What Did You Watch? 2017-09-11 (Monday)

I watched:

PREACHER: The season finale in which several characters died and others
found their way back home. This is a really good show that never stops
finding ways to push the envelope. I cannot wait for next season.

NARCOS: The first 2 episodes of season #3. With Escobar gone, the Cali
cartel is now the main target of the DEA. Nothing seems to have really
changed in tone or style with this new season despite the loss of 2 of
thethree main characters from previous seasons. Still a good show.

2 DAYS IN NEW YORK: A 2012 film starring Julie Delpy and Chris Rock as
a couple trying to survive a visit from in-laws in New York City. Some
of the humor was dry and some of the humor was very juvenile. This is
not one of Delpy's better works, but it did inspire me to add 2 DAYS IN
PARIS (the prequel) to my Netflix queue.

Yes! I replied to yesterday's thread but it never showed up. I wasn't
sure if I just wasn't seeing it or it never actually posted. I finally
sent it again late last night. Let's see if this one posts or not...
What did you watch?
The Last Ship - "Allegiance" - I think this was already covered. I've
already lost interest in the series. Now I'm just debating if I should
keep with it anyway or dump it.

The Sinner - At this point I'm just waiting for it to end.

Salvation - "All In" - Already covered. During the airplane free fall
scene, Dr. Bishop should have just gotten up out of his seat and walked
to the back of the plane, closing the door behind him. And said
something like, "I won't be a witness to your stupidity." as he walked
away. If the plane doesn't crash (which I'm sure it wouldn't have) then
his bluff has just been called.

As long as it's got Rhona Mitra in it. She's hawt.

For me it ended after the pilot.

It's annoying - I like the old way where it would TELL you if a post was rejected, and let you try and post it again. (At least, that's how NewsWatcher handled it!)

Now I'm posting stuff that seems to go through, but it just disappears!

What did you watch?
MIDNIGHT, TEXAS / Last Temptation of Midnight / 1x08

[A faceless supernatural makes a pilgrimage to Midnight to usher in the
arrival of a demon from the veil to Hell - the same demon that has been
plaguing Fiji. Meanwhile, the Midnighters struggle to fight the effects
of the veil to Hell opening in their town, especially Lem and the Rev,
whose hunger increases to dangerous levels. Olivia and Bobo make plans
of their own to protect the town. Elsewhere, Creek struggles in the face
of great loss as Manfred confronts his constant self-medicating.]

"This ain't anywhere near okay."

Like a certain airport employee before him, Manfred picks the wrong week
to quit popping pills and then picks the wrong person to flag down for a
ride. This after ditching the broken-down RV in the desert and going on
a nature hike disguised as a detox session. This after learning that
Grandma lied to him. She didn't encourage him to go to Midnight because
it was safe; rather, it was the result of a dream of hers and she wasn't
above lying to get him to go there to fulfill the vision. Yeah, that's
not very nice at all. And she's untethered from the RV now, so we may or
may not see much more of her. In Midnight, the Rev enjoys a steak and
Lem tries to take a bite or two out of Olivia (can you blame him?) while
a couple of sad people -- Creek being one of them -- are saved just
before taking their own lives. Fiji mixes up a concoction that saves the
day and all of the people acting out of character, but not the town. Not
yet, anyway. Our gang manages to kill the faceless dude, but his boss is
still out there. And he wants Fiji. So next on the to do list: save
everyone's favorite Wiccan.

Grade: B-

Well, both he and she said she'd passed on, so if we see her again, that
would be a helluva retcon.

Well, we don't know the rules. We know that Ghost Grandma was tethered
to the RV until now and couldn't come and go, but we don't know if she
has the freedom to come and go now that she's no longer tethered.

I'm picturing Bobo looking out the front window of the pawnshop and
saying, "Hey, guys, there's a short British girl outside. She's dressed
funny and has this little dagger..."

What did you watch?
On Mon Sept 11 I watched:

THE EXPANSE: Caliban's War
Season 2 final.

THE BLETCHLEY CIRCLE: Cracking a Killer's Code (1)(2)(3)
A UK show, and the only actress in it I know is
Julie Graham who looks different (? older).
The circle of 4 women worked on codes in Bletchley during the war,
and are now using their knowledge to tracking down murderers.
This completes Season 1, & Season 2 has 4 episodes.

I watched this on Netflix and liked it. Nothing spectacular, but
enjoyable. I think season 2 sputtered a little bit, probably because
Susan (Anna Maxwell-Martin) leaves half-way through.
