Rigatoni cooked al dente.
3/4 large jar of Ragu poured over pasta
Costco frozen meatball tossed on top (as many as you like)
Mozzarella cubed tossed on top (as much as you like
Run a spatula through the ingredients a couple of times to mix and
distribute meatballs and cheese.
Pour the rest of the Ragu over the top.
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese what ever kind you have
350F for about 25-30 minutes

Smells good, tastes good.

Canned pears for dessert

I take short cuts whenever I can because my back and knee just won't
allow me to stand very long. I've been cleaning house today and quick
and easy is best.

Sounds like a plan to me, Janet! I do prefer Newman's Own brand if I'm
using a jarred sauce but hey, whatever you've got works to make things
easier on your back and knee. Enjoy! :)

Screw the fabbed meatballs. Add some popeye ground beaf and extra cheese. Ragu is ok.

I own a meat grinder, used it a couple of times to grind a chuck roast
for burgers, that was the end of that. I have no problem buying ground
meat from the grocery store.

Many years ago for New Years' Eve I needed 6 ounces of ground pork to
make Kahnom Jeeb (steamed Thai shrimp, crab & pork dumplings). The
nearest grocery store where I lived at the time had just been bought out
by Albertson's or some such chain. I went looking for ground pork but
all I could find were 1 lb. packages of Hormel cryovac'd ground pork. I
was frustrated because I didn't need a pound of ground pork. I was
trying to think what would I use the rest for, maybe meatballs. (I had
a small apartment size refrigerator/freezer so storage was an issue.)

The butcher saw me and asked what I needed. I said I only need 6 ounces
of ground pork for this recipe. He was apparently unhappy with new
management and the "corporate" practices imposed upon him. He said,
"They tell me I'm only allowed to grind beef." [Fear of
cross-contamination.] "I've been a butcher for 25 years, I know how to
clean a grinder and I clean it after every grind." He then proceeded to
select a nice pork chop and ground the amount of pork I needed. He
slapped a label on it that simply said "meat" and then cleaned the
grinder. :)

I have a vintage one that I picked up some where a while back, new in
box from the 40's! It's actually really clean. I'll humor Sheldon some
day and try it, probably when I decided to make a meatloaf again, and
I'll post the results. If I ever use it again, or regularly, would
depend on how much of a PITA it is to clean out after using.

No matter how good your cooking skills are, sometimes simple is best.

I roasted three chicken thighs Saturday. Had the second on Sunday, the
third today with the same mashed potatoes and a salad.

My house was cleaned too, but I just watched.

Not sure about tomorrow yet, I'll check out the freezer. Don't want to
make anything with leftovers. Thursday and Friday are all set. Turkey
next door and bring home some leftovers.

Thursday I'll be going to my niece's house and I'm planning on a bunch
of leftovers, too. I will take a ham, amongst other things, but I'll keep
several slices here for breakfasts and lunches.

Bruce simply cannot stand it, people enjoy eating meat. Meanwhile, he
posts absolutely *nothing* about what he eats. Rather than bitching
about people like you and me making fun of Kuthe's so called

But no... it is so much easier for him to bitch and then call us bitches.

I guess he'll have a shit fit when he finds out I've bought a couple packages
of those little brown 'n serve rolls that have been around forever. They're
perfect to slip a few in the toaster oven, split them open, and shove a small
slice in for a quick breakfast.

That little piggy that will go in the oven tomorrow will make me a thankful

Instead of Buffalo sauce you should try piri piri. We get it from Costco
and it is great with anything chicken.

House cleaning requires a lot more physical effort than cooking...
it's easy to prepare food from sitting in a chair. You'd be wise to
get yourself a comfortable sturdy stool on casters... most kitchen
work requires constant moving about retrieving items and then putting
them back, much less effort from a stool on casters. Get one with
adjustable height. And get one of those grab sticks for retrieving
items from high/low shelves, saves a lot of reaching/bending... we
have four of those grab sticks, one at each end of the house, and one
in each tractor for picking up trash without climbing in and out...
everywhere there are people who toss trash, cans, bottles from car
windows. I already have all the ingredients, cans/seasonings lined up
on a kitchen counter for cooking tomorrow. Oftentimes people with
handicaps are their own worst enemies. Ever since I took that fall at
Easter time both my ankles are still sore and the wounds are taking a
long time to heal. I find kitchen work more debilitating now so I
plan things so I don't need to stand much... sitting at the kitchen
counter by the sink prepping veggies, etc. saves a lot of standing.
Walking is not nearly as bad as standing... I'm very glad I installed
heavy duty SS grab bars in the tub for showering. I installed them
for my wife when she had her double knee replacement, and now I use
them, a lot safer. I think grab bars in the bathing area need to be
in the building code.

No matter how good your cooking skills are, sometimes simple is best.
Those with good cooking skills make complex cooking simple. I always
use a pad and pencil to make notes as I think of things, even days
before... saves a lot of steps. I learned that trick from childhood,
I grew up in a two story house, all tasks were a lot easier with
written notes and I learned to never go up or down the stairs empty
handed. Even now I keep a basket at the top and bottom of the
basement stairs.

Were I living alone I wouldn't buy a turkey, I'd buy a couple three
turkey drumsticks, easy/fast to grill on the Weber and my favorite
part of the bird. The Weber is great for grilling all kinds of food,
especially veggies. I've already used it for baking corn muffins...
uses half the propane of the oven in the kitchen stove.

At 6 AM this morning it was 17º outside, now at 10:43 AM it's 50º
outside, clear blue sky and sunny.

Smells good, tastes good.
Canned pears for dessert
I take short cuts whenever I can because my back and knee just won't
allow me to stand very long. I've been cleaning house today and quick
and easy is best.
Janet US
House cleaning requires a lot more physical effort than cooking...
it's easy to prepare food from sitting in a chair.

Post by Ed Pawlowski
I roasted three chicken thighs Saturday. Had the second on Sunday, the
third today with the same mashed potatoes and a salad.
My house was cleaned too, but I just watched.
Not sure about tomorrow yet, I'll check out the freezer. Don't want to
make anything with leftovers. Thursday and Friday are all set. Turkey
next door and bring home some leftovers.

1. I personally don't care for turkey drumsticks.
2. The turkey drumsticks I've seen are already cooked and smoked.
3. For myself, I'd just buy a turkey breast as that's the meat I prefer.

If you're using Windows 10 check your character map for the correct
symbol for the degree sign. It's alt0176, press the alt key while typing
in those numbers, release and you have °.

I don't think it's part of Cortana because I disabled that. It's where
you'd type 'regedit' to start the Registry Editor, for instance. But
maybe that box isn't as smart yet in Windows 7.

If you're using Windows 10 check your character map for the correct
symbol for the degree sign. It's alt0176, press the alt key while typing
in those numbers, release and you have °.

It's one in the same with Celsius, an interchangeable term. Centigrade
name was around longer.

Why should he cater to the 5.3% of the world's population who doesn't?
Just because we're Americans? (Not counting Myanmar and Liberia,

Even if you don't use metric in daily life, you should know something

Aw, give us poor Americans a break. It's only officially been Celsius since
1948. Even the BBC didn't give up "Centigrade" until 1985.

Old habits die hard. I remember the good old days when we used the
Fahrenheit scale for weather and cooking and the Centigrade scale in
science class. It was about 8 years from the time I graduated high
school until we went metric and used Celsius I confess that the names
are interchangeable to me.

I don't calculate exact. I know that 14 is cool, 22 is about perfect,
around 30 is getting hot. Weather here will be nice this week, lows 20s

I don't usually bother converting. I grew up with Imperial and later
worked in metric. When it comes to weather and temperature I have both
scales broken down into ranges of really hot, hot, warm comfortable, put
on a sweater, sweater and jacket, parka, hat and gloves and really
fucking cold.

Yes, I do recall you posing that some time ago. Your method is more
accurate, but when trying to do fast mental math, double and add 30
gives a good rough estimate.

You need to specify whether that's US fluid ounces, or Imperial (UK)

If you're using Windows 10 check your character map for the correct
symbol for the degree sign. It's alt0176, press the alt key while typing
in those numbers, release and you have °.
Or just don't bother with the degree sign. 17 F is perfectly comprehensible.
Not to me.
You don't know that 17 F means 17 Fahrenheit? What a tosser.
Of course, but I have no idea what temperature that is in the real
world.
..And you people get on me for not being on-board with Centigrade and
Metric... hypocrites!
Bruce was born in a metric country. He lives in a metric country.
94.7% of the world's population uses metric.
Why should he cater to the 5.3% of the world's population who doesn't?
Just because we're Americans? (Not counting Myanmar and Liberia,
of course.)
Even if you don't use metric in daily life, you should know something
about it. Or you could wallow in ignorance.
Even Myanmar uses metric... well, both systems, actually.
Let me tell you a secret: so does the U.S.
It's a secret?

Pardon me while I have a pull from my 2-liter bottle of Coca-Cola.
Litre. It's 'Litre'. You Merkins not only dislike Metric, you can't
even spell the units right.

It works for me. I cannot allow myself to pretend I don't understand that.

Yes, that would be better than a bunch of scrambled letters at the end of some
numbers and imagining he's shooting for the degree symbol.

(Joan would lost without her character map pinned to her task bar.)

And is useful for our friends who don't use Fahrenheit.

LOTS of stuff not really pertaining to this discussion snipped.

1. I personally don't care for turkey drumsticks.
2. The turkey drumsticks I've seen are already cooked and smoked.
3. For myself, I'd just buy a turkey breast as that's the meat I prefer.

At 6 AM this morning it was 17ē outside, now at 10:43 AM it's 50ē
outside, clear blue sky and sunny.

Odd, the degree sign looked normal to me in Sheldon's post, until you
quoted the post.

I had spicy fried Korean noodles with shrimp and mushroom. The mushrooms and noodles were boiled with some shrimp heads. It was entirely too spicy but we plowed through it.
