A highly respected lifelong Republican, proud of his party, writes
that the abuse of Robert Mueller are the antithesis of Republican party
values and the rule of law.

He believes Mueller must put all applicable evidence before an
impartial grand jury that will decide whether to bring charges.
We must let him do his job.

I think the key purpose of the investigation is to provide a rationale
for Democrats criticizing Trump. If they actually had anything
substantial on Trump, they should have found it by now. It's been
running for over a year and who knows how many millions of dollars and
thousands of man-hours they've already put into it. I think this is
almost entirely about embarrassing Trump and undermine him going into
midterms so they can hope to retake the House. (Nobody seems to think
they'll get the Senate.) In other words, this is about political
advantage for the Democrats, not finding actual crimes by the President.

The key purpose of the investigation is to find out whether people
involved in Trump's campaign colluded with the Russians during the 2016
election. The time and money spent on investigation was irrelevant
when it was Whitewater or Benghazi or Hillary's emails. I think we
have the obligation to find out what happened in 2016, even if you and
some others don't want us to because it'd be politically embarrassing.
In fact, let's see:

Whitewater
Length of investigation: 6 years
Indictments: 0
Convictions: 0

Benghazi
Length of investigation: 4 years
Indictments: 0
Convictions: 0

Hillary's Emails
Length of investigation: 2 years
Indictments: 0
Convictions: 0

Trump Campaign/Russia
Length of investigation: 1 year and counting
Indictments: 19
Convictions: 4
Guilty Pleas: 5

The thing is... if you only watch Fox News and read right-wing websites,
YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING about what Mueller is finding.

They aren't telling people like Rhino, who don't get their news from
anything but these outlets.
It's criminal... or should be.

Hear hear.

History tells us the wheels grind slowly. More than a year passed after
Nixon's White House "plumbers" broke into Daniel Ellsberg's
psychiatrist's office before they were indicted. Another eight months
went by before a special prosecutor was appointed. Another ten months
would go by before Nixon's close aides were indicted. Another two
months for the House Judiciary Committee to start impeachment hearings.
Another two months for Congress to actually start the process of
impeachment.

Mueller's been at it about a year, and it's a pretty complex
investigation with lots of moving parts. He's produced solid
indictments. Experts say he has a "paper case" against Manafort on
multiple counts. These things take time. Let Mueller do his job.

I think it's entirely possible that not enough evidence can be found
against Trump to bring him to trial but any number of people close to
Trump will be.

What the fuck do you think 17 indictments and 5 guilty pleas is?
There are mounds of evidence that Mueller has uncovered.

Get your head out of your ass.

Do it now... because when the report comes out, you don't want to look
even stupider than you already do.

Sure, (nearly) every Democratic campaign will seize the political
opportunity here, what else is new. But infiltration by Russia is a
serious enough matter that any hint of smoke (and there's plenty) should
be pursued to its logical exhaustion. Moreover, if Trump's not
complicit, you'd think he'd *want* to know who in his circle is.

Why did repub leaders: Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan call for this investigation against Trump in the first place, then?

This investigation was started by Republicans, is headed by Republicans,
and is overseen by Republicans.

So how is this a Democrat plot again?
