Sad news to start this week. Gordon Adams, G3LEQ passed away quietly last
week. Gordon had held many posts within amateur radio including serving his
fellow amateurs as the GB2RS News Service Manager for many years. He was
also the RSGB Spectrum Director and a prime mover of the 5MHz experiment
when that started. He []

The organisers plan the usual broad mix across the five streams with topics
to cater for all tastes and at all levels. AMSAT-UK will be organising some
of the lectures, as the AMSAT Colloquium will be incorporated into the
Convention again this year. []

Why has everyone suddenly begun refusing to accept the inevitable?

Dunno, mate. Ask Burt, he gets really pissy when you remind him of his
looming expiration.

I've noticed more elderly people say passed away when someone has died
of essentially of old age. It seems to be a form of short hand that it
was just time for them to die. Whereas they use died when someone has
died from other reasons. So you can pass away because you reached 90 or
you can die because you caught flu. Or slipped on ice, broke a hip and
never recovered. Or hit by a bus. Or had a heart attack after kids
snapped your car aerial off again.
