Devo Hardcore Q

Anyone know which version of the Devo Hardcore CDs came first? I've
seen the Ryko (green jewel case) version and the digipak version (from
Rhino?), but don't know which to start looking for.

I could kick myself for not grabbing these discs when I originally saw
them in the store. :(

and Space Girl Blues are a single CD track, unlike the Ryko discs which

want to search for the Ryko release in the normal jewel case packaging,
as it'll probably be the easiest to find.

Only volumes 1 and 2 are legitimate releases. I'm pretty sure that the
vol 3 and 4 CDs are bootlegs. I've forgotten what the contents are
exactly. There might be come overlap...

These are not legitimate releases, and I'd even bet they're CD-Rs. I never
got these two "additional-volumes-that-never-were" simply because I already
have most of the tracks on tape. Some of the tracks are a little weak, but
the majority are easily on par with the material on the official releases,
IMO. A few tracks sound more like home-bedroom recordings than usual, with
just guitar and Mark & Gerry's vocals.

I'd personally say that even if they *are* CD-Rs, they're probably worth
getting, although I can't vouch for the sound quality since they could be
from a different source than my tape copies. Start with the official
Hardcores first, though!

I'd personally say that even if they *are* CD-Rs, they're probably worth
getting, although I can't vouch for the sound quality since they could be
from a different source than my tape copies. Start with the official
Hardcores first, though!

Happy the trade any off the stuff, got the most off the titels.

I made that list about two years ago. It wasn't that accurate and when

Anyone know which version of the Devo Hardcore CDs came first? I've
seen the Ryko (green jewel case) version and the digipak version (from
Rhino?), but don't know which to start looking for.

They're both on Ryko, and as I recall, they both came out at the same time.
But they didn't make as many of the digipak version, so that's the harder
one to find.

The "digipak" is the one with the fold-out case, correct?

I've got Hardcore 1 in that version. I bought it at the now-departed
Blockbuster Music store, where you could preview CD's before buying.
I listened to it to make sure it was the same as the tape I had of it.
The clerk who re-shrinkwrapped it put the wrong price tag on
it--$13.99 as opposed to $23.99. The bar code still read the correct
price when scanned, but they had to sell it to me for that price
(especially after I said the words, "bait and switch.") :-)
