week. I saw the trailers for the
upcoming season and saw that Mandy Moore was appearing in it, looking as
damn good as ever I might add, so I took note of it.

There is nothing listed for Saturday??? I know that AMERICA'S MOST
WANTED is on FOX, as the new season started last week.
Darn! I missed the pilot for K-VILLE, as that sounded good. I also want
to check out LIFE, and maybe MOONLIGHT. I've never watched SURVIVOR, but
just might give it a try this season, and intend to watch THE NEXT
GREAT AMERICAN BAND and definitely will be watching the new season of
DWTS.
Check schedules, as some of them start this week!
Judy
Looking at what's left from your list after I deleted what I won't be
watching, I won't be watching much TV. I didn't see the Singing Bee on
there. I love Joey! There is just way too much reality TV for me. Bring
back the sitcoms! Bring back the variety shows! Bring back talent!

I might give it a chance, simply because I really like the character of
Addision, and I think Kate Walsh is simply one of the most beautiful and
classy looking women on television.. though I am concerned with the
reports that they're making her a bit 'wackier' than she was on GA.. also,
anything with Tim Daly is something I am more than willing to give a
chance :-)

The choices seem to have left off Bravo.. and I can't find anything on
that gawd-awful website.. whoever designed it should be *shot*... Any of
the Wednesday at 10pm eastern shows just about, are "must see" tv.. Right
now is Top Chef (though I'm way behind, eek!).. Project Runway.. top
Design was sorta lame, but still watchable.. and a decent enough filler
while waiting for the real stuff that is PR & Top chef.

SURVIVOR: CHINA (reality) 9-20 CBS
I had no plans whatsoever to watch Survivor, but I think as long as James,
the grave digger is in, so am I! *slurp*... lol..

GREY'S ANATOMY (drama) 9-27 ABC
Absolutely, though I hope they make Izzy less of an annoying Beyotch and
give Callie O'Malley more face time.. she is gorgeous, and sexy and I
Lurve her..LOL.. And keep that annoying Izzy away from poor Georgie..
*hurl*

UGLY BETTY (comedy) 9-27 ABC
I really enjoyed UB last season, but I dunno.. I might've been Betty'ed
out.. we'll see.. I was really hoping to reduce my TV time, not increase
it.. and in the summer that was really easy to do.. now, I will have to
work harder to do it.. moving my desktop away from the television was one
step in the right direction.. however, that still leaves my laptop handy.

DON'T FORGET THE LYRICS (game) 9-6 FOX
Fun enough show if I'm around, but not a must see.. my son & I happened to
watch this together the other day and it was kind of fun. He normally
works nights, though.

THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND (Reality) 10-19 FOX
My son, the rock star wannabee thinks this is really lame.. I might tune
it to see how it goes... I might not, though.

MEN IN TREES (comedy) 10-12 ABC
This having moved from a 10pm slot on thursday and my perfect antidote to
Grey's Anatomy, to 8pm on friday- what a damn show killer this is.. and I
so want to see more and more and more of Alaska Jack and Plow guy....
dammit it all.. why couldn't they leave it where it on Thursday.. they
already tried it on friday and it was not doing well at *all*.. *GAH*
stupid tv execs.

Men in Trees was like the after dinner mint, that came after the heavy
meal that was Greys'.. the perfect perk-me-up. *sigh*

There is nothing listed for Saturday??? I know that AMERICA'S MOST
WANTED is on FOX, as the new season started last week.
Nobody watches TV on saturdays! ;-) Saturday is where they send TV shows
to die.

DANCING WITH THE STARS (Reality) 9-24 ABC
I was very much looking forward to this one, but three days a week is just
too, too much, sadly.
ABC has little, so max it out. When it ends and the Carrie vs Bruno,
X-Factor ripoff begins around Dec. or Jan, may well significantly
overexpose the show.
