After loans to Sevilla, Fiorentina and Anderlecht he's now been loaned out to
Trabzonspor. He's still under contract with Chelsea until 2017. If it continues
like that, Winston Bogarde will have been a better buy.

Blasphemy!

Ciao,

Chelsea ruined him! Possibly the German national team too.
If he had decided to play for Bosnia Herz. people would not even be
talking about Zvjezdan Misimović!

So who is this Winston Bogarde guy? I have never heard of a Winston
Bogarde Watch Update.

Even Anderlecht couldn't use him. Let that sink in.

I would have been a better buy. Free transfer and I would be willing to
sign for £5000 per week-

Just saw this come across the wire at Marko Marin Watch HQ. Nothing can
be confirmed, but we have reports stating "Marin to be jailed at Trump
Tower". We repeat, this is breaking news that can not be confirmed.

Yes, I would find it funny in an ironic sort of way.

As it turns out, the Marko Marin HQ news feed caught an article which
related to Jose Marie Marin going to jail and not Marko Marin.

Incredibly enough, the Greeks did the one thing that would be weirder than
hiring Felix and so their new national coach is called Michael Skibbe.

I happened to briefly watch Trabzon-Gala game a couple weeks ago when I was visiting an old friend and Marin looked like man of the match, but he was poor at the finishing end of the business. Still his dribbling seemed too much for Gala defenders.

The might Marin moves to Olympiakos. And, this is the real sensation, it's
not a loan! The Greeks have actually plonked down hard borrowed cash for him.

Been a busy week at the Marko Marin Watch Update HQ. Like a Phoenix, Marko has risen from the ashes. Yes, that is what the kikcer website actually said about him.

First Marko makes kicker magazine on a slideshow of what happened to the U-21 2009 champions-you know, the team with Neuer and Ozil and Hummels etc. What makes the photo on the slideshow better is that it is an action photo of Marko going up against the only other player that would make Marko look the giant of a man he is, Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco.

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/u21/startseite/629153/2/slideshow_die-europameister-von-2009_was-wurde-aus-den-u-21-helden.html

Then Marko makes the kicker list -as pointed out by Werner in another thread. With another great action photo of an older, yet nimble looking Marko.

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/intligen/startseite/680108/2/slideshow_kroos-thront-ueber-allen---oezils-absturz.html

Let me just say that we have the utmost respect for German team trainer Joachimm Loew, here at MMWHQ, but we can not believe how Marko was overlooked for the confed cup team, I mean come on, Emre Can was picked for that team!

Of course his personal website will give you all the info you need, that is if it has been updated?

He was playing in Turkey last year, I don't know how he did in the end or where he is now.

Just checked, he's in Greece, playing for Olympiacos. 4 goals 4 assists in 14 league goals.

I assume the owner has called them back from vacation to finish the season, at least Marko was called back. But called back only to be physically assaulted by a referee, no, I would say it far worse than assault, I would say this is a clear case of Murder in the first degree. You dont see him getting up, I can only assume he was trampled to death? What this so called referee (I would call him a homicidal maniac) did, would be like punching a new born infant. I will be surprised if he is ever able to play again. Sad end to the Marko Marin Watch RIP.

We are a little bit in limbo here at the MMWHQ. It would appear Marko is still under contract at Loympiakos, but is not on the team anymore. As reported here last season he was violently assaulted by a referee and also had the owner ban the team after they failed to win the league.

He is supposedly set to join Red Star in 2020, so yeah, he is in limbo right now. But, we have recently heard reports of him going to the MLS, stay tuned.

But has he played in the CL with all 10 of them?

And raises an interesting trivia question: which player has played in the CL (proper, excluding qualifiers) with the highest number of different clubs?

Zlatan would seem to be a good candidate with 7: Ajax(?), Juve, Virgins, Barca, Prostitutes, PSG, ManU(?). [Just checked: yes, all those teams are correct, including 16 minutes for ManU in 2017-2018. And his 13 appearances with Ajax in the 2002-2003 season are still the record for a single season]

I believe Zlatan's seven teams are indeed the record.

Anelka might be second with 6 (Arsenal, Real, PSG, Fenerbahçe, Chelsea, and
4 minutes for Juventus).

Morientes, Crespo and Eto'o have 5.

Only with Werder and Olympiacos.
Post by Futbolmetrix
And raises an interesting trivia question: which player has played in the CL
(proper, excluding qualifiers) with the highest number of different clubs?
Zlatan would seem to be a good candidate with 7: Ajax(?), Juve, Virgins,
Barca, Prostitutes, PSG, ManU(?). [Just checked: yes, all those teams are
correct, including 16 minutes for ManU in 2017-2018. And his 13 appearances
with Ajax in the 2002-2003 season are still the record for a single season]
I believe Zlatan's seven teams are indeed the record.
Anelka might be second with 6 (Arsenal, Real, PSG, Fenerbahçe, Chelsea, and
4 minutes for Juventus).
Morientes, Crespo and Eto'o have 5.
How many did Henrik Larsson appear for in the CL ? Looks like only 3
from what I can tell.

Ciao,

Lallana should be banned for life for that slide on Marko, that was a Marko Marin Watch ending tackle! Anyhow, serves the arrogant WWEpl team right to lose, playing their B team against the fricking great Marko Marin!
Also, not sure if this ref is Greek, but did not like his tone and behavior towards Marko, not one little bit. I think he should be banned for life as well.

As far as we know Marko has not transferred from Red Star, but we still have three weeks left in the window. What did draw our attention at the MMW is the transfer of Sebastian Abreu from Puerto Montt to Audax Italiano.

I dont want to take anything away from Seb and his record breaking 26 club, but come on, he is over 40 years old. I wont mention, OK I will, but all of Marko's clubs were real clubs, not retirement football clubs in the south of Chile. I get it , I could easily spend my Winters in Puerto Montt- But no, we are all about facts at MMW and he does have the record and for the record here are the 26 clubs he's played for:

Defensor (Uruguay), 1995–1996
San Lorenzo (Argentina), 1996-1998 and 2000-2001 (loan)
Deportivo La Coruna (Spain), 1998-2004
Gremio (Brazil), 1998 (loan)
Estudiantes Tecos (Mexico), 1999-2000 (loan) and 2004 (loan)
Club Nacional (Uruguay), 2001 (loan), 2004-2005, 2013-2015
Cruz Azul (Mexico), 2002-2003 (loan)
America (Mexico), 2003 (loan)
Dorados de Sinaloa (Mexico), 2005-2006
Monterrey (Mexico), 2006
San Luis (Mexico), 2007
Tigres UANL (Mexico), 2007
River Plate (Argentina), 2008 (loan) and 2008-2009
Beitar Jerusalem (Israel), 2008
Real Sociedad (Spain), 2009 (loan)
Aris Thessaloniki (Greece), 2009-2010
Botafogo Rio De Janeiro (Brazil), 2010-2012
Figueirense (Brazil), 2012 (loan)
Rosario Central (Argentina), 2013-2014 (loan)
SD Aucas (Ecuador), 2015 (loan)
Sol de America (Paraguay), 2016
Santa Tecla (El Salvador), 2016
Bangu Atletico Clube (Brazil), 2017
Central Espanol (Uruguay), 2017
Puerto Montt (Chile), 2017
Audax Club Sportivo Italiano (Chile), 2018

He's also represented Uruguay 70 times at international level, including at the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups in Japan/South Korea and South Africa respectively.

I dont want to take anything away from Seb and his record breaking 26 club,
I actually saw him play quite often with the Mustangs here in Calgary.
That was the last time we had a "professional" club here, in the old
A-league or whatever it had been re-christened at the time.

However, yet another try will be made this year with the new Canadian
Premier league. Seven teams (will that be lucky), including Cavalry FC
in Calgary. There is some connection with the Calgary foothills PDL team
that actually won the North American PDL championship last year. Tommy
Wheeldon Jr. who coached the PDL team, will coach the Cavalry.

Should add that Nic Ledgerwood, a much travelled former Canadian
international who played for the Calgary Storm (immediate predecessor of
the Mustangs) then in Germany, was part of the Foothills team and is on
the Cavalry roster.

He played for 1860, FSV Frankfurt, Wehen Wiesbaden, Hammarby, MSV
Duisburg, and Energie Cottbus during his European stint.

This is still too far away, they got lucky last year against Salzburg
and it was their first appearance in UCL after they won it in 1991.
Red Star is one of the symbols of Serbian nationalism which caused
a lot of pain recently and therefore not particularly liked in
the region.
I still regret PSG casual approach in their home match, could have
ended a lot worse than only 6 goals conceded.

I like to think we are up to date on all things Marko Marin, but watching UCL highlights, I feel we kinda are not pulling our weight at the MMW. Firstly, Marko Marin will be in the UCL as we correctly stated back in May. Red Star Yugoslavia beat Young Boys, no actually, away goals drew with them to advance, Marko getting the second assist, which would count in ice hockey-football will soon give two assists, it will start with the WWEpl-but even more importantly, Marko is the captain of Yugoslavia. we cant confirm he started the game as captain, but I am quite sure I saw a captain's armband on him when he created the away tieing goal that lead Yugoslavia to the UCL.

Not since Chairman Tito has Yugoslavia had a greater leader.

We dont get to see Marko on TV that much since he started playing in Belgrade, so today the UCL match vs Bayern is a big day for us MMW. Shout out to Kanadians as well, with Borjan starting in goal today.

I would like to say we will watch this game all the way through, regardless of whether Marko scores or not, but we can not make that promise with so many other interesting matches on today.

It is the new year and with the new year we have to have a Marko Marin update. Marko is now going to play in Saudi Arabia. Not sure if the article is insinuating he is a former German or a former soccer player?

https://www.en24.news/2020/01/former-international-marko-marin-moves-to-saudi-arabia.html

He was once considered a great talent and hope for the future, now he has the next club on his resume: Marko Marin changes the club again – and thus causes surprise.

Former German soccer player Marko Marin has moved from Red Star Belgrade to Saudi Arabia to Al-Ahli. As the club from Jeddah announced on Twitter on Sunday, the midfielder will sign a contract subject to a successful medical check.

The change of the 30-year-old triggered a big surprise in the Serbian capital. “Red Star sells its best player,” said the state broadcaster RTS. Marin switched to the previous European Cup winner in 2018 and developed into a leading player. This season he met Bayern Munich with his club in the group stage of the Champions League, both games were clearly lost.

Ok, it is winter and cold so the MMW were sitting around the campfire drinking maple syrup infused whiskey (it really does exist) and Guinness, while smoking White Widow cigarettes(the kind without the writing on the filter) and we got to wondering is Marko in the Guinness Book of World Records? Does the Guinness book of records even exist anymore? Is Guinness even an Irish name?

So after researching more about Guinness and its Irishness and the existence of a book of records, we discovered that we dont like stout beer, nor do we like maple syrup whiskey ( I think it is called Sorteliege). so we got some proper German Pilsner, Russian Vodka and Austrian Red Bull and decided to get to work and look into whether Marko is in the Guinness Book of World Records.

It did not take long for the MMW to open up a bottle of Cuban Rum to mix with our Cuban coffee (The MMW spends a lot of time in Cuba during the winter as we are all communists and old friends of the Castro family, so we have cases of Cuban Rum, coffee and cigars in our office most of the time) and to get the wheels in motion for the task at hand. We had barely got halfway through the rum when we discovered this would not end well. Some alleged player, from the alleged country of Uaregay has allegedly played for 26 alleged clubs in 11 alleged countries, allegedly.

Now we are still sticking with Marko as the record holder for most countries and teams played for until these alleged claims are proven to us, as we are all about facts at the MMW and not some kind of Trumpian, fake news making, alleged record book company of some alleged credibility of some alleged drunken alleged Irish alleged bar patrons.

Oh and I dont even like Cigars, what is the big deal, why do people pay twenty bucks for these things? Not crazy about the Cuban Dunhill cigs either, dont taste at all like the Euro Dunhills.

So as it stands in the real world, Marko has the record for most clubs and most countries played for.

We dont get to see Marko on TV that much since he started playing in
Belgrade, so today the UCL match vs Bayern is a big day for us MMW.
Shout out to Kanadians as well, with Borjan starting in goal today.
Strong match by Borjan.

And Davies on the bench.
So far limited chances for Marin. Coman heads Bayern in front on a
Perisic cross.
Marin close to make it 1-1, and then Lewandowski slides in the 2-0.
Bayern can now focus on tonight's match against Flamengo.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%BAlio_Maravilha
though the sheer number of clubs is impressive, he does not have the worldwide international playing clout of Marko.

I think Martin Odegard might be the heir apparent To Marko. I can see their being a MOW in the future.

Hey Losers, gettin out yet now that Covid is over and will never be a problem ever again. Yeah of course you haven't. I have, I been out licking door handles like a Paul Scholes with a door handle fetish. I even went to a bar in Maniwaki! I dont know, but after that 18 months layoff, going out seems more expensive now or do I just not remember, I mean I think 10 bucks for a beer is expensive, but maybe it always was 10 bucks? It is getting cold here though, brought in my big boat yesterday, put away summer stuff and will be replacing out the bottles of beer with Caribou.

Anyhow, no need to start a MOW.

So, just when you thought it was safe to close the MMW, news comes in he is now playing in Hungaria for Fradi, not to mention he had a transfer while in Saudi ( is it true that the sand shawarma heads bought the WWEPL? If so, be cool when they do public beheadings after WWEpl matches- lookin at you Ole and Ronaldo). Still time for Marko to play in the MLS, so the thread continues....

So, just when you thought it was safe to close the MMW, news comes
in he is now playing in Hungaria for Fradi
Today MM had his second start and, naturally, scored his first goal.

On the subject of legends, Bendter has been in court recently, after a
series of traffic violations. The end result was that the state seized
his Lordship's new Porsche.

The game winning, hugely important third goal of a 4-0 win for Fradi. In all honestly, the MMW is disappointed that Marko did not sign for Puskás Akadémia FC (yeah I know most of you have no idea who Puskas was) where they are paid with bottles of Tokaj-use to drink bottles of that stuff as an infant, crib was usually full of empty bottles, but that is all we had to drink back then, tough times...

We are already projecting Denmark to win the WC next winter, they really do have a good record in qualifying and the Euros, we still think Bendtner has a place in that team. Would not be surprised if the WWEpl sign him as pundit or at least the guy who chops the heads off the Man of the match (they are doing that now right?). I think that is how St Maximun became a saint at Newcastle?

The MMW does not believe the fake news stories, we are still expecting to hear of Marko ending up in MLS or China or somewhere next season.

We are looking at Max Meyer now replacing Marko Marin, saves us having to change our letterhead at the MMW.

Max Meyer in a team with Vágner Love. Is that really what the famous Midtjylland algorithm came up with?

Could be worse, he could be in a team with Jack Wilshere.

Any club would be delighted to extend their contract with the Serbian
league Player of the Year (as if it could have been anyone else).
Not that this means something special in a league which is even more
corrupted
than ours. It looks like Red Star and Partizan alternate
in who is being pushed depending on whose people are in power and now
it's Red Star's turn, I've seen some ridiculous calls in their favor
this year.

Latest scandal is about Serbian cup final which will be played
on 23rd (7pm CET for those interested in watching) between those 2
biggest rivals.
It was predetermined that final would be played in Niš, however

https://www.b92.net/sport/fudbal/vesti.php?yyyy=2019&mm=05&dd=17&nav_id=1543282
they decided to move match to Belgrade, apparently because of safety issues.
There was a draw in their FA and between 2 stadiums it turned out match
will be
played on Red Star stadium (called Rajko Mitic now), which of course raised
suspicions and immediately Partizan gave public announcement (there were
millions of those on both sides)
https://www.b92.net/sport/fudbal/vesti.php?yyyy=2019&mm=05&dd=17&nav_id=1543327
I'll just mention that is says here Partizan representative wasn't
present at the draw.

There is one funny comment:
https://www.b92.net/sport/komentari.php?nav_id=1543282#k30347640
"So, they were drawing balls. In one ball there was a note with name
'Red Star', in the other one note said: 'draw again'".

Oh, that's disappointing.

I was expecting him to have Benjamin Button powers.

Tchau!
