Dark Moth & Cloud Puppy
As I wait
I know the cable is fine
it's stretched bright and tight
the inner heat
recognition of your beautiful tattered soul
impossible to describe
or to understand how much repair it might take.
I wasn't there when you needed me
you were not there for me on those nights.
We've crossed a certain edge
I rest my wings
perched on your shoulder
this chilled sunny Thursday
you sleep with your dark lovers in dreams
I am awake and watching for honey.
Who can really know where this might go,
we could make it to the top or go sideways,
but I can never go back now ---
just as you can never really go back.
We've crossed this certain edge
we exist in a new world
different from the separate deserts we've crossed.
I am the dark moth
you appear to be a cloud puppy
I understand you may float away
or take another shape lost to me.
The sun has no burn
in this very long winter
with these smiles
the longer I live
the less I seem to know
I'm learning patience these many days.
Desire draws me to a flickering light
broken hearts strewn across this landscape
silver platters and beer cans to the bottom of the river
we've tossed from this burning bridge.
From the very first night
like a moth to your light
I was drawn right to the source
I float around, all roads lead to you
the sun has no burn but a warm dark light.
We have stories to tell
the paths you took to get to this place where
this place where we have an agenda.
We've crossed the edge to a new country
no reason now to look back
it can be done but what would it mean
it's complicated and not all it seems.
Friends with words
sage advice and dire warnings.
I am the dark moth
obsessed with the warmth of the labyrinth
it's a new dreamtown
things could be lucrative for us,
the coins are heaven scent.
