Post by Peter JasonIs there any way to replace the remotes that are faulty.
The accepted method is to *buy one*.
Post by Peter JasonHoe can one determine if it's the TV or remote?
Usually by testing. In the case of the one I replaced, a visual check
was sufficient. The Mrs sat on it and I don't think the bend it has was
a natural one. Electrically it still works so I keep it on hand. A new
remote is an easy and, dare I say, very cheap fix compared to buying the
OEM remote. Those OEM remotes are usually $100+.
Post by Peter JasonIs there a universal remote that will work for Sony and Panasonic?
There are heaps of universal *programmable* remotes out there.
As previously stated, you do need to *buy* these.
I bought a pair (because they were cheap) of Logitech Harmony 350
remotes and they programmed up to my German TV with no issues.
Here's how it's done; https://support.myharmony.com/en-au/350
Look on EBay for pricing. Usually sub $50. As low as $42 with free
postage. Hey, at that price it's worth buying one just to have a spare.
That's why I bought two. One for the Mrs and one for me so I can sneak
up behind her and change the channel when she's not concentrating on the
TV. ;-)
