I agree. I don't think he was mocking the journalist's disability. The
trouble is, it will have seemed to many people that he was. A gracious
apology from Trump for inadvertently causing offence would have been
much better than pretending that he didn't cause offence.

Somehow, I doubt that Trump does gracious apologies. He does like to
repeat the last few words of his sentences, though, as if he wasn't sure
that we had heard them properly.

Whether he does gracious apologies or not, making one in this case would
not be the end of the matter. His opponents (or the worst of them, at
least) are not minded to accept apologies. Making one in those terms
would simply be interpreted by them as an admission.

Trump needs to calm down a bit.

Perhaps he should apologise for having limp wrists.

It may be part of some 'not doing what politicians normally do' sort of
thing?

I think he should not have reacted in the way he did to Streep, it's not befitting for his position.

He should be forcibly restrained from using Twitter.

Actually it's far worse to badmouth the US intelligence community and to
imply that he prefers the word of the Russians and Julian Assange.
Trouble is, a man like Trump doesn't like to take orders from anyone,
not even if it's from a PR team wanting to improve his public image.

He would have seen the classified evidence that we can't and it doesn't seem he's convinced on the scale of certainty that the Washington Post and the general anti Trump MSM are. If it takes lies to bring Trump down then so be it as far as they are concerned.
Trump wants to de-escalate the tension that the out going administration has created between the US and Russia and which western media is continuously feeding us. There are hawks in Trumps own party, John McCain being chief among them that are just itching for conflict. What are these madmen pushing for WW3? So he is up against huge forces.
JFK wanted to smash the CIA and we know what happened to him.

You always try to see the best in people. That's nice.

Would you trust Trump to have the necessary skills to analyse raw
intelligence and come to conclusions that differ from those of the CIA?
Would that be with the assistance of his wife and his little boy?

A President who is disrespectful to the families of war veterans and who
sides with the Russians against the CIA and NSA could eventually find
himself being called a traitor and a subversive.

It does not appear that the CIA did in fact come to any firm conclusion
based on the language they used. A comprehensive parsing of the wording
used can be obtained at:

http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog/79527/russian-hacking-chronology-not-make-sense

What startled me was the use of the wording "we assess..."

I seem to recall similar language being used to assess Iraq's supposed
WMDs. We assess Saddam has Chemical and Biological weapons..... that can
be deployed within 45 minutes of an order to use them.

We assess is just another wording for "we think that".

Pres Obama had his legitimacy challenged by the Birther movement and was
then stymied by Congress for most of his term. It's now payback time.

Do you really think that's how it works in the White House, has any President in history of the USA had it all his own way? Most have been hobbled.

War veterans were voted for Trump en mass, they have no faith in the Democratics with Hillary Clinton.

Utter fantasy. Meanwhile McCain wanted to arm the headchoppers in Syria with weapons to bring down Russian jets - arming the same people responsible for 9/11. If that's not treason I don't know what is.
