Red Bull to switch to Honda:

https://www.lequipe.fr/Formule-1/Actualites/Red-bull-se-separe-de-renault-et-utilisera-des-moteurs-honda-en-2019-officiel/912965

There is a rumour that Adrian Newey might be considering his position. Were
he to move that would surely be the clincher for Ricciardo and would make
Verstappen’s contract look a lot less attractive (although I imagine there
are performance-related clauses).

I wouldn't be surprised if Ricciardio exits stage-left, but... to where?

Yeah, I was thinking Ferrari or Merc, which are presumably the only two
teams he would be interested in. People say that Dan is far too quick for
Vettel’s liking but Vettel doesn’t run Ferrari, Marchionne does, and he’s a
pretty tough guy.

There seem to have been discussions between Ricciardo and Mercedes but the
team is pretty impressed with Bottas just now so probably want to maintain
the status quo. I can’t help wondering whether the delays over Hamilton’s
contract have something to do with the Ricciardo situation, although,
whilst both Vettel and Hamilton are capable of throwing hissy fits, it is
my impression that Lewis would accept a super-competitive team mate more
readily than Seb would (discuss :-))

Lewis has had 5 team mates, all have beaten him at least once. Three of
them were WDC. Not many top drivers have careers like that.

Why would Mercedes have their own 'academy' and then sign up one from
RB? I can see Ocon in the Mercedes - and winning, in a couple of years.

Ricciardo does bleat a lot to the press. RB might encourage that,
Mercedes don't.

Yes he will, all the way up until the moment it has a change to become a reality.

Wow, so where are two of the best drivers trying to move to?
Red Bull of course!
More seriously, will there be more Red Bull parts appearing on the Toro
Rosso cars to move them up the field?

Apart from the PU, I don't know what is different now.

What you don't know could fill a library but it doesn't help answer the

More? There are none now are there? They're completely separate entities
afaik. The main reason the STR car is doing better (other than having the
Honda PU) is the $$$ that Honda put into the team - which will vanish when
RBR become their primary focus.

That would be 'hand-out' I guess. Now, where was Dubya from, and how is
the level of schooling in that state ?

Mclaren are apparently after Daniel, reportedly offering him $20M a year
to move.

That would be the end of his WDC ambitions, especially if he's paired
with Fred.

For that sort of money you'd have to assume that he would be a
replacement for Fred.
