Amazon ‘Reviewing Options’ On TWC TV Series Amid Harvey Weinstein
Scandal
by Nellie Andreeva

As Harvey Weinstein’s free fall from grace continues with numerous new
allegations of sexual misconduct surfacing every day, the involvement
of his now-former company The Weinstein Company in two high-profile
and expensive new Amazon series, Matthew Weiner’s The Romanoffs and a
David O.Russell untitled drama starring Robert De Niro and Julianne
Moore, may be in jeopardy.

Rumors about Amazon eying potential partying of the ways with TWC
altogether and the David O. Russell series being in danger surfaced
yesterday when the streaming company would not confirm them. That has
since changed as the accusations against Weinstein escalated to sexual
assault with the second devastating expose in five days, this time in
The New Yorker.

“We are reviewing our options for the projects we have with the
Weinstein Co.,” Craig Berman, VP communications at Amazon
Entertainment, said in a statement.

At this point, the more damning storyline is that the rest of the
Weinstein Company execs knew about all this stuff long before now. If
the whole place is guilty of being complicit (rather than simply
oblivious), then I don't see any likely outcome other than for everyone
in Hollywood to now cancel all contracts with The Weinstein Company,
drive them out of business, and then free up the various projects to
eventually be picked up by other studios.

On "Marketplace" last night one of the possibilities put forward is that
TWC will probably be acquired by some other studio.

I bet lots of people knew about him! Stuff like this does not keep
secret for very long. But many people won't challenge a major
player like he *was* until this story broke.

Did you see that obnoxious little bitch Alyssa Milano's press release on
the subject? She knew about it all along but kept her mouth shut
because she's known his (very young - her words) kids all their lives
(if they're that young, it can't be that much of an investment!) and
then NAMES THEM. So why is it okay *now*? What does this possibly
accomplish but get your name in the paper?

I'm guessing that she was getting pushed for a response, just as so many
others are getting pushed to respond. There is a huge witch hunt right
now trying to force everyone to go on record. Well, actually there are
two witch hunts. Witch hunt #1 is from the left, trying to claim that
everyone who doesn't go on record condemning these acts is actually
supporting them and as such should be lynched as well. Witch hunt #2 is
from the right, trying to claim that there is some sort of double
standard where people like Weinstein are given a free pass while people
like Ailes, O'Reilly, and Trump are raked over the coals.

No idea other than maybe to reaffirm her closeness to them. The kid's
identities aren't secret, so I don't see this as a foul so much as a
faux pas.

Hey, the Google hits for Weinstein are all "wife is leaving him"

Okay, from The Wiki:

In 2007, he married English fashion designer and actress Georgina

At this point, the more damning storyline is that the rest of the

If
the whole place is guilty of being complicit (rather than simply
oblivious), then I don't see any likely outcome other than for everyone
in Hollywood to now cancel all contracts with The Weinstein Company,
drive them out of business, and then free up the various projects to
eventually be picked up by other studios.
Except everybody in Hollywood works this way.
...and lots of other industries as well. I expect that women will

and in Hollywood people on both sides will continue to pretend that 'the

Did you see that obnoxious little bitch Alyssa Milano's press release on
the subject? She knew about it all along but kept her mouth shut
because she's known his (very young - her words) kids all their lives

Seriously, though, I can understand why Alyssa Milano would not lead the
charge to out Harvey Weinstein if that is not what his wife (her friend
and coworker) wanted.
Yes, but what's the point of jumping on the band wagon *now* as opposed
to, you know, just keeping your damned mouth shut?
And she named his kids because?
Because she's known them all their lives, of course!
Christ, now I'm going to have to look up their ages.
Hey, the Google hits for Weinstein are all "wife is leaving him"
In 2007, he married English fashion designer and actress Georgina
Chapman.[46] They have a daughter, India Pearl (born 2010)[47] and a
son, Dashiell[48] (born 2013)
Okay, well, nice to know they're old enough to not need therapy for the
rest of the lives. /sarcasm

Heck, Alyssa may have known them "all their lives" but I'll bet you a
Quatloo Dashiell has no idea who _she_ is. Or cares.

Or cares.
She apparently has kids the same age. Kids she doesn't name.

Amazon ‘Reviewing Options’ On TWC TV Series Amid Harvey
Weinstein
Scandal
by Nellie Andreeva
As Harvey Weinstein’s free fall from grace continues with
numerous new
allegations of sexual misconduct surfacing every day,
At this point, the more damning storyline is that the rest of the
Weinstein Company execs knew about all this stuff long before now. If
the whole place is guilty of being complicit (rather than simply
oblivious), then I don't see any likely outcome other than for everyone
in Hollywood to now cancel all contracts with The Weinstein Company,
drive them out of business, and then free up the various projects to
eventually be picked up by other studios.
Except everybody in Hollywood works this way.
...and lots of other industries as well. I expect that women will
continue to complain and men will continue to deny off and on forever
and in Hollywood people on both sides will continue to pretend that 'the
casting couch' has now been eradicated...until the next wave of
complaints hits the front page.

Seriously, though, I can understand why Alyssa Milano would not lead the
charge to out Harvey Weinstein if that is not what his wife (her friend
and coworker) wanted.
Yes, but what's the point of jumping on the band wagon *now* as opposed
to, you know, just keeping your damned mouth shut?
Everyone eventually gets whats coming to them and in Harvey
Weinsteins case he is in process of being neutered in public.

Because she wants to be a "hero" who will speak out. Um, after the horse
is gone and the barn is burning to the ground. Or something.

My fave is Rose McGowan, who is calling out Matt Damon on Twitter for
supposedly being a "spineless profiteer" despite the fact that she
herself is on record for having accepted $100K in hush money -- oh,
wait, I mean "settlement" -- back in 1997. Oddly enough, she didn't
speak up for 20 years. I guess the money is gone at this point, or
something.

I'm not making any excuses for Weinstein, of course, because there are
none. The man is apparently a pig. But with regard to those who are
self-identifying as victims now, where was their concern for other
potential *future* victims during all of the months and years during
which they remained silent? Go to the cops. Go to the D.A. Heck, if
nothing else, go to the tabloids or something along those lines. But get
the story out there!

we see the press being used to pressure politicians to donate the

It amazes me how much of an open secret it apparently was yet you
still have people claiming to have had no idea. Especially when you
have people at the company like the Board of Directors saying they had
no idea of what he was doing when someone behaving as he did on that
tape would have had no problem with anyone knowing of his actions.

Someone listened *this* time. Someone would have listened the last time.
And the time before. Again, there are at least several good sources to
turn to to get this sort of story out there. And if there's not already
an anonymous tipline for this sort of thing in a place like Hollywood,
then there should be. And I'm not saying that every single claim should
be investigated and every single accused person outed in some sort of
guilty-until-proven-innocent sort of way. But someone like Weinstein
whose name *should have* come up time and time and time again? Yeah,
those are the ones that a tipline could help to stop. Or, again, the
cops. Or the D.A.'s office.

I agree, but I don't know the details beyond the fact that McGowan is a
shameless and flaming hypocrite. Here's the article I saw yesterday:

http://www.eonline.com/news/885839/rose-mcgowan-calls-out-matt-damon-russell-crowe-ben-and-casey-affleck-in-latest-harvey-weinstein-tweets
or http://tinyurl.com/y8bd8qsh

and the bit at the beginning that made my jaw drop:

QUOTE
Rose McGowan wants Hollywood's A-list actors to speak up.
Last week, the New York Times published an exposé on Harvey Weinstein
about his years and years of alleged misconduct. McGowan was mentioned
in the exposé for a $100,000 settlement she reached in 1997 with the
movie producer. In response to the article, one of Weinstein's attorneys
Charles J. Harder told E! News last week that the article was "saturated
with false and defamatory statements." However, just days after the
article was published, Weinstein was terminated from The Weinstein company.
McGowan has been very vocal on Twitter about Hollywood speaking up about
Weinstein and his alleged misconduct.
END QUOTE

So she wants others to do what she refused to do for 20 years. But I
guess it's different when *she's* the one clamming up. And apparently
it's okay for her to be an enabler since she was a victim first? Is that
how this sort of sick thing is supposed to work?

I don't follow show biz names closely, but even I've heard the
occasional snarky comment aimed at Weinstein over the years. For
innocent bystanders, it might be a case of not realizing just how
pervasive the problem really was. But for *some* people, they knew the
full extent and said nothing about it. Did nothing about it. And now,
many of them want to try to recast themselves as things like "heroes"
and "voices for the victims" when they're really just playing CYA and
trying to cash in on events and/or get their names out there for
publicity purposes. I really can't think of any other -- any *noble* --
reason for them to stay quiet for so long and only come out *now*.

McGowan has been very vocal on Twitter about Hollywood speaking up about
Weinstein and his alleged misconduct.

So she wants others to do what she refused to do for 20 years. But I
guess it's different when *she's* the one clamming up. And apparently
it's okay for her to be an enabler since she was a victim first? Is that
how this sort of sick thing is supposed to work?
I think its probably more "If you people had spoken up before I got
abused I wouldn't have gotten abused and had to live with the secret
shame of it for the last XX years!" There's not a lot of rationality to
it and the non-disclosure clauses of settlements just makes it worse as
it effectively _makes_ it a crime to speak out about it. McGowan (and
others) are only speaking out now because they think they can avoid
being sued by Weinstein for breaking the contract since so the money he
paid them with wasn't his, it was the company's. (THAT'S what got him
fired from TWC, not being a sexual predator.)

I guess the money is gone at this point, or
something.
Is this another case of someone taking a settlement and signing a
non-disclosure agreement and then talking anyway?  People like that
should be at the front of the line paying their money back (plus
penalty) or at the very least donating the money to charity.  Instead,
we see the press being used to pressure politicians to donate the
political contributions from this 'tainted' source.
I agree, but I don't know the details beyond the fact that McGowan is a

Rose McGowan wants Hollywood's A-list actors to speak up.
Last week, the New York Times published an exposé on Harvey Weinstein
about his years and years of alleged misconduct. McGowan was mentioned
in the exposé for a $100,000 settlement she reached in 1997 with the
movie producer. In response to the article, one of Weinstein's attorneys
Charles J. Harder told E! News last week that the article was "saturated

Pot, kettle, etc. Unless she was the very *first* victim, in which case
she's partly responsible for every other victim out there.

There's not a lot of rationality to

But it's conveniently self-serving. And, for McGowan, at least, profitable.

No one forces anyone to sign one of those. She did it voluntarily,
presumably because she placed more value on the $100K than on the safety
of future potential victims of a predator.

Good point. These things should include language stating that the
disgusting act perpetrated by X is copyright material. Descriptions
of which may not be discussed, written, or transmitted in any media of
communication without the express permission of X, violations of which
are subject to 20 years in prison. Include the FBI warning slide.

I agree, but I don't know the details beyond the fact that McGowan is a
shameless and flaming hypocrite.
A serious question: Do we know what happened to Rose? I'm not paying
much attention to this stuff, and a lot of it is just weird like "he
made her watch him take a shower" - what constitutes a $100k payout?

I have no idea.

On a related note, she's run afoul of Twitter's terms of use and has had
limits placed on her account until she deletes the problematic posts.
Presumably, those would be the ones where she stalks others and accuses
them by name of things that she can't prove and generally acts like some
horrid combination of lunatic and beeyatch. And of course she and her
brain-dead supporters are making her out to be a victim as well as a
hero on that account. Idiots.

tell her *which* tweets are the problem!

Maybe the 12 hour countdown isn't a 'time out', but rather a time to
comply before the account is terminated?

I suppose that there are legal/logistical reasons for Twitter not to
want to be personally involved in editing people's postings, but yes, it
seems like removing the entire account from public view until the
offending post is removed makes more sense than letting it remain
visible for 12 hours and hoping that the poster fixes the problem on
their own.

No, it's a time out. I read the message from The Twitter. They started

I clicked and failed to learn more.

The current story is, she removed the phone number, and they reinstated
her.

I also blocked a whole pile of celebrities supporting her by sending
almost identical tweets saying "how dare you block Rose and let Trump
tweet?" almost as if they were slightly personalizing a pre-prepared
statement.

I then stepped through a click bait of 20 pages of 20 women detailing
their Weinstein stories. Two of them - Rose (who it said what happened
to was unknown) and Asia Argento seem to have actually had some sort of
sexual contact (forced oral sex; think Fallon and the chauffeur last
night on Die Nasty). Another gave him a massage but no more. Several
said he tried to massage their shoulders or kiss them and they left.
Most of them said they were creeped out by him answering the door in his
bathrobe. Nobody said he promised them a job for sex, but several said
'the subtext was clear' almost as if they were slightly personalizing a
pre-prepared statement.

So we have:
1) Who the Hell knows what happened to her, Rose
1) The guy needs to go to jail, Asia
1) She told the cops he copped (hah) a feel but couldn't get him to do
it again when she was undercover wearing a wire (underwire joke here)
1) I gave him a massage and when he tried to move my hand to his XXXX I
left
and 16) this guy is a creep but nothing happened

"answering the door in his bathrobe" sounds like it would be the proper
response to "what did Ben Afflack say he told the guy to stop doing"?

Twitter would have done for sure in that case. Still, I have to think
that her account would have moved from 12 hour time out to the circular

I've seen people complain about trump still having access to Twitter.
these people are idiots. Twitter is allowing the general public to peek
into the mind of this President...what could be more important at this
point than that?

Side note: Colbert made a joke last night about how Trump cannot be put
in a timeout because there are no corners in the Oval office.

The bathrobe and tub thing is very much sounding like he has some
fantasy about being Hugh Hefner. I'm still amazed at how many people
believe that Hefner was some virile man bedding lots of bunnies rather
than some pathetic man who paid women huge sums of money to say that
they had been with him.

almost identical tweets saying "how dare you block Rose and let Trump
tweet?" almost as if they were slightly personalizing a pre-prepared
statement.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Gloria Allred has talked to
most/all of these women.
Yah. Or they were all interviewed by the same person and some prompting
was going on.

1) She told the cops he copped (hah) a feel but couldn't get him to do

Okay, again, this is all so badly written I'm not sure which way the

"answering the door in his bathrobe" sounds like it would be the proper
response to "what did Ben Afflack say he told the guy to stop doing"?
The bathrobe and tub thing is very much sounding like he has some
fantasy about being Hugh Hefner. I'm still amazed at how many people
believe that Hefner was some virile man bedding lots of bunnies rather
than some pathetic man who paid women huge sums of money to say that
they had been with him.
It was probably both; the former in earlier years and the latter later.
He never made a secret about needing viagra.

I have this suspicion that Harvey liked that it was an open secret. As
long as it was just stories about all the women he had bedded, it made
him look more powerful and a great lover. But at the same time he had
to suppress any confirm-able incidents that might get him charged with a
crime or publicly sued for massive amounts of money, so he had to go
after any one he actually had propositioned if they looked like they
were going to talk.

So bedding a fictional slut or vague stories were safe, but you don't
dare use the name of a real person.

:UNQUOTE
And just like that, Lorne Michaels's decision to pull the Weinstein
jokes from last weekend's SNL looks even more pathetic than it already did.
As does MacFarlane bragging about his pathetic offering.
Which still doesn't sound like bragging and was more direct and to the
point than either of the above two 30 ROCK jokes.
The bit about the 30 ROCK jokes that is amazing to me is that they are
part of a scripted (and so vetted by lawyers, presumably) show rather
than the live event where Seth McFarlane snuck his jab in.
But if they *knew* that Harvey was guilty a hundred times over, then
what's Harvey going to do? If he threatened to sue, then that might just
be when those facing his lawsuit decided to stop looking the other way
in a nudge-nudge-wink-wink sort of way and recruit past victims to back
them and their fact-based jokes. In short, Harvey had to know that any
threats to sue could lead to his house of cards collapsing in a hurry.

2 different women.  The one that he forced to allow him to have
oral sex
on her apparently continued a relationship with him for some time
afterwards.  there is a different woman claiming that he forced her to
give him a blow job.
Multiple women are reporting that he exposed himself to them and
masturbated in front of them.  Many more apparently were able to run
away before he could go that far.
Side note:  Tonight's episode of GREAT NEWS will apparently feature a

Yeah, lawyers are notoriously risk-averse, but they would have had
bosses to overrule them in this case. I'd make sure that I had my
supporting evidence in written and notarized form first, though!

I agree, but I don't know the details beyond the fact that McGowan
is a shameless and flaming hypocrite.
Idiots.
Yeah, I saw all this this morning, somebody else I follow retweeted it.
The notifications are hilarious. The Twitter told Rose she's got a 12
hour time out, unless she removes the offending tweets. But they won't
tell her *which* tweets are the problem!
The offending tweet was that she included a phone number. Once she
removed that tweet, her account was 'unlocked'.
So Twitter will allow a Tweet exposing private information like that to
stay up, and puts the onus on the user to take it down? What if the user
just says, "Fuck it, I'm done with Twitter" and walks away? Does that
Tweet stay up forever?
You should dial 1-800-Who-the-Fuck-Cares to find out.

She definitely needs to grasp the fact that she's not bulletproof. If it
was a private phone number for someone she deems to be a guilty enabler,
or some such thing, then I hope that she gets sued over it. And I can't
see why Twitter would suspend her account for posting a public phone
number for, say, a local restaurant.

The Twitter rules are about private and confidential information:

"non-public, personal phone numbers"

are prohibited.

And it says right in the rules "we may ask someone to remove the
offending Tweet before they can Tweet again"

At this point, it would seem that she's left herself in a vulnerable

Update: Twitter has unlocked McGowan’s account after she removed a tweet
containing a private phone number. Shortly before noon, the Twitter
Safety account tweeted that it had been in contact with McGowan’s
representatives and said, “We want to explain that her account was
temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone
number, which violates our Terms of Service.”

Amazon ᛃâ€sÂ¬ÃÐųReviewing Optionsᛃâ€sÂ¬Ã¢â€zÂ¢ On TWC
TV Series Amid Harvey
Weinstein
Scandal
by Nellie Andreeva
As Harvey Weinsteinᛃâ€sÂ¬Ã¢â€zÂ¢s free fall from grace
continues with
numerous new
allegations of sexual misconduct surfacing every day,
At this point, the more damning storyline is that the rest of the
Weinstein Company execs knew about all this stuff long before now. If
the whole place is guilty of being complicit (rather than simply
oblivious), then I don't see any likely outcome other than for everyone
in Hollywood to now cancel all contracts with The Weinstein Company,
drive them out of business, and then free up the various projects to
eventually be picked up by other studios.
What does this possibly
accomplish but get your name in the paper?
https://moviepilot.com/p/shannen-doherty-says-no-charmed-revival/4385617
And the second most widely named Weinstein 'victim' is Rose McGowan.
Post by Obveeus
Seriously, though, I can understand why Alyssa Milano would not lead the
charge to out Harvey Weinstein if that is not what his wife (her friend
and coworker) wanted.
Yes, but what's the point of jumping on the band wagon *now* as opposed
to, you know, just keeping your damned mouth shut?
So does Rose have to give the money back? Or should she go to jail as
being part of a criminal conspiracy to cover up after the fact? Or both?

It isn't just men towards women. Some 30 years ago my wife was hired
to do deliveries for a printing company and quickly found out that her
supervisor had tried to get the job for her (female) lover and devoted
her days to getting her to quit in order to get the "right person"
hired. My wife did eventually quit but only started looking for
another job after she heard from her supervisor that her lover had
gotten another job elsewhere.

She then gave her notice (having applied and been accepted to enter
university as a mature student) and a couple years later met me.

Amazon ‘Reviewing Options’ On TWC TV Series Amid Harvey Weinstein

As Harvey Weinstein’s free fall from grace continues with numerous new

of his now-former company The Weinstein Company in two high-profile
and expensive new Amazon series, Matthew Weiner’s The Romanoffs and a
David O.Russell untitled drama starring Robert De Niro and Julianne

Rumors about Amazon eying potential partying of the ways with TWC

yesterday when the streaming company would not confirm them. That has
since changed as the accusations against Weinstein escalated to sexual
assault with the second devastating expose in five days, this time in

Real purges - as in the kind Stalin conducted - *did* punish even the
family and relatives of those deemed guilty of disloyalty to the state.
There was actually a section of the Criminal Code that specified what
punishments befell spouses, children, in-laws, parents, etc. of
convicted Enemies of the State.

Now that's just silly! Weinstein may indeed be suffering a well-deserved
fall from grace but I don't see why it should taint everything he's ever
had his name on. The writers, actors, and crews didn't commit sexual
assaults on anyone (that we know of) and may even be Weinstein's victims
in some way; why should THEY be punished by having all their hard work
discarded simply due to Weinstein's sins?

Remember when Janeway murdered a bunch of her crew (yeah, yeah) because

allow the use of any of the advanced medical knowledge they'd stumbled
upon that would keep her crew alive because it was all fruit of the
poisonous tree? Seriously, phaser the bitch to ash.

Rumors about Amazon eying potential partying

of the ways with TWC
altogether and the David O.
Remember when Janeway murdered a bunch of her crew (yeah, yeah) because
she didn't like some (clearly a Nazi) researcher, so she refused to
allow the use of any of the advanced medical knowledge they'd stumbled
upon that would keep her crew alive because it was all fruit of the
poisonous tree? Seriously, phaser the bitch to ash.
I know that some of the research done on captives of the Nazis involved
seeing how much exposure they could take to cold seawater, which was
clearly aimed at improving survival rates of German pilots forced to
ditch in the ocean. While forcing people to participate in these
experiments against their will was morally inexcusable, I hope that the
*knowledge* gained by this research is still used today. In fact, I
suspect it must be. While the techniques used by Mengele and his
associates was clearly reprehensible, the knowledge is still valuable,
however gained.

Of course movies and TV shows aren't potentially life-saving the way a
better flight suit or life jacket might be but there's still no point in
throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Whatever Weinstein did as a
person doesn't make the shows he produced despicable. That would be like
murdering every German living in 1945 because of Hitler's crimes.

Yes. Janeway's position was that, for instance, if this guy had been the one to discover that the Borgia plant was toxic, that information would need to be suppressed forever, and Neelix goes on feeding it to the crew.

A substantial number of whom would be Jews. But that's how SJWs think.
If you can call it thinking.

Good point. Especially since the company fired him.

He appreciated a good drama even if it wasn't a guaranteed blockbuster,
which is more than you can say about a lot of those studio heads.

Pity about the job losses this will cause. Don't expect any sympathy from ravenous hags like Gloria Allred (born Gloria Rachel Bloom) or Weinstein for that. Their kind don't really care about it.
