The AP is reporting that Peter Hume, who played "The Stomach" in the
1979 movie "Meatballs" has died.

Keith Knight, who played "Fink" died August 22.

Both of the actors in the hot dog eating scene died just over two
months apart...

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (AP) ‹ Peter Hume, a Canadian national wrestling
champion in the 1970s who had a bit part in the movie "Meatballs,"
has
died after he was stricken at his home. He was 54.
The 6-foot-6-inch Hume weighed more than 400 pounds when he died
Tuesday, the Saratoga County coroner said. The corner did not
elaborate
on the cause of death.
Hume was the national university wrestling champion for the 1977-78
season in the super heavyweight division for Wilfrid Laurier
University
in Waterloo, Ontario. He also played football there.
Hume appeared in the 1979 Bill Murray comedy "Meatballs," which was
filmed in Canada. He played a character called "The Stomach."

The coroner didn't have to elaborate. I'm surprised that he lasted as long
as he did at 400 lb.

This site has a video clip with both Keith Knight now (well, not NOW,
but recently) and then and the Hot Dog scene with Peter Hume:

Peter was one of my dad's best friends , I knew him my whole life , first he wasn't 6ft6 , in his prime including in Meatballs he was 6ft9 , near the end maybe 6ft6 but that's because of his back and knee problems. He was quite heavy but he did loose some weight in his last year's about 100 pounds , he would still be alive today if he went to the doctors instead of going to a Ohio state buckeyes game , he died of walking pneumonia , he basicaly drowned in his sleep because his lungs filled up with fluid , he went peacefully. He was a great man , I miss him dearly , we had a cottage on the same lake as well wich is why we got to know him even more , he would always drive around in his pontoon boat always with people having some brews enjoying the sun , and his lovely wife Carzy.

Mr. Hume was my social studies teacher in high school. I just saw a trailer of the meatballs movie on Facebook and remembered him telling us he was in that movie when we were in class. So I shared on my page about it and looked him up on the cast and crew page. I noticed it said he passed away. I am so sorry for all his family and friends loss. I know it’s many years later but still the same. I know there is not one day family and friends don’t think about him.
