Time for those "lod boos" Dave!

Ag! Finally going to stop watching something you hate just so you can hate
on it? Or will you carry on watching and hating?

Casting a woman to play the title role is the last gasp of desperation
of a series already on life support after Moffat drove it into the
ground head first.

Who are they going to get to play the screaming companion asking all the
stupid questions? A man? Do they seriously think male viewers will keep
watching? Do they seriously think female viewers will fancy a female Doctor?

This gimmick won't last more than 5 minutes.

It's already lost them an entire generation of boys below the age of
puberty who won't watch it because there isn't a male lead.

The only way it could work is if the male companion is made to be the
real hero of the show, saving the Doctor on every occasion, and then you
would have the question, why is a man traveling in the TARDIS with an
older woman who isn't his mother? If they're not portrayed as being in a
relationship it won't have any credibility whatsoever and no one will
watch. A female Doctor and a female companion is out of the question;
half the audience will be gone in an instant. A female Doctor and a male
and a female companion will be a menage a trios!

Facebook is already in uproar!

For the sake of the series let's hope this is just a bad practical joke
and Jodie Whittaker is actually there to give the key to the TARDIS to
the real 13th Doctor. I almost thought it was Joanna Lumley reenacting
her role from the end of The Curse of Fatal Death!

Yes, she's a great choice considering the current incumbent, and it
already looks from the few seconds we've seen, like she's going to do a
much batter job with the role than Peter Capaldi ever did. Was that the
official costume?

Unfortunately if the series isn't written as a romance between the
female Doctor and the male companion it just isn't going to work. They
can't have her acting like his mother.

The problem is as seen on Torchwood, Chibnall doesn't have a clue how to
do romance.

choice too - if nothing else it's fun to see the reaction of radw's 2

You must be referring to Stephen Moffat and John Nathan-Turner.

I'm sure Sidney Newman is laughing out loud in his grave.

They both drove Doctor Who into the ground and casting a female Doctor
was Newman's final nail!

What would the crowd here think is a reasonable/good effort??

Seems to me the new Doctors, excluding Christopher, are lasting three
seasons, so, if Jodie last two seasons is that a good effort??

I am under the impression that Yads thinks that Jodie might be sacked almost right away, due to massive protests by the fans!

Do you not read what you type, idiot?? Perhaps that would explain why so
many of your responses are such nonsensical garbage!!
You said try 45/7 in fvour while the 7 are against.
Where is your logic?
O.K., idiot, do you see, up above in this post, where I typed ".... 45%
in favour of Jodie, 45% undecided and only about 7% against"??
Do you also see, up above in this post, where you typed " .... Then you
see 52/45 against"??
Do you also see, up above in this post, where you typed " .... 7 against
and you say they arein favour?"??
How did you arrive at your "52 against"?? Did you, perhaps, add the 7
against and the 45 undecided to arrive at your "52 against"??
I, on the other hand separated out the 45 undecided and just included
the 45 in favour and the 7 against to arrive at my post, up above in
this post, of 45 in favour, 7 against and 45 undecided.
I hope this helps you realise what an idiot you are, idiot!!

No, not necessarily. Or at least, not to the exclusion of all else. She needs enthusiasm for the role, a decent production team, good scripts and appropriate supporting cast members. And hopefully the approval of existing fans, as well as gaining brand new fans.

See if you can find episodes of "Broadchurch". That's where she worked

There's a short, creepy film featuring her & Alan Rickman on YouTube.

So ... Jodie Whittaker. Interesting choice. Wonder if Kris Marshall will be
her first companion?
If they're not portrayed as being in a
relationship it won't have any credibility whatsoever and no one will
watch. A female Doctor and a female companion is out of the question;
half the audience will be gone in an instant.
Another rant doesn't answer the question. I guess you're going to keep
watching, because hate is all you have.

Correct. They can't create anything of their own so they steal something
someone else created and put a woman in the leading role.

Look at how the all female Ghostbusters totally flopped. Look at how
Hillary Clinton failed to be elected President against Donald Trump.
Look at how Theresa May lost the general election she called.

her first companion?
If they're not portrayed as being in a
relationship it won't have any credibility whatsoever and no one will
watch. A female Doctor and a female companion is out of the question;
half the audience will be gone in an instant.
Another rant doesn't answer the question. I guess you're going to keep
watching, because hate is all you have.
Even some women and 'feminists' are not happy with the decision.
Correct. They can't create anything of their own so they steal something
someone else created and put a woman in the leading role.
Look at how the all female Ghostbusters totally flopped. Look at how
Hillary Clinton failed to be elected President against Donald Trump.
Look at how Theresa May lost the general election she called.
Look how Margaret Thatcher villified Socialism.

And I think the Conservatives are a bunch pious self-opinionated hypocrits
Jesus would chastise.

Hillary Clinton had too much political baggage
and Sanders should have been their choice.

Just read my latest post on the decision and you can understand my rationale.

Hardly. I take a very rational position on this as, I hope, on most issues.

This is the position:

It is canon that Timelords can regenerate as a different sex (as finally
established beyond doubt in Hell Bent).

Therefore, the Doctor can be a woman.

The next Doctor WILL be a woman.

So, I await the programme next year with interest. Will she be a great
Doctor? Or a complete McCoy? Only time will tell.

on it? Or will you carry on watching and hating?
Casting a woman to play the title role is the last gasp of desperation
of a series already on life support after Moffat drove it into the
ground head first.
Who are they going to get to play the screaming companion asking all the
stupid questions? A man? Do they seriously think male viewers will keep
watching? Do they seriously think female viewers will fancy a
female Doctor?

This gimmick won't last more than 5 minutes.
It's already lost them an entire generation of boys below the age of
puberty who won't watch it because there isn't a male lead.
The only way it could work is if the male companion is made to be the
real hero of the show, saving the Doctor on every occasion, and then you
would have the question, why is a man traveling in the TARDIS with an
older woman who isn't his mother? If they're not portrayed as being in a
relationship it won't have any credibility whatsoever and no one will
watch. A female Doctor and a female companion is out of the question;
half the audience will be gone in an instant.
Another rant doesn't answer the question. I guess you're going to keep
watching, because hate is all you have.
Even some women and 'feminists' are not happy with the decision.
Some people would not be happy with any decision. Although I suppose Ag
might be happy if the Doctor was cast as an elderly corpulent Greek male
who hated everything and everyone except himself and was in search of the
imaginary attractive woman who wouldn't kick him in the balls when he tried
to grab her arse. Finally one person on TV that he could relate to!
And then have a twitter porn queen endorsing Jodie.
That makes no sense in context Dave.
Too closeted a life?

You've just written yourself into a corner. By declaring this "the last

further, for what comes after "last"?

You blew it.

What comes after last? That would be the final blow or TKO. Series is
dead! Series is buried!

You saw what happened with Missy. She cost the series 25% of its
audience. You saw what happened with Bill. More or less the same along
with a drop in the key group of under 13s which are the basis for the
next generation of fans.

The only way a female Doctor could have worked is if it was Joanna
Lumley straight after Tom Baker and Sidney Newman replacing John
Nathan-Turner.

I'm making no judgements whatsoever until I've seen a full series. She's certainly dividing opinion, but if nothing else she'll give the series a bit of a shakeup. And why not? Looking forward to it!

audience. You saw what happened with Bill. More or less the same along
with a drop in the key group of under 13s which are the basis for the
next generation of fans.

Heather and Miss Bill.
I feel cheated. When did they go down on each other during the show?
You missed The Doctor Falls towards the end?
So, what is your definition of 'going down'?
You really do not want Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor if you want
to know that.
We were talking Bill and Heather here.
You saw them getting to third base together?
That would be the meaning on going down on each other.

I did not see any lesbian sex scene, as implied by the idea of them going

I feel cheated. When did they go down on each other during the show?
You missed The Doctor Falls towards the end?
I don't recall seeing them boink each other silly.
They were just getting started.

Casting a woman to play the title role is the last gasp of desperation
of a series already on life support after Moffat drove it into the
ground head first. . . .
Dear Aggie,
You've just written yourself into a corner. By declaring this "the last
gasp of desperation", you've made it impossible to complain about it
further, for what comes after "last"?
You blew it.
What comes after last? That would be the final blow or TKO. Series is
dead! Series is buried!
You saw what happened with Missy. She cost the series 25% of its
audience. You saw what happened with Bill. More or less the same along
with a drop in the key group of under 13s which are the basis for the
next generation of fans.
The only way a female Doctor could have worked is if it was Joanna
Lumley straight after Tom Baker and Sidney Newman replacing John
Nathan-Turner.
WEll the Lesbians did not go down well.
I didn't see any scenes of lesbians going down. I would like to protest at

So ... Jodie Whittaker. Interesting choice. Wonder if Kris Marshall will be
her first companion?
If they're not portrayed as being in a
relationship it won't have any credibility whatsoever and no one will
watch. A female Doctor and a female companion is out of the question;
half the audience will be gone in an instant.
Facebook and Twitter.

coplete post soon.

The pro-Jodie faction needs to get organized to offset the anti-Jodie faction.
Tim: in a Radio Times poll of over 12,000 viewers, 41% were excited and
thought it was a fantastic idea. 44% were happy to wait and see how it
works. 15% are against the idea. If that proportion goes across the
viewership as a whole, I'd guess that the show will lose about 7% of its
current viewers because of this. I'd expect that to be offset by about a
10% uplift from current non viewers wanting to give it another shot because
of the new format, and an initial 25% lift of gawpers, come to see the
weirdness, some of whom will stick with the show.

It really will depend on the stories and the characters. The companion or
companions will be equally important.

One possibility, for example, would be saddling the Doctor with a Timelord
apprentice ... who could also regenerate as either sex!

It really will depend on the stories and the characters. The companion or
companions will be equally important.
The stories I've seen the new show runner wrote were good enough. I have
a good feeling about it.

One possibility, for example, would be saddling the Doctor with a Timelord
apprentice ... who could also regenerate as either sex!
But not too often. It shouldn't be just a gimmick.

So ... Jodie Whittaker. Interesting choice. Wonder if Kris Marshall will be
her first companion?
I fear that Chibnall may have to drop Jodie due to political pressures.
The pro-Jodie faction needs to get organized to offset the anti-Jodie
faction.

Good numbers.

I know when polls can be flooded.

The pro-Joide faction are acting like Orwellian thought police twits.
