One of the world's largest banks says the planet is running out of resources
and warns that neither governments nor companies are prepared for climate
change.

The world spent its entire natural resource budget for the year by August 1, a
group of analysts at HSBC said in a note that cited research from the Global
Footprint Network (GFN).

That means that the world's citizens used up all the planet's resources for
the year in just seven months, according to GFN's analysis.

Actually, their estimates of "natural resources" is ill conceived and
biased. They use 7 arbitrary categories of which six are more or less in
equilibrium. The calculation for the seventh is so imprecise that a small
change in one single parameter can change the whole result. The whole
thing reminds the Club of Rome failed predictions.

What could possibly go wrong converting the billions in assets to cash and leaving it unguarded on the side of the road?

There's no reason to spend even one cent protecting billions of dollars in assets!

An even greater absurdity than bankers being part of the conspiraCEEE is the denier here appears outraged anyone is thoughtful enough to wonder "what could possibly go wrong?"

Anyone who has billions invested in the future would be penny wise pound stooped to not spend a few million looking for threats to the future, threats to their billions.

This is yet another reason why looneytarians are not functional enough to be considered capitalists.

A capitalist isn't penny wise pound foolish.

The world spent its entire natural resource budget for the year by August 1, a
group of analysts at HSBC said in a note that cited research from the Global
Footprint Network (GFN).
The problem is, the richest, the most powerful people
use up the most resources, and they are the people who
never suffer. So any reduction is going to come out of
the skin of the little people.

If, on the other hand, we let all the resources run
out, the rich will be as fucked up as the rest of us,
perhaps even more so. It's likely that the rich will
be the first into the pot when cannibalism takes over.

So, guess which scenario that I favor? The one where
the people with the least money, least power and least
responsibility for the problem do all the suffering,
or the one were everyone suffers, the rich & powerful
perhaps more so than the rest?

Guess which one I favor?

The earth is not running out of /resources/. For example, petroleum was
not a resource for any animal species and became (tremendously) useful
for humanity only in 1859. When the petroleum era will be over, there
will still be coal and natural gas. That will leave time for humanity to
devise new sources of energy, such a nuclear fusion.

A video on how 80% of humanity escaped premature death and hunger during
just the last two decades.

Ive had similar arguments -- not the same topic or
arguments, but similar -- with fake "Liberals" over
illegal aliens. They would talk about what would
happen to food prices without exploiting illegals to
pick the crops (Their benevolence knows no bounds)
and I would point out that, yes, some crops would
become prohibitively expensive, but others are quite
amenable to mechanical harvesting. So, maybe your
SELECTION would change but the result might actually
be CHEAPER, not more expensive, food.

DIFFERENT crops, not more expensive crops...

If we run out of a particular resource it very likely
would mean that we can't do/buy/use certain things
we used to be able to do/buy/use. But, something else
will come along. Our lives won't end, they will change.

EVERYTHING comes at a price. Everything we do, everything
we don't do. Besides the fake science and all the
brainwashing, another way you can tell that the "Global
Warming" idiocy is pure bunk is that there is never ever
a discussion concerning the negative consequences stemming
from "Alternatives" -- "The Price of" alternatives. In
fact, just introducing negative consequences is enough to
get one branded as a oil company loving, Trump Administration
following denier of a climate.

The reality is far worse than this as the reckless overpopulation of the planet is destroying a majority of the ecosystems that have sustained life on the planet for more than 300 million years - This cannot and will not continue as the planet will shortly return to the sludge ball it was 2.0 billion years ago . There should not be more than a million people on the planet ! DESMODUS (in fact some think th eonly safe number is zero )

That means that the world's citizens used up all the planet's resources for
the year in just seven months, according to GFN's analysis.

exaggeration.

Okay.
Lead off by reducing the Earths population by one.
Put your mortality where your mouth is

Time for measures to slow the growth of the number of world's citizens then.

Tying foreign aid and trade to birth control measures in those countries. Do
you think the world's population can continue to grow as it has without using
additional scarce resources?

Uninformed as usual?

"industrial countries remain responsible for the bulk of the world’s resource
consumption—as well as the associated global environmental degradation."

"Governments could rein in high consumption by removing economic subsidies for
everything from gas-guzzling vehicles to suburban homebuilding—which total
around $1 trillion globally each year."

Even supposing that the green activists' seven indicator are
representative of the condition of the world's environment (and they
aren't), six of them are at equilibrium. The seventh is about energy.

Worthless personal opinion refuted by the cite above.

Are you saying that continued population growth is irrelevant then?

I'm obviously saying that "Tying foreign aid and trade to birth control
measures in those countries" is uninformed bullshit. Polluting the oceans
isn't the same thing as "the world's citizens used up all the planet's
resources for the year in just seven months", is it.
