I use Google Calendar and have added 2 other Calendars for live events
which are broadcast (at least weekly) from the US. One of them is
usually timed at 2 pm EST and for the next 2 events (which are
advertised as starting at 2 pm EST), Google has shown the first at 6 pm
and the next at 7 pm GMT. The other event is timed at 10 am their time
from Phoenix, Arizona where they don't adjust their clocks for
Winter/Summer. I have been attending those webinars for over a year, at
5 pm in the Winter and 6 pm in the summer. Now I see that Google
Calendar tells me the timing is 4 pm GMT, though I know that they will
continue to be broadcast at 10 am Phoenix time.

Has Google lost the plot?

I don't use Google apps, but I do know somewhat about how time zone
software generally works (except in Windows which is a law to itself
and usually does things wrongly/the hard way (delete as applicable)).

First thing I would check is whether the Phoenix events are actually
listed in the calendar as Mountain Time, or whether the calendar events
are for some reason in EST/EDT like the East Coast ones ? EST/EDT is
a common default timezone for historical reasons (probably to do with
the location of MIT) and possibly whoever listed them didn't set them
up correctly.

I think in most places they do, but AIUI they don't in Phoenix - maybe
the whole of Arizona but I only know what the person presenting the
events from Phoenix has said.

Coo. You learn something new every day on umra.

Neither does Belarus. We made a day trip to Grodno. I had checked they use Moscow Time but failed to spot they don't use Summer Time.

Grodno bus station is every bit as boring as any British bus station to while away an extra hour in. We could have had a proper meal rather than using a snack bar opposite the bus station.

Argentina doesn't have daylight saving time: they set their clocks
three hours behind GMT even though the capital city is almost as far
to the west of the three-hour marker as it is possible to go and most
of the country really ought to be in the four-hour zone. Chile, its
neighbour, is one hour behind Argentina but during the summer, when it
observes DST, the times are the same.

We had booked seats on a very early international bus from Bariloche,
near the west of Argentina to Puerto Montt as far to the west of Chile
as it is possible to go at that latitude. I'm always a bit nervous
about turning up late for a long-distance trip so tend to err on the
side of caution. Time spent in the cafe watching your
train/boat/plane/bus preparing for boarding is never wasted time IMO.
We arrived at Bariloche with more than an hour to spare and a bus to
Puerto Montt was already boarding. It was quarter to six.

I hadn't realised that Puerto Montt was such a popular destination so
I casually asked how many buses ran there each day.

"Just the one," came the reply

"But we have booked seats on the seven o'clock"

"This is the seven o'clock."

"But it's not even six o'clock yet!"

"Oh. The seven o'clock bus always leaves at six o'clock in the
summer."

And that explanation was all that I was going to get.

Can't answer that but I find it convenient to record some of the American
TV series I enjoy, in the early hours of the morning when they are less
likely to interfere with other viewing/recording activity. My PVR let me
down badly on Sunday night/Monday morning by getting the times wrong :(
