very recently for a part in TA. People were speculating on who he
might play. I thought George. A stroppy George, being looked after by
Emma while Nic is ill, but his attidude influenced by hearing his
parents alk about Emma and Ed in a disparaging way.

I have a nasty feeling that Nic may not survive this and Brian may have
a fatality on his hands. Given the degree of support Will has been
giving Brian and his unwillingness to even consider the possibility that
Brian might have questions to answer, it seems very probable that the
pollution is the cause of Nic's illness.

You are correct. Anything Nic picked up, whether bugs causing sepsis or
pollution causing who knows what damage, was acquired when she cut
herself while sorting out Joe's stuff for jumble. Joe's tqt could
easily have been sitting around on land contaminated with who knows what.

That would be typical for Ambridge but they seem to have been setting
things up for a lot of people to be left with regrets about how they
treated Nic, which seems to be pointing to her death. Will's decision
to go dancing with her, in particular, but also her falling out with
Emma and Jolene's decision to sack her, all provide fertile ground for
both regrets and ill feeling from Will.

Thanks for the BT Nomination too though this time I wasn't actually
punting for one. I was just so incensed at the idea that, in the crazy,
gun-obsessed world that is the USA, a trained officer with a uniform and
a gun who has been paid for - what is it? - eight or nine years? - to
protect the kids in that school, in the end, didn't do his job.

Then I thought, so what if he wasn't trained and they just put a poor
sucker into a uniform and gave him a gun and told him it'll never happen
here. So the poor sap suffers PTSD and sues his employers. I suspect it
will be interesting to see what investigative media in the US dig up here.

A family I know in Miami were horrified when their darling little one
started school and the very first lesson they received was how to hide
in a safe place and stay very, very still.....

These deputies are apparently "sworn law enforcement officers who are
responsible for safety and crime prevention in schools, although their
exact roles differ from school to school and authority to authority"
and there are between 14,000 and 20,000 in schools across the US.

So, doesn't this kind of contradict all the people (and Presidents)
saying that having good guys with guns in schools will stop the bad
guys with guns? If this guy isn't going to engage, what will giving
your average English or Home Ec teacher a concealed weapon change?

I don't remember if I've already posted this, but I assume the
teacher/cleaner/caretaker would not wear the pistol in a holster all
the time? If not, where would the gun be? A locked drawer in their
desk/cleaning materials cupboard? Not on the desk, I assume? And then
when a killer comes into the classroom, with any kind of gun, they
have to be at the desk and get it out. If they are at the otehr side
of the classroom explaining or marking, they'd need to get back to the
desk. Not a fast response then.

I'm sure that's got to be Fake News. I mean, The Donald is sure there
were millions more people at his inauguration than there were at

airbrush them all out of the coverage. All those people were packing
and were ready to blow away all the snowflakes who were going to cry
because their guy lost.

Someone on fb apparently has a friend whose 13 yr old son interviewed
very recently for a part in TA.  People were speculating on who he
might play. I thought George.  A stroppy George, being looked after by
Emma while Nic is ill, but his attidude influenced by hearing his
parents alk about Emma and Ed in a disparaging way.

George would certainly be about the right age to acquire a voice.  He
lives, mainly, with Emma and Ed, so being looked after by Emma
wouldn't come as a shock but having all Nic's children at Grange Farm
as well might.
I have a nasty feeling that Nic may not survive this and Brian may
have a fatality on his hands. Given the degree of support Will has
been giving Brian and his unwillingness to even consider the
possibility that Brian might have questions to answer, it seems very
probable that the pollution is the cause of Nic's illness.

it was Kirstie who was swimming in the filth.

You are correct.  Anything Nic picked up, whether bugs causing sepsis or
pollution causing who knows what damage, was acquired when she cut
herself while sorting out Joe's stuff for jumble.  Joe's tqt could
easily have been sitting around on land contaminated with who knows what.

And had also been damaged in the flood...

will be difficult to prove that it was the culprit. It could be that it
simply made the hole through which the infection entered.

I once cut my big toe quite badly on a stair in a College which was hosting an Open University tutorial. I was the tutor. College first aiders bandaged it up and my tutorial went ahead. An OU Staff Tutor who happened to be present was most solicitous but I had to fill up the accident books for both the college and the OU.

Hm, wonder if this relates to Will's 'shock' tonight and the long night for
the Grundys on Friday?

I assume so. I have noted who is not in the cast list.

Someone on fb apparently has a friend whose 13 yr old son interviewed
very recently for a part in TA. People were speculating on who he
might play. I thought George. A stroppy George, being looked after by
Emma while Nic is ill, but his attidude influenced by hearing his
parents alk about Emma and Ed in a disparaging way.

George would certainly be about the right age to acquire a voice. He
lives, mainly, with Emma and Ed, so being looked after by Emma wouldn't
come as a shock but having all Nic's children at Grange Farm as well
might.

There may also be a need to cast Jake & Mia, if there's going to be a
custody storyline.

True and they're also about the right age to join the cast.

If his mark was to create a set of fairly rubbish storylines, I guess
he's done it. I think pretty much everything of late has been poorly
written. Things happen and then are forgotten about, while other
things just pop up out of nowhere.

There was mention of Anysha the other day, but I can't remember
hearing that she's back at work or whether she's still looking after
her Dad. She was looking for somewhere close by for him to move to,
but we've heard nothing of that.

Toby has suddenly had the Ozzie soap-style personality transplant and
become something other than a feckless waster - although Pip has also
had a visit from the PTF in that she's not told him to stop crowding
her.

We keep getting teased with Alice's drinking. I assume this feud with
the guy at work will suddenly turn into either an affair or she's
going to run him over.

And don't even get me going on Susan and Neil.

Unfortunately, because he's the only one who isn't treating Pip like
an invalid, she's not getting irritated about it. I'd have decked him
by now, and would keep bringing up the budgie smugglers!

I don't think we've actually heard Anisha since her mother died but we
have heard a couple of mentions of her being back. I think there was
one of the occasions when all the young(ish) of Ambridge were around but
Rex and Anisha were celebrating her return with an evening in.

There's also been a reference or two to her being at work, such as when
Latif was persuaded to go back to using her and Alistair as his vet.

I don't find that too implausible. I suspect Tigerlike OTT describes
quite a few of the things Toby has got involved in. What is far less
certain is whether he can turn this into a long term commitment and
involvement, when it as become ordinary and routine, rather than new and
exciting.

I also wouldn't find it inherently implausible for him to make that
shift. It isn't unknown for major dramas such as this to push someone
into doing some serious, if overdue, growing up.

Don't think so. I think she didn't come home that night, but at this
point we're not led to believe this is anything other than she's a
total dypso.

Again, I agree. I suspect the reason this chap at work has a downer on
Alice is that she frequently makes mistakes, or is considerably below
par, due to either hangovers or a liquid lunch.

I'm just waiting for the deal she was celebrating, a few weeks ago, to
fall apart because of something she forgot to mention or even lied about.

There was mention of Anysha the other day, but I can't remember
hearing that she's back at work or whether she's still looking after
her Dad. She was looking for somewhere close by for him to move to,
but we've heard nothing of that.

I thought there had been some mention of all that and I'd missed it or
forgotten it.

Rex said recently when he first encountered Tobes that he and Anisha had
bern holed up together, the same scene when Tobes announced he’s resumed
sausage hiding.

If he has really been in charge up until today's programme, then it
would appear that he wanted to make his mark before he left.

I spotted the return of the previous temp in the post but I have now
decided that HKJ should be hated as much as SoC.
