Schlock Mercenary: 2020: There Will Be An Ending

"The Schlock Mercenary mega-arc will draw to a close this year."

"The arc began when Schlock enlisted with Tagon’s Toughs in the strip
dated June 12, 2000. That means it’s basically everything that has
appeared on this site so far. It will end with closure, resolution,
satisfaction, and a big, all-caps “THE END.”"

Bummer.

I'm sure it will remain online, at least for our lifetimes
(yours, mine, Tayler's), so we can go back and read it all.

Right after I go back and reread Book 2 of _A Girl and Her Fed_
and the latest couple books of _Girl Genius_, so I can figure out
wotthehell is going on. Two or three pages a week don't linger
in my memory well enough to leave a coherent plot.

Well, yeah, but that's been known if not since he started, at least for
many years. He's said it often.

I was much impressed, when I found it a few years after it began, at
how he made everything look as though it had been planned from the
beginning, working from an outline. Every surprise arose organically
from what had come before. Who would have thought that the magic
cryokit would be so important several stories later? And look what
became of a throw-away Halloween story about a haunted space ship!
But at present, I'm enjoying each strip separately; I haven't the
foggiest idea what is going on. Perhaps after the story ends, I'll
read it again from the beginning.
Its gotten a bit complicated as the story has escalated over the years.
At the moment there are at least three major sub-threads, each of which
has sub-sub-threads as individuals and small groups get separated and
re-united.

But the over-arcing situation is that "our" galaxy is at war with Dark
Matter beings from another galaxy.

The math required to fire the "Long Gun" from their galaxy to the Milky
Way would be simply amazing. And doable at their level of technology.

Double Quintuple Precision for all !
