Not dead but possessor of an American cardboard box. Six months almost
to the day that you behaved as a spoilt brat considering a drive to and
from Durham as your duty rather than following the guidance observed by
the nation.

You are a moral disgrace and it is a sad blight that your refusal to
acknowledge your mistake by not offering an immediate resignation has
had huge and detrimental impact on the willingness of people to
subsequently observe guidance.

I hope you are conscious that the mistakes you made have almost
certainly cost peoples' lives. Somehow I doubt you have any concept of
that.

It has been reported that he was still wearing his 10 Downing Street lanyard
as he was leaving.

I think the reports of his early demise may be exaggerated.

He is apparently to spend his remaining time working from home. I love
that it was BJ's gf who got rid of him. Cherchez la femma.

I have to say that I don't love it. There are so many lies being
told...er...I mean conflicting versions of events that I'm treating
everything with a pinch of salt, but I don't think the PM's partner
should be making important and influential decisions which affect the
government of this country.

God knows, I heartily dislike Cummings and am glad to see the back of
him (if we have) and I have a lot of sympathy with the women (and men)
who are sick of the aggressive laddish culture which has been reported
to be around the PM (see my earlier caveat about conflicting etc), but
whatever is going on, it really isn't for his partner to be making
decisions like that.

What I find most disturbing (to put it mildly) is that we're
experiencing a pandemic which is taking hundreds of lives every day and
having catastrophic economic effects on individuals and on the country
as a whole, and the deadline is looming for a Brexit deal which will
have profound consequences for decades to come...and the people who
should be dealing with all this are spending their time and attention on
in-fighting. I'm sure such struggles happen regularly and with all
stripes of government, but this is really not the time for it.

I am willing to bet that PMs' wives have had that sort of influence
since the beginning of politics. Would there have been the same amount
of fuss if CS had actually been BoJo's wife?

I think it is more that he doesn't care. None of them do. The little
people do not matter.

For me the most surprising thing was that Barbara Castle had moved up
north and become an optician.

I didn't see that coming either.
