Did anyone see this last episode of the series last night?
I had quite expected it to be the last ever but a voice over at the end
promised a return.
Some of the action took place in a minor "public" school and I was
amused at the way the writer had lifted, almost intact, scenes from a
play by Giles Cooper called "Unman, Wittering and Zigo" (The title of
that play refers to the last three names on the class register.)
I am surprised that anyone recalls it - it was broadcast on R3 late in
1958, though possibly repeated later.

original post, reveals that U,W & Z was also televised and made into a
film. Furthermore it is used in some schools as a text!

original post, reveals that U,W & Z was also televised and made into a
film. Furthermore it is used in some schools as a text!

I remember seeing U, W & Z as a film with David Hemmings. Don't
remember that much detail about it, but I do remember it being quite a
good, scary film. IIRC, "Zigo's absent, sir" took on very sinister
overtones.

I have only watched part of it so far, but still glad I can zap through the
adverts which seem to become more frequent by the episode.

I too expected it to be the last and wouldn't have minded much. I'll
watch anything with Roger Allam in but I'm a bit fed up with Shaun
smouldering all over the place. We had a bit of a giggle at the thought
of a drive-by shooting in the Turl.

And I did think some of it was familiar - well spotted, I remember
seeing David Hemmings in the film.

I too expected it to be the last and wouldn't have minded much. I'll

YANAOU. We both said Worst. Episode. Ever. When it ended. And are fed
up with the smouldering too, me more than b.

How could Fancy have gone in alone before back-up arrived?? I
suggested someone put a gun to his head and made him but why would
they? Easier to kill him in the car.

How could the matron let it all go on so long and why not go to the
head master or police? 23 stabs?? Was she taking it from Julius
Caesar too? Who put the shirt and notebook there for the boys to find?
Did she take his shirt off before shoving him into the pit? And what
about the teacher who thought the dead teacher was evil? He and the
matron both did so why did neither go to the head?
