1) Where is the best steak for the price? I don't mind paying a bit for it
but I want a good one. Nothing would piss me off more then overpaying for
a piece of shoe leather.

2) Best on strip hotel deal. We are there for 2 nights Sat the 28th and
Sun March 1. I have 6 guys so I need 3 rooms with 2 doubles in it. A suite
with 6 beds if that is cheaper. We decided to stay on the strip since we
are only there for 2 weeks and 4 of us are Vegas Virgins. I have been
looking at Cheap-o-Vegas and hotels.com but want to talk to the folks here.

In my experience, nearly all of the Vegas steakhouses know how to do steak
right.

My personal favourites have been Binion's Steakhouse (highly recommended,
decent prices), At he Imperial palace (I don't remember exactly the name,
but it's on the fifth floor on the far left as you exit the elevators),
and SW at the Wynn (pricey, elegant, but OMG yum). There are many others
too.

Now is the time to go with one of the mid-high end hotels and get a deal.
Venetian is great, so is Wynn. I've never stayed at Bellagio, or MGM
Grand or Manadlay, but those are all good too. Remember the $20 room
upgrades on check-in ;)

I would even add the steak house at Harrah's ... a surprise ... the Ranch
House??? I forget the name. Nice view.

The Range. Nice view looking to the heart of the Strip from a panoramic
window a few stories up. None of the higher end casino steak houses are
going to be serving "shoe leather" and almost every casino has one... So
it's a matter of service level, style, ambiance and value.

When checking in to the hotel, try to get a younger man or older woman
to check you in. When you hand over your credit card, have folded with
it a single $20 bill (not 2 tens, just one bill. Hell, make it a 50 if
you want the clerk to think you have more money than brains). Ask if
there are any complimentary room upgrades available. Good odds that
you will get a nice hookup.

For hotels, I have found this the best.

http://www.vegas.com/

The Saturday night rooms will be much more expensive than the Sunday night
rooms.

On the strip, it is likely the Imperial Palace and maybe the Tropicana for
the cheapest ... I presume the "2 weeks" is an error.

It is late to get rooms. I would contact the casinos directly.

It is a little more of a walk, but the Stratosphere is often a large bargain
... you might be able to get a 3 bed suite there and maybe in some others.

I have been getting "offers" from all the main hotels, but you seem to want
the "cheapest" rather than really "nice."

Good luck, you'll have a great time. Next time, stay a while.

Thanks for the tip. Yes it was supposed to say 2 nights.

I would stay a while next time. This time the biking was the main focus
and Vegas was a tack on.

I was looking at the Strat and the 2 nights I had in mind would average
out to $85 CAD per room per night which doesn't seem bad. Hooters was $80
CAD

Where are you dealing again? I may want to swing by and have You critique

DO NOT STAY AT HOOTERS, Chris.

I always have a car in Vegas so I have not actually ever walked from the
Strat to the south strip.

It could be very cold.

There is supposed to be a trolley and I have seen it pass in front of the
Strat.

Usually, your visit to the Strat can include free tickets to the top of the
tower ... worth the effort ... and they have a show as well that is often
included in the package price ... usually also worth the effort.

You do not say where you plan to play poker or if you plan much.

On Saturday, every room is likely to be crowded and full of fun and fish ...
a few more would be welcome. :-)

There is a Tix4Tonight on the north strip just south of the Flamingo ... you
cannot miss it.

http://www.tix4tonight.com/

(I prefer the downtown location early in the morning ... it is always the
least crowded.)

If you see only one show, make it a cirque or Le Reve ... pricey but great.
There are LOTS of free things to do. You cannot do it all.

I plan on playing poker but 4 of the guys going with me have no interest
in poker and they are going to the clubs and girls. I am really the only
one going to play. Unless I get a great poker rate somewhere they are
going to have the most feed back on location as they will be doing the
most.

I wont even scratch the surface.

I was thinking about putting out a calling all RGP'rs lunch. Sunday the
1st 11:30 I'll be there and seeing who shows up. Is there a good central
location/diner to do this? I was thinking for fun I'd put this picture of
Arlo up and seeing who sits down.

The Strat is nowhere near any of the big properties on the strip. You
can probably get a better rate across the street at the Sahara.

Rent a car anyway (It'll cost less than cab fares) and have a DD at
night.

Stay downtown at Binion's or 4 Queens or Plaza for $30 or so a night.

Best,

Peter

the same date(s), same hotel, same room type, same rate type, and for
same number of guests and you notify VEGAS.com within 24 hours after
booking your room with us, VEGAS.com will give you double the difference
back, up to $150.

I stayed at the Belagio last time around and had a great meal at Olives.
It's an Italian place but did a great grilled ribeye. Nice wine list too.
I went back the following night for grilled Salmon. Probably over priced
but you only live once.

Are you bringing the wife? If you haven't seen the "O" show yet you
should. It's bonerriffic.

If not try Club Paradise for a high end boner.

If not try Club Paradise for a high end boner.
I KNOW I'm going to regret asking, but....Could you please clarify the
difference between a regular boner and high end boner?

;)

(And I can now cross that off the list of sentences I never thought
I'd write.)

Hope this helps.

I stayed at the Belagio last time around and had a great meal at Olives.
It's an Italian place but did a great grilled ribeye. Nice wine list too.
I went back the following night for grilled Salmon. Probably over priced
but you only live once.

I haven't been to Club Paradise, but I would highly recommend ANY Canadian
peeler joint rather than anything in the USA. You'll end up spending way
more money than you wanted to and yet being left "so unsatisfied" in a
very Teddy KGB sort of way.

Crass as that was, it's true. You know that smug, self-satisfied feeling
you get when you bring your girl off? Girls get it too, but it only takes
them a couple minutes (OK, maybe there are guys out there that can be
blown for more than a few minutes without popping, but I'm not one of
them).

He's talking about the blow job part of the marriage, not the emotional
relationship part. Not even true love is going to get that for ya, bub.
I've been married to my true love for 20 years (and we've been together
basically for about 28 years). We had our first date when I was 13 and she
was 12. I'm still trying to figure it all out, but Dan is dead-on correct
about the blow job thing.

No matter what bullshit you've been told, women don't like doing it. They
will do it if you get them in the mood and under the right circumstances.
The focus of your married life will become an exercise in trying to
orchestrate those circumstances, and to defuse situations which might
interfere with said circumstances. :))

There are plenty of expensive steak houses in Vegas. The Capital Grill
is in the Fashion Show Mall directly across from Wynn Las Vegas,
Delmonicos at the Venetian, Smith and Wollensky is across Las Vegas
Blvd from the Monte Carlo (just north of the MGM Grand Hotel, Morton's
at Flamingo and Paradise Rd., (near Terrible's Hotel and Casino) etc.

But, for a group of guys, you may want to go for go the moderate price
steak houses. You'll find them in the moderate price hotels Off-Strip.
In other words, just about every hotel has a steak house, but if it's a
higher end hotel, the steak house is higher end. If it's a moderate
price hotel Off-Strip, the you'll pay half the price or more for a
steak dinner.

In other words, at a moderate hotel, you'll be eating at one of the
moderate hotels' better restaurants. Meaning, to avoid the chance of
getting a tough steak, you'll want to stay away from ordering a steak
in a casino coffee shop or any hotel's more inexpensive reasturants.
etc.

"The Prime Rib Loft" ($25-$30 range) at The Orleans Hotel and Casino
gets consistently good reviews, as well as the prime rib restaurant at
South Point Hotel and Casino and the steak house at the Silverton Hotel
and Casino.

The Orleans is an easy cab ride of 1.5 miles from The Strip @ the
corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana. Or, as mentioned above, take
the shuttle from "Bill's" casino @ the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and
east Flamingo Rd. However, I'd recommend renting a car. Driving in
Vegas is fun and opens up all kinds of options; go where you want,
whenever, and do it fast and and easy with free valet parking (tip $2
when you pick-up the car) at every hotel. (with some exceptions
Downtown)

Personally, what I'd do is go to The Bootlegger rstaurant, which is
right off Las Vegas Blvd about five miles south from Mandalay Bay and
on the edge of the outlet shopping center (and right at the Blue
Diamond Rd. exit off Las Vegas Blvd leading to the Silverton Hotel and
Casino.)

The Bootlegger has great "Old Vegas" atmosphere and great Italian food
and for a very reasonable price. I can't go more than a few days
without pasta, and a good steak with a plate of linguine is making me
hungry just thinking about it.

Also, try Casa Di Amore restaurant on the north side of Tropicana (a
few miles east on Tropcana from the corner of Las Vegas Blvd) for a
similar "Old Vegas" experience with great food.

1) Where is the best steak for the price? I don't mind paying a bit for it
but I want a good one. Nothing would piss me off more then overpaying for
a piece of shoe leather.
The best steak for the price is at the Outback which is located across the
street from the Mirage-Caesars area. You can get a GOOD steak for less
than $30 there.
Post by charrison100
2) Best on strip hotel deal. We are there for 2 nights Sat the 28th and
Sun March 1. I have 6 guys so I need 3 rooms with 2 doubles in it. A suite
with 6 beds if that is cheaper. We decided to stay on the strip since we
are only there for 2 weeks and 4 of us are Vegas Virgins. I have been
looking at Cheap-o-Vegas and hotels.com but want to talk to the folks here.
You don't have to stay on the Strip to have good access to it. Both the
Orleans and the Gold Coast have reasonably priced rooms and a shuttle to
the strip that you'll never have to wait over 20 minutes for [except after
midnight when they make their last run for the day].It's only a 10 to 15
minute ride and they let you off across the street from the Bellagio and
Caesars at Bills Gambling Hall at Flamingo and the Las Vegas Strip. And
it's free [tips for the driver are more or less the norm although not
required, of course.]

These two places also have reasonably priced food which is important
because food prices have really gotten out of hand in Vegas.

I stayed at the Gold Coast during the WSOP for a week and had a great
time.As a matter of fact when we checked out they comped our room because
we played a little [very little] poker there during our stay and my buddy
played the slots one night.

The double bed rooms are OK for 2 people.I suggest you look them up on the
internet.

street from the Mirage-Caesars area. You can get a GOOD steak for less
than $30 there.
Fuck that. Go to Prime at Bellagio. You won't find one better anywhere.
What part of "for the price" do you not understand?

Thanks for the advice guys, I am going to have to go with eldo77 on this
one though. If i wanted the outback then I would go tongiht. Outback, Keg,
Canyon creek and Ruth's Chris are all chains. I find with chains that the
quality is lowered.

The price may be better as i am sure Prime is building something oin for
the location I am hoping the quality will be better. Like I said I don't
mind paying for quality.

I'd just hate to sit down to a $100 steak and get a shitty cut cooked
poorly.

The exception there might be Ruth's Chris (and possibly Morton's). Ruth's
Chris is pretty damned good even though it is a chain (I've eaten at them in
Denver, Dallas, D.C. and New Orleans).

Nothing? What part about it do you not understand? It doesn't mean the
cheapest steaks, it means the best for the price you pay. The ones at Prime
are expensive and I suspect best for the price you pay.

He just doesn't attach any value to the difference between "pretty good"
and "very good".

The double bed rooms are OK for 2 people.I suggest you look them up on the
internet.

While I would never suggest Outback for a steak place on a Vegas trip,
they do offer a selection of prime cuts in addition to their "denny's"
menu.

Binions has an excellent Steakhouse downtown. Believe it or not the Steak
House at Circus Circus (of all places) is one of the best in town for food
and value. It's won the "Locals Choice" award many years running. The
casino is a run-down dirty, nasty, kid-ridden piece of shit, but the
Steakhouse there is IMPRESSIVE. The "Range" at Harrahs is fantastic,
especially for the view.

Chris, you probably picked the WORST weekend of the first quarter of the
year for hotel pricing. That is NASCAR weekend. No matter how bad the
economy is, NASCAR, PRCA Rodeo, and PBR Finals weekends are ALWAYS booked.
Unless, of course, you will be going to the NASCAR Races, if so, I suggest
shuttle, rather than rental cars, as the traffic from the Strip and Downtown
to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is at a STANDSTILL on Saturday and Sunday.

Just the NASCAR teams alone take up over 5000 rooms, and that's before the
fans. LVMS still commands ticket prices twice as high as ANY other NASCAR
event (including the Daytona 500) and ALWAYS sells out. Hotel rooms, if
available (and may very well be, thanks to Obama, since 5 huge
conventions/Corp. meetings have cancelled in the past week or so) will be
TOP Dollar. BOOK NOW. Trust me.

I live in Centennial Hills, and have been to Green Valley area 3 times in
almost 3.5 years. Once to play poker, and the other two to take
friends/family from out of town on the Dam tour. I just don't get down to
that area.

I'm NORTH of the 215 off of N. Durango, so Green Valley is about as far as I
can go and still be in the Valley :)

Gosh Rick, I looked at that area recently, and checked out some homes on the
internet, there's some beautiful homes in that area for like $120K to $160K.
And I mean NICE homes. They're giving them away in Vegas, cheap cheap.

Have you been to Aliante Station yet? I went there for their opening.
Pretty nice!

Peg and I were going to go to Alliante the other night, but ended up going
to Texas Station, where I played live for the first time in about a year.
They have a very "interesting" game there. The only thing they're spreading
now is 2-6 spread limit Holdem with half kill to 3-9. You wouldn't think
this game would be profitable because the rake is $3+1, and they take the
Jackpot dollar at $10 along with the first $1 rake, then the other $2 at 20
and 30, but every pot was over $100. It was AMAZINGLY GOOD. It is a better
game than the 10-20 at Mirage, and MUCH MUCH better than the $1-2 NL with
capped buyins that have taken over the LV scene.

We'll be going to Alliante soon. Actually Peg has an interview there, and
I'll go with her when she goes for that and check it out. I've heard
nothing but GREAT things about it.

That's interesting about the 3-6 spread limit game at the Texas
Station, Rick.

That reminds me, the steak house at Texas Station, "Austin's", is
supposed to be one of the best, off strip. I haven't eaten there, but I
think they serve all USDA prime and it's, over all, more expensive than
other off strip steak houses; but it's still a bargin compared to The
Strip.
