It probably was years ago but I think I remember you mentioning a
detective novel featuring an accountant.

Clark Smith's daughter has just lent me the three Nicky Mahoun
accountant detective stories that were published by Penguin in the 50s:
are these the novels you meant?

Bank Audit" by Bruce Marshall but I have been meaning to track down
Clark Smith's books since reading this academic paper about them, which
