As a multi-day summary I watched:
HALT AND CATCH FIRE: The episodes for the new season that have aired so
far. The show started out slow, but got good again once everyone
reunited. Donna is a parasite. Gordon is still alive and his brain is
still mostly working. I liked Cameron better as a blonde and I feel bad
for her that the gaming industry was taken over by stupid shoot-em-up games.
THE DEFENDERS: The episodes for the new season. The show started out
slow, but got good again once everyone reunited. Well, everyone but IRON
FIST who still sucks as a character. The major problem here is that the
'super heroes' continuously fail to remove the enemy threat. The talk
and they slap people down, but they never do what is needed to keep
people down. Meanwhile, a secret lair filled with magic live forever
juice sort of negates the idea that anyone involved cannot simply return
next season. The secret scene past the end credits was a promo for THE
PUNISHER rather than for any of the other 4 series.
TEEN WOLF: The latest few episodes in which it seems like every past
character is returning for the final half season...every past character
except my favorite character. :-( Only 4 episodes left.
PREACHER: I was right about the S&M scene Jesse was brought to while
looking for God awhile back. Beyond that, this show just keeps being
weird and over the top. I know the religious nutters say that they got
offended by the idea of Jesus having sex, but really, I think they were
actually offended by the portrayal of the Pope and Cardinal and the
general consensus that these figures are clueless.
DISJOINTED: The first 2 episodes of this new Netflix sitcom starring
Kathy Bates and a band of druggies. This show is offered up by Chuck
Lorre and features one of his typical, unbearable laugh tracks. The
series is supposed to be decidedly pro-marijuana, I think, but it also
freely promotes the idea that people who use the stuff are operating at
a diminished brain capacity. A few of the characters have the potential
to be interesting, but there are also a lot of annoying characters and
annoyingly stupid drug humor. After 2 episodes I quit watching because
Netflix has integrated commercials into this show (Lays potato chips)
and I don't want Netflix to think that commercials are ok.
MY EX-EX: A 2015 comedy (romcom) film about a woman who dates loser
men. This film features a pair of women from WYNONNA EARP and a menage
a trois...but don't expect any of it to be good.
GHOST IN THE SHELL: The 2017 Scarlett Johansson film where she plays
some sort of android-ish character. This tried to make sense and was at
least better than the unwatchably bad animated version, but it still
came off as a dippy comic book tale where the pieces don't fit together
in any coherent way...or at least not with any depth.
Side note: Anim8r, I got your email and tried to respond, but I was
using a friend's computer and AOL's website and the two apparently
refused to play nice so sending a reply failed multiple times.
Second side note: Apparently eternal-september is also not working on
my home computer so I'm re-sending this via albasani.
