Just announced: NBC's Today Show Anchor Matt Lauer has been terminated for inappropriate workplace behavior. (Guess he has now joined the ranks of the other media/entertainer/politician Bad Boys.)

I'm guessing NBC may not be too unhappy about finding a reason to fire him.

As Chairman of The Savannah Guthrie Admiration (and Fantasizing) Society--and in fact its sole director and the entirety of the membership; we're an extremely exclusive organization--it seems clear to me there is only one move NBC News can make at this point to restore the public trust in what I continue to--seriously!--contend is the finest-produced live broadcast anywhere on the television airwaves is to fill Lauer's vacated chair with a beloved figure who for four years once responsibly and entertainly occupied it: J. Fred Muggs.

Presuming, of course, Muggs's longtime arm-candy Phoebe B. Bebee isn't at this moment working on an upcoming expose with The New York Times.

Any word yet on a successor to Lauer? My guess is they will get Brian Williams to fill in until they find a replacement, and I imagine they will do a deep background search on their candidates to make sure there are no skeletons in the closet.

No chance. It hasn't been long enough yet for Williams to beam back to
the mothership.

Yes. I think Lauer's replacement will be Willie Geist, just as I think
Charlie Rose's replacement will be Anthony Mason. Both are fill-ins,
both know their shows, and (I presume) both will have been vetted
thoroughly before any big announcements by their networks.

Another candidate for the Today Show host seat is apparently Thomas Roberts, former HLN and MSNBC anchor, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Willie Geist. They've been grooming him for the job for years.

There are no men on the Today Show
I'm certain Al Roker is sad to learn he's not a man as are all the other
men working on the show.

(You will now tell me that Al Roker and the others don't count for some
reason. I may or may not point out the fallacies underlying your
reasoning. That depends on whether doing so will be more fun than
housework.)

At least Matt Lauer never crapped his pants at the White House:
