The Associated Press and others confirm the death of King Michael of
Romania, who reigned twice in his father's lifetime and never after his
father's death...his father had been bypassed when Michael was first
enthroned, then got himself installed anyway, then abdicated as World War
II got underway.

King Michael helped oust a Nazi-sympathizing government in 1944,but
the Soviets came in,installed Communists, and had him pushed out in
1947 (an extorted abdication). He had five daughters and the laws did
not allow reigning queens...he considered his eldest daughter (an
ex-girlfriend of former British Prime Minister) his heir.

He was one of the longest-lived Kings ever recorded, but had not
reigned since he was 26.

Last adult.
Simeon II of Bulgaria (born 1937) inherited the Bulgarian throne in 1943.

The country was led by a regency. He was less than 2 years old. Give me a break. He didn’t act as head of state.
