What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Buy windows 10 phone
2. Search WP store for Chrome
3. Not found

The previous discussion of Chrome on Windows phones ended with the
conclusion that the Winrt API's didn't support what Chrome needs, see Issue
153802.

Now that the Windows 10 and Windows 10 mobile releases are fast approaching
I'm curious if it would be possible to get Chrome to run on Windows phones.
It would be very nice to have Chrome bookmark sync and history sync on a
WP10 device.

It would be great to see this and other Google Apps like Hangouts into the
WP environment, and maybe the W10 Universal Apps could make this easier.

The thing I'm most curious about is whether the latest universal app model
for Windows 10 + Windows 10 mobile has introduced new APIs in the SDK that
overcome some of the earlier challenges in developing Chrome for Windows
Phone.

I am sure that Google services have a shot in Windows phone environment. It
is a win-win situation: it brings appreciated services (especially Google
Chrome) to a growing marketshare (small now but expected to be much larger
with the new iteration)and so Google enlarge its covering. When a new
promissing market is about to arrive, ones who arrive first secure the best
seat, so take your chance Google.

Yes please Chrome for my WP, Nokia Lumia. I switched after 15 years to wp
and I'm very pleased with it's results; for private and my business use. My
only problem is with no Chrome options.

It's not that simple to convert the app. I'm pretty sure Chrome uses many
special Android APIs for working the way it does, and finding a replacement
for all those APIs on a Windows platform is probably not worth the whole
process.
From what I've seen, Project Astoria better suits for games or simple apps
that use basic, standard APIs that have an equivalent on the Windows 10
platform.

The same applies for the similar Project Islandwood. I guess even on iOS
the Chrome app has special access to some iOS APIs that enable a developer
to build an advanced rendering engine like the one Chrome is based on.

Chrome will eventually come to Windows 10 if / when APIs provide enough
access to low-level platform APIs and functions.

From a business standpoint, Google releasing a WP10 Chrome app would be
counterproductive, considering MS and Google's interests (remember the
YouTube app's "html5 incompatibility" issues?). Like #34 said, a much more
likely path would be a open-source fork of Chromium. Even then, it is still
possible Microsoft may kill the app due to its own interests (Bing and
other Microsoft services).

From a policy standpoint, Microsoft allowing a Chrome/Chromium browser into
its app store would be unlikely, since all web browsers are required to use
Microsoft's Trident layout engine. This is analogous to iOS' requirement of
the WebKit layout engine. Contrary to what #32 and #33 said, Chrome
supports iOS because WebKit and Blink are very similar (Blink is actually a
fork of WebKit). When WP10 comes, this requirement will most likely shift
from Trident to Edge, but it is unlikely that MS would allow Blink. With
enough user support, this requirement may change, but it is still only a
chance.

From a technical standpoint, emulation of the Android SDK, NDK, and Play
Services is hard. For example, take the ARC project, driven by Google
itself (https://developer.chrome.com/apps/getstarted_arc). Even with Google
engineers, the project only works with certain apps, shown here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iIbxaftAu_ho5rv9fUlXSLTzwU6MbKOldsWXyrYiyo8/edit?pli=1#gid=0).
The Chrome for Android app fails due to missing native libraries.

The real issue is the amount of compatibility Microsoft will provide with
WP10. If MS provides a complete Android emulation--as some rumours
suggest--porting Chrome would be as simple as replacing or commenting out
(if any) Play Services APIs and porting it like any Android app. If
compatibility is low--as other rumours suggest--porting will more
difficult. Quite frankly, it all comes down to Microsoft's level of
emulation and compatibility. Everything we know right now is just rumours.
Therefore, I suggest we revisit the issue when the compatibility level is
known.

For Chromium devs:
Whilst I appreciate the Chromium team keeping this issue open,
requesting "eager users" to not comment isn't having an effect. This is an
issue that thousands of Google users have been waiting for an answer to for
3 months.

Since it seems like a funding decision more than anything, is there any
official forum we can notify Google of the demand for this. Alternatively,
where we can prod a productive answer out of Google?

The reason alot of people are converging here is the lack of replies to
this question on the Chrome Help Forum/Google Chrome inbuilt feedback.

For eager Google users:
If you wish to send Google (ie not this forum) feedback, make sure to also
let them know that lack of access to their web services (poor IE/Opera
support) has made users like myself leave the personal Drive/Mail
ecosystem, and is making us consider switching from Google Apps at work due
to the lack of "access anywhere".

It's nice to see how many Android apps work unmodified using Project
Astoria. Windows Central user DavidinCT compiled a spreadsheet together
with other forum users, see here: https://goo.gl/HrC01T

Some interesting entries: "Dolphin Browser" works, and the "Browser" apk is
reported as working as well.

Given that non-coding volunteers can just run apk's through the compiler
and get working apps makes it likely that many Android app developers will
at least publish a 'quick and dirty' port in the WP store. Whether Chrome
will make the jump remains to be seen.

personally I'm hopeful that the broader familiarity of Windows 10
(desktop), exposure to MS services on Android, the low OS cost for device
manufacturers, the addition of (legally) ported Android and iOS apps, and
some nice new hardware will make WP grow enough to motivate Google to jump
in as well.

Although by that time I may be ready to retire! :)

It looks like Project Islandwood is now the easiest way to getting Chrome
on Windows Phone, see here https://dev.windows.com/en-us/bridges/ios.
Unfortunately it looks like Project Astoria, which could run Andoid apk's
in an emulator with additional api's for hardware related functions (e.g.
GPS), has been delayed or canceled, see this piece from earlier this week:
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/11/divisive-android-app-support-for-windows-mobile-dropped-maybe-even-discarded/

Given the lack of developer enthusiasm for Windows Phone, especially at
Google, I fear that the delay/cancellation of Astoria has made it even less
likely that Chrome will be ported. It won't stop me from buying a Lumia
950XL next week, but it would still be nice to be able to run Chrome on it.

Actually, now that I have purchased a Windows phone, I see no need for
Chrome on it. The version of IE in Windows Phone 8.1 works excellently and
I'm sure I'll be more than satisfied when the phone gets upgraded to Win 10
Mobile.I also no longer have it installed on my desktop PC running W10. The
default of IE with Edge as a backup is perfectly sufficient.

I'm removing my support for this issue.

For details, Windows 10 Mobile adds JIT support capablity to apps.
Also, ARM code can be used, unlike WP8 where only Thumb-2 was allowed so
porting V8 is trivial.

Aware of the dev issues, but if truth be known, the roadblocks are more of
